  1. Tech raiding is the easiest and cheapest way to get tech to sell. I makes tons of cash doing it. Once you have over 9,000 NS it's nearly impossible to do since most nations within that strength range are in an alliance or have been raided already.

    Not entirely true.

While I don't technology raid and never have, I do keep a short list of potential targets just in case world order collapses and tech raiding becomes mandatory for survival. Not only am I above 9K NS, but I'm over 159K NS where you'd think targets would be even harder to find, yet there they are!

  2. For a nation as large as mine (8,900 infrastructure), I had avoided the border walls for quite awhile as I too did not want the population reduction, however, I was mistaken. I built all five border walls and guess what? I'm netting about $500,000 more per day than I was making without them.

Summation: for larger nations, the added happiness more than makes up for the reduction in population.

  3. Some time ago, I had the eight bonus resources. I actually reworked my trades and now I only have three bonus resources, however, my economy is considerably better. Generally, when you attempt to achieve the most bonus resources, you must sacrifice the population bonus multipliers (cattle, pigs, fish and wheat). Sorry, but I'll take the added population any day.

  4. I think that situations like this are the exact reason that many alliances do not allow tech raiding in the first place.

Personally, I feel that tech raiders get exactly what they deserve when they receive retaliation. Remember, what you sow, so shall you reap.

  5. Wow. Thirteen pages. Sadly, I read them all.

I'd like to know exactly how many IRC channels lcdt is banned on now. I think the count was, perhaps three, prior to this incident?

I suspect that those that cannot or will not learn to govern their actions in an OOC setting, their undoing shall soon follow.

  6. What started with a bang, ended with a whimper.

Mistakes were made in the last months of GOLD's existence, but that's not what I'll remember or choose to dwell on.

I choose to remember the great feeling we had when BoSS, EXION and CNDI merged. I'll remember the day we achieved sanction. I'll remember the great friends I made in GOLD and I'll remember the ones that left prematurely; friends I'm proud to call friends to this day and beyond. I'll remember nuking Silent_01 for GOLD :awesome:. I'll remember how much it was like a family in the early days. Finally, I'll remember everyone that put so much into both GOLD and the Yellow Sphere for so long.

I'll always remember the special alliance that was GOLD. May she rest in peace.

  7. Thanks for remembering us!

These days FOK and GUN are great sellers but at least FOK should be quite occupied with all the tech we are buying from them ;) I have also heard good things about the NADC tech shop.

    This is true.

Also, a new player is in town: Alpha Omega looks promising.

  8. Not that it really matters, but here's the real story:

During the months of November and December 2006, GOLD saw steady growth under the leadership of its first Premier Cramzpatio of Somalia. It was during this period that tensions within GOLD reached a breaking point.

A particular member, Silent_01, had repeatedly agitated many members of GOLD and had already caused early issues between GOLD and the NPO. Infamous for manipulations, backing out of tech deals, and general asshattery, Silent_01 finally went too far when, against the specific orders of the GOLD leadership, she ran for Yellow Team Senator, displacing GOLD member Barrentos. In the conflagration that followed, it was discovered that she secretly edited her application to GOLD, disavowing her oath and leaving the post "EDIT: I wonder if anyone will notice :P".

As it turned out, someone did notice, and she was promptly expelled from GOLD. After refusing the GOLD request that she leave the Yellow Team and her Senate position, Silent_01 was nuked on November 26, 2006, 11:54 PM (CST) by Enrique Barrentos, acting under orders from GOLD's Security Council. Following a quick and decisive flurry of attacks in which Silent_01 lost over 600 infrastructure in a day, she surrendered to the combined forces of GOLD and FAN and switched to the Green Team, relinquishing her senate seat.

Some national rulers within the Yellow Trading Sphere, like Pennglock of FAN, still maintain that Silent_01 is actually closely associated with the Cyber Nations admin team and could quite possibly be one of their girlfriends.
