  1. I too hope that such a potentially epic and precedent-setting war like this doesn't sputter and die over this mess. Unfortunately, that looks to be the direction it's heading.

There are a lot of people very angry about this within the UJP.

  2. I hope Legion just makes an announcement.

"We went to war because we don't like you"

    Epic Lulz.

    That's the explanation, assuredly.

It ties into the mistakes the UJP made this war. They are as follows:

The Mistakes of the Unjust Path

    1) Assuming alliances would honour their treaties.

    2) Assuming alliances would require legitimates casus bellis to enter the war.

    3) Assuming historically independent alliances would remain independent.

    4) Assuming that the normally beaten down alliances would sit out and let their oppressors destroy one another.

That said, we march bravely forward into a future where treaties mean nothing and alliance leaders won't even make half-hearted attempts to construct legitimate reasons for war.

  3. Which is what, exactly?
I'll never like GATO or the Legion, but I don't have to like someone to work with them. \m/ and FAN taught me that.

Legion and GATO should pay close attention, seeing as how you attacked FAN and dropped \m/ as soon as the war started.

  4. -AiD-... Our closest ally...

    Mordd, my friend...

I would have ordered all of NTO to march to ZI for -AiD- without a second thought. No matter if this conflict would have turned to all against -AiD-, NTO would have been there, going down with you. I'm sad I didn't realize your not willing to do the same for us. I trusted you to hold on, to fight with us until we finally reach peace in this conflict, the way we wanted it. And now this. I'm truly dissapointed.

I have said numerous times that either victory or death. Victory or death, victory or death, victory or death. Either total victory or total defeat. If NTO falls in this conflict, the reason our death will be yours to bear. Our ally. If NTO wins this, we will not forget this. Either way, your treason is one of the highest kind. It's not only in politics, but also on personal level.

I received no warning at all about this. Mordd, of all CNers I consider as friends, I have always trusted you the most. I can understand that this can possibly be a wise move politically, but you backstabbed me. Nothing more beatiful than backstabbing a friend.

Keep your senate seat, and lead your alliance to oblivion. Goodbye, -AiD-.

How dare anyone on your side talk about honour or betrayal. You and your allies have done nothing but sow betrayal since since this war began. Now it has come back to bite you. The NTO has dug its own grave.

  5. This makes no sense. Not talking with your allies about this, just surrendering when in the bigger picture our side has the advantage. Not flaming you ... but it is just odd ... not to say anything worse.

Well enjoy peace I guess .. sad to see you go

Trust me, by the end of this war, most of you will be left high and dry by those you were earlier calling your "allies." The simple explanation is that -AiD- has no obligation to talk to you because none of your are really allies. Only pawns...

  6. Going on 500 infra, over 20 cruisies blown up by raids/ infra.

about 40k soldiers, maybe 15k tanks.

    loss even on tech.

    Aircraft, about 70 level 9 fighters, 4 9 bombers.

    YU?

    Ha, lightweight.

    -600 infra

    +43 tech

    -113,000 soldiers

    -appr. 30K tanks.

  7. I agree, but hey, it trims the fat right?

    Agreed.

It somewhat ties back to Lamuella's essay on what wins a war. One of his points was veterans because veterans hold down the tent when the winds of panic start to pick up. The more veterans an alliance has, the better off it is if not simply for the fact that veterans have all been anarchied and even ZIed before, but they rebuilt and know they can do it again. For newbies, losing 100 infra in a day is a game shattering experience.

During GWIII, we had a newbie in IRC during the first two days of our entrance into the war who was panicked because he had lost 50 infra. He thought he needed aid for only 50 infra and only two days of fighting.

Knowledge is power. Keep your newbies well informed, don't lie to them, and be reassuring when they panic.

  8. I think specific aftermaths are impossible to predict, but people are forgetting one thing: There is a very real chance for a new dominant bloc to be born. Alliances like TOP who stayed out will have a golden opportunity. Honestly, like I've said in private, I'm surprised ODN/Legion/GATO and other former Aegis didn't make a bloc and all stayed out. By the time this war is over, they'd be stronger than whatever is left of the former WUT. ;)

But that's not here or now. I still think we'll see a new bloc that will rival and perhaps surpass whatever is left of whoever wins. If the winning side is the Polar side, I expect them to fracture as they have more of a CoaLUEtion type group. If the winning side is UJP expect UJP to add a few new members and become a solid bloc.

And remember, GATO SHALL RISE AGAIN! Expect them to get a mask after this whole affair.

Yes, the smart thing would have been for Legion/GATO/ODN to let the two tyrannies of CN fight it out (Orders + Allies vs. UJP). There was a real chance that the playing field could have been leveled, but now the former Aegis alliances (minus GATO) have risked their very existence to assist alliances that openly proclaim their hatred.

This is one of the more incredibly short-sighted wars that CN has had, IMO. A pissing contest between NpO/GGA and GOONS/\m/ has turned into Great War. The long term reprucussions of all these betrayals and treaty violations are going to haunt many of the alliances involved for a while to come, win or lose. Other precedents have been set as well. It use to be that an alliance had to come up with at least a half-way decent IC causus belli, but instead this war is a mere, "we don't like you!! HURR!!"

I think that after this war has been over for a few weeks, we'll really be able to see in what way it changed CN.

  9. in two days?! That's massive! I would wear that as a badge of honor, it mean's you're actually fighting hard for your alliance...of course that depends on if they are attacking or defending.

"Number of Soldiers Lost in All Wars. 93,411 Attacking + 67,275 Defending = 160,686 Casualties"

I started the war with roughly around 85,000 total casualties from all wars.

PS: This is actually my third day of fighting, not second. I was triple teamed on the 9th.

  10. CN - we know drama!

I'm waiting for the first fan fiction to get published.

I don't remember exactly when it was, but I recall someone coming on the forums one time asking to interview some of the alliance leaders because he was writing a short story about cybernations to publish. Admin came in the thread and blasted him for not asking for his permission first though.

  11. o_O

    I c wut u did thar!

BTW, you are only repeating what others have said.

Mods, please lock. Everything that will be said has been said in the other replies.

For the first time in a long time, I feel like my side is actually the "good guys." We're fighting treacherous alliances and self-proclaimed cowards. You write our propaganda for us!

Edit: Got rid of the limmerick, I realized I don't like limmericks.

  12. The downfall of the Initiative was that everyone in it was insatiably power hungry. Some were willing to betray their friends to get that power, others like GOONS were content to just work harder to get it. FAN managed the most successful betrayal, fostering for themselves a reputation as the best fighting alliance in the game, all the while making secret pacts with our enemies and not-so-subtle remarks about willing to do anything to be number 1. Had FAN managed to be just a little more reserved and less antagonistic, they probaby could have consolidated absolute power eventually. The betrayal of the NPO was a much more bitter pill for us to swallow and the cowardice of our other former allies doesn't sit well either, but this has been hashed and rehashed.

  13. Part of the enjoyment of a global war in CN is to view both parties harmless but intriguing and inventive propaganda.

Please post your propaganda here and please obide the rules set on these forums.

Graphics, Videos, Rhymes and generally anything inventive welcome.

We've actually got some good stuff getting cooked up with our art department. I have no doubt that Ericadia dresses to impress and will blow our minds with some new marvel of visual ingenuity.

  14. I have to wonder what those like Penchuck are thinking. It betrays a fatal flaw in the other side. Very few of them actually have the stomach for a real, blood and guts war. Even the person who started the whole thing can't come right out and do it, he has to coax proxies. I think Penchuck was hoping that they could just make a big show of the whole thing and we would somehow be drowned in abbreviations from declaring alliances.

But they are fighting a cohesive unit. The UJP loves war. When we can't get in on a good inter-alliance war, we war with unalligneds and rogues. The NpO's "allies" are a loose confederation of inexperienced alliances that have a couple petty squabbles with the UJP and thought this would be a good time to take a swing.

But, honestly, what does Penchuck and those like him think is going to happen after only three days of a war? The UJP would dissolve and GOONS and \m/ would disband because we shook with fear at the ragtag team of GGA, IRON and ODN? From what I hear GGA is all ready making overtures for peace. Their disagreement is petty, Bilrow embarassed himself, 404error rubbed it in his face. Penchuck has trolled our threads for the last couple of days, but now that his infra is actually on the line, he wants to end this war as quickly as possible. Most of the rest are in the fight because they are treatied to it somehow or an UJP members made a snide remark to them at some point. There is no real principle behind any of it.

One thing Penchuck and his ilk DO know, however, is that this will be a long and brutal war. That's what he's terrified of. Thus I suggest he redirect all his effort back on his own alliance if he is that terrified. His side in this war will be far more sympathetic to that argument than the UJP.
