  1. It's been so many years and so many laughs and so many rages. I had SO much fun with Frostbite. I remember when we were negotiating that while I was on a sidekick on a car ride from Pittsburgh to Boston. The bipolar war is still so very WTF in my head. I've made friends... actual friends who I talk with regularly. I haven't been very active since my kid learned to walk, but I look back fondly on Bob and especially on STA. Za Sibir, friends. Here's my axe.

  2. For the record, STA is a great alliance in my book and proved their war-fighting capabilities here. Any alliance led by Tyga should be on our side, which is why I bothered to respond to your post in the first place. I hope this isn't the prevailing chain of though around the upper echelon of STA. I also respect pezstar, even though I don't believe I've had any interactions with her in years. I guess that is a good thing.

I assure you, most of what you've heard has been greatly exaggerated. Not all of it though, I really was a horrible !@#$%* to Dajobo back in the day and he didn't deserve that.

The feelings in STA's upper echelon are mixed, but there is not a one of us who hates NpO. I don't think any of us have ever said anything even close to that. I've defended at least as much as I've criticized, and I think that goes for at most of us.
  3. BRING IT

You might be happy to know that it isn't just one anymore.

That said both of our alliances are similar in that one can not really claim the entire alliance having one attitude. I can't speak for STA members on the whole, but looking in the STA embassy on our forum, there's a very wide ranging set of opinion presented. And looking at the membership of Polaris, there is an equally diverse range. Essentially, anyone trying to say "Polar feels this way" or "The STA feels this way" likely isn't representing the true range of thoughts and opinions. From Polaris' side, our Emperor will ultimately determine what relationship we have with the STA and the rest of us will continue to think of them as great friends/be indifferent/wait in anticipation for the above threat to happen.

Yeah, that's where we are too. The feelings are very diverse, and "STA" doesn't feel any one way. And ultimately, it only matters what Tyga thinks. :P
  4. Meh, I'm not saying you have to love them or anything. I just don't understand the whole "I hate Polar because we parted ways and then they didn't help us years later" line of thinking some have exhibited. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That being said, as I said earlier I know that's not the prevailing line of thought within STA, and I don't fault them for having passionate members. Just a sort of observation, if you will.

Our feelings for Polar are really complicated. They're certainly not as simple as "I hate Polar." and the reasons are much, much more complicated than what you have described. Our history is complicated. STA has many reasons for our feelings toward Polaris. As far as we can tell, Polar has one reason for their feelings toward STA.

It is what it is. We'll work it out one way or another. You're right though. The prevailing sentiment in STA toward Polaris is not one of hate.
  5. This a non issue as far as I am concerned. TPF/STA lost the war as we knew we would going in so we both surrendered to the winning coalition. Surrender, non surrender just words. Congrats all around, look forward to the next one.

Can't be arsed to fix the double post, stupid phone.

Yeah, we'd have been happy to surrender. That sort of thing doesn't bother us.
  6. Dear STA

Thank you for the years of service and friendship to our alliance.  I consider it regrettable that we now find ourselves on opposing sides of a war but even the most passionate among us must consider the inevitability of conflicts arising when you and your allies place yourselves in such a position by virtue of obligations or otherwise.

It was a sad day for Polaris when you chose to end our relationship, but it was your choice to make, one earned in the hardest way possible over many years.  I rejoiced for you however when you cancelled the treaty, now you were finally free of the burdens you were forced to carry on our behalf, and you could choose to make your own way, choose your own path and engage in your own destiny without interference from Polaris and the constant drain that interference created on your resolve and resources.

Do we owe you something, I believe so, but this is not the time or the place to do so.  We commenced this war on NSO and her inevitable defenders requiring much support from current allies and even more support from their respective allies.  In this war we have a direct, measurable and indisputable obligation to our coalition.  Whilst it would be lovely to ride on your behalf, it is simply not possible.  I know from first hand experience the complications that arise when you make clever moves that compromise people who have agreed to help you.

The nature of warfare has significantly changed over the last few years, we are now approaching a point where it will actually make sense.  In war there are two sides, you are on one or the other or you are a bystander.  IF you are on side B you can not really expect side A to allow you any comfort or mercy and really you expect none at all.  Our prosecution of this conflict was largely enabled by someone being too clever by half in the last conflict, surely everyone including blind freddy can see the progression.

So STA, whilst I personally wish no harm to you, and I am sure 99.9% of our alliance would think in a similar manner, we are a small part in a larger coalition, whilst we can take some responsibility for things that transpire during this war, we do not pretend or even consider it desirable to attempt to control the efforts of the entire coalition even to assist you.  Any attempts to assist you hurt someone else, someone actually on our side, and as such will ultimately be detrimental to everyone concerned.

If you want to sign a treaty with us, and I do not suggest you do, as previously stated I believe you to be much better off without us, then do so.  If you do not want to be attacked, set your options to "I do not want to be attacked'', as e-lawyering regarding the concept of oA and so forth seem to have little effect on the declaration of war these days, especially post-event.

If you take exception to IRON's actions, I am pleased for you to do so, they are attacking you but not at our command or direction.  If you see my tanks in your backyard, then you will have every right to be aggrieved at Polaris, but that is not happening.

Good luck to the membership of STA.  You are free to burn to the ground for someone else this time and I am happy that is not Polaris.

Thank you for this, and from the last person I expected to see it from. Truly, thank you.
  7. I recall having the same thing happen to us several years ago and nobody really gave a damn besides RoK and FAN to be honest.  Even then, they couldn't do much to stop it when the rest of the coalition demanded it of NoR.  Was declaring on STA at the top of my personal list of really fun things to do to piss people off?  Hell no.  Probably amongst the lowest "fun thing" I could think of next to getting a root canal or a colonoscopy.

Coalition warfare is never neat, nor is it ever fully clean.  You do the best that you can for your friends and allies, and in this war I can say Fark's not the only one stuck in between a rock and a hard place in that department, but you do the best you can.

As an ex-Farker, Old Pec, you should recognize that.

    Fair enough, really.
  8. I laughed, and laughed, and then checked the numbers. STA's upper tiers (ie 100k+ NS or 10k+ tech) actually really are a match for the combined upper tier grouping of Fark, GOD, RIA, NADC, Echelon and TTK, and that assumes that all 6 had placed their complete and undivided attention on STA, which is obviously not the case.

IRON's involvement is obviously an unnecessary sledgehammer in all but a very specific area of the battle, and still a sledgehammer in that specific area of the battle as well. But in IRON's place, another alliance, with a group of strong upper tier nations, would still need to be involved to ensure a clean victory on this front for the XX et al coalition. Invariably the alliance in question will take a significant amount of ridicule.

So obviously, I'm now laughing even harder at this perfect statistical storm.

For the record, IRON's upper tier remains in peace mode.
  9. I don't think we believe that Polaris was plotting against STA actively. I think our disappointment is more along the lines that Polaris didn't do anything to stop the oA chain from happening. As I stated before, Polaris has absolutely no technical obligation to STA and thus what you're doing is superficially fine.

But there's a deeper history between our alliances. When Polaris was the pariah of the world, we stuck by you. When you were getting beaten in the noCB war, we declared on every alliance at war with you. Through multiple times in our history we risked total destruction to stand by you. We bleed with you, we fought for you, we suffer alongside you. We cancelled our treaty with you after that due to communication issues, but never once did we regret fighting for you. It was a privilege and honor to fight in the defense of an ally when the whole world hates you. As an aside, that's a commitment your new friend TOP will never give you.

After that kind of commitment, I would hope that your honor would bind you to perhaps not actively defend us but to at least prevent ridiculous oA chains from being formed against your old blood brother. I again hesitate to call it a debt or that you owe us, but more akin to a feeling of profound honor.

You have no literal obligation to us. And for that you can wash your hands clean of what has transpired. The fact that you are able to do so though saddens me deeply because it means that I completely misunderstood the psyche of your alliance. And for that I have no one to blame but myself.

Jyrinx has said what I want to say, only so much better, as he so often does. Thank you, Jyrinx.

  10. I don't see anyone in Polar complaining that STA honored it's commitments. I see members of Polar expressing surprise that we're taking flak for not shielding you from the consequences of your choices.

Frankly, it's because we expended both our political capital and our nations by defending Polaris for years, and since we ended our treaty, we'd been told several times by NpO that even though you knew it was over, you'd still protect us when push came to shove. Then, when that day came, you were unwilling to spend a little political capital on STA when you were absolutely in a position to do so.

We'd never expect you to prevent us from being countered. That's absurd. Of course we should be countered by NADC's allies. But this? No. This is the sort of thing would wouldn't have been surprised to hear that you'd prevented once the war was over. Instead, we've heard that you approved of it. That's why we're disappointed.

Perhaps it's my fault. Perhaps I misunderstood.

Good luck with your wars. I hope it's all worth it to you.

  11. So to recap for everyone, IRON ignored their treaty with NG, then declared war on an alliance protecting their ally. Then, instead of having one of NADC's actual allies declare on us, IRON declares on STA using not 1, but 4 treaties to get to an oA to enter against us, a much, MUCH smaller alliance attacking an alliance IRON is not allied to and with whom we are pretty evenly matched. It serves no strategic value whatsoever, and no matter how hard I try, I can't figure out why you'd choose to do this rather than do something that actually HELPS your coalition.

Shame on IRON. We now know why it took you so long to enter the war... you had to stop to search for your dignity. It looks like you weren't able to find it. Shame on FARK. We thought a lot of you before this nonsense and have had several discussions with TPF about getting closer to you. You were one of the few alliances we truly respected. And to NpO: Our illusions have been shattered. We know. Yeah. Oops.

  12. Our members are shit talking our opponents? If you have evidence of STA members being rude or condescending then please forward it to  myself so I can look  into it.  As for this thread, I see Coloradia and yourself in a bit of a pissing contest over damages (unless I missed something?) which I would hardly call disrespectful to NADC.

I, too, would like to see this.

  13. I've already told you that NADC launched an impressive defensive slot nuking and put half of STA into anarchy. Remember? You guys were mocking me on several threads saying I thought anarchy measured war effectiveness. See? Yeah that was me :) guess I was thinking a step ahead. How dumb of me :P

EDIT: I see what you did there. You brought TPF up out of the blue. Yeah, TPF is already getting slaughtered. This isn't about TPF. Echelon declared war on STA sweetie. This is why I call you illiterate and you call me retarded, it's genuinely that you can't read.

Can you just stop? In your nation's over 4 years in the Cyberverse, you've had all of 500,000 casualties. You know nothing of war. You've been running your mouth in a way that makes a complete ass of yourself here for too long. Absolutely no one takes you seriously, including your own alliance, as evidenced by the fact that the leader of it has already declared you to be "separate" from it. Normally, I'd be content to just let someone embarrass themselves here, but it's getting to the point now where your posts are so bad I literally cringe when I read them, and it's uncomfortable. You are really, really bad at this. Please, save yourself the dignity and stop it.
