  1. Steelrat: I wrote that the FnF situation was one of three reasons why I left. You know all three reasons and I think all of them are pretty damning and in fact every single one would be enough to leave. Yes, the FnF situation was not the main reason for me to leave. It was about a third of the total reason. One of three ;) Just as I wrote.

Bob: Yes, we asked FnF. And we got total !@#$%^&* explanations that every child could see as blatant lies. At least every child that wanted to look for the truth.

I do not doubt that Grämlins were betrayed and I do not doubt that Grämlins did not know the magnitude of FnFs actions.

But I know for a fact that Grämlins had damn good reasons to mistrust them before the merger and deliberately looked the other way.

Just re-read the topics in the Archon board, Bob. You must see it is true.

  2. Sweet justice.

I am really on the floor laughing right now.

I told you so! I told you EXACTLY that this will happen over a month ago.

I told everybody that the merger is a bad idea. Saying that "some people were suspicious" is the understatement of the year my friend. It was totally obvious for everybody with half a braincell that FnF was not legitimate, their governments behavior and the aid patters totally spoke for themselves.

And still I was - as Grämlins minister of internal affairs - not able to stop it because of YOUR (not you particulary Ejay, this is more directed generally at the archons) greed for more NS. Knowing that this will happen and seeing how nobody except me cared a tiny bit was actually one of the three reasons I resigned from Grämlins.

And I find it amusing that the safety measures against the merger (the 20day test period etc) that have been put in place only after my massive protest are now what allowed Grämlins to get out of this mess at least half intact. You guys wanted to jump in the bed with FnF without using a condom if I remember correctly. Great leadership ;) Thumbs up!

For all Grämlins: Do you remember the topic in the Templar area were the merger was first proposed? Do you remember how it was written? Do you remember my topic following it a day later with the negative details? Do you remember how these concerns were handled? Just look up my old topic and carefully read it.

I really hope that the Grämlins will think hard on who royally screwed this up . My desperate attempts to get at least some kind of sense back into this alliance sadly failed. Maybe this whole thing is enough to finally wake you up and bring you back to reality - but I really doubt it.

I for one am damn glad that I am not longer part of the Grämlin alliance.

    From Syzygy:

I am disappointed and sad, I can't even describe how much.

Yea right. How disappointed can you be after knowing for over a month and pushing for the merger despite the evidence against FnF?

Sadly, I am no longer minister of internal affairs of the Grämlin alliance. As MoIA I could tell the truth as an official act as government. Right now it would be treason. A fine line to walk ;) So I ask you:

Am I allowed to say what I (and every other Archon for that matter) knew about FnF before the merger? There is such an interesting tale to tell ;) Or do you maybe have something to hide, did you not tell the truth here?

I'm very much looking forward to your answer!

  3. Assuming the accusations in the OP are true, NADC deserve this war – which they will lose, obviously. The fact that the NADC haven't strongly denied them is rather odd if they aren't true, but then again that's rather odd regardless. And at this stage NADC could provide logs from November of NpO planning this war and it wouldn't make any difference.

However, I find the accusations of coordinated spying rather hard to believe. There were (prior to update on the 26th when war was declared) zero exposed spy operations against the NpO that were targeting nukes. It is an absolutely crazy thing for any alliance to do, particularly one that is neutral and would not want a war with NpO (since it would always lose). Taking Grub's nation as an example, which is conveniently on the front page of the NpO listings, his 1500 tech would count for 75 spies, making the chances of a successful attack even if the NpO was completely spy free (which I doubt it was, considering they are at war with FAN already) under 90%. The chances of 30 spying attacks at 90% all succeeding is 4%. You can fiddle with the numbers but you won't make that a big number. I find it very hard to believe that the NADC is stupid enough to sanction large scale nuclear decomissioning on a powerful alliance with a 96% chance that they'd be caught.

I would like to see the logs of a senior NADC member admitting to this, since as there are no exposed operations there can be no other way Polaris can have determined NADC was behind it. For that many nukes to have been lost with no sign is extremely unlucky, but could easily be the work of many individuals and not any alliance at all.

Best of luck to the MCXA, not that you'll need it.

You are wrong on several accounts.

First, since I did not see claims of NADC denying the spy attacks I have to assume they are true.

Second, your math is a little off - you are forgetting the tech of the spy attacker. It is in fact _very_ easy to get >95% spy chance on targets, even if they have a lot of tech. In addition to that it is quite safe to assume that no spy op with a chance of 90% got actually launched, more likely only the 98% and 99% spy ops. This "fiddling with the numbers" makes it actually quite likely that many spy ops go unnoticed. And as far as I know there was one guy labeled "rogue" who got his spy ops actually exposed (correct me if I am wrong here, didn't really follow that case). If he was part of the coordinated program then the math perfectly fits.

  4. I'm not sure how you guys will be the salvation of black. Without the cooperation of one of the most respected alliances in the history of planet Bob, you won't get anywhere. I'm speaking about OBR, of course.

You can't just announce "We are going to save black! Yay!" then do it. It's not that easy. There's a lot of instability on the black sphere, but there's also some longstanding black alliances that have been working on the idea of black stability for longer than Margrave's new nation has existed.

I just don't see the point. Move to black, good. I support that. What I don't support is this announcement, and you guys somehow thinking it's going to actually mean anything. Unless you sign up with OBR and friends, you won't get anything done.

Tela is awesome and there really is nothing more to say except maybe:

TTC you guys are funny. I really had a good laugh. Thanks.

Oh and Chimays post was also of cause awesome - but too long to quote ;)

  5. communism is like one of those jokes that work well on paper, but really just suck

No, it doesn't even work well on paper.

Ask your local friendly university economics department ;)

It's more like creationism. It's founded on some dogmatic belief and it tries to explain it using pseudo-scientific methods.

    Back on topic:

Religion is a belief system. You chose your religion. So discriminating against a Religion is the same as discriminating against any other fundamental point of view a person can have. Like discriminating against Nazis. Or against Communists. Or against Star Wars fans.

Nothing of that is even remotely related to racism.

Racism means that you discriminate against races, meaning you discriminate against people NOT for what they do or for what they believe but how they were born.

I hope we all agree that doing that is generally a very bad thing.

However: Religions are not races, you are not born with a religion. Yes, you may grow up in a religious environment - but you chose to either keep this religion, chose a new one or go without one altogether. Being religious is a choice, a trait of character - and therefor it is justified to judge people by their religion. Judging people by their character is still allowed, right?

I find it sad that people like the OP are using the "racism hammer" so frequently on these completely ridiculous issues.

By abusing this people get blind to real cases of racism. Because of all those false racism claims they mostly think "Oh not again!" and stop reading when by chance a true one gets posted.

  6. If you don't like losing your precious infra open some spreadsheet and increase your numbers there every day.

    Boring much?

If you don't like getting raided just fight back.

The only reason tech raids are so popular is that most unaliged are pussies that are too afraid to fight.

If you'd all just grow a spine then nobody here would tech raid (since then the losses would far outweight the benefit - if a tech raider could be 90% sure the target will fight back).

Do something about it or stop the whining please. Kick that next tech raiders $@! or join an alliance. It is really not that hard.

Or just make that spreadsheet and increase your pretty number every day ...

edit: The curse word filter is totally ridiculous. It blocked the expressiong "kick his ...", well you know the word. It is totally harmless. I can understand blocking really "bad" words but this one is just silly. Which directly related to the topic: What a whiny culture we have become ...

  7. DOS attacks are so stupid. Better run a secure OS on your server, like Windows XP. That does not have any old DOS parts in it.

... I simply couldn't resist. You have to admit: It is kind of funny ;)

My condolences to NPO. Happy hitting on those that are responsible for these attacks. Hacking / DoS attacks should have no place here.

  8. I do not see any hypocrisy here. The goal is obviously not to to something about the "evil" tech raiding but protecting their own trades. Which is achieved with this policy. Tech raiding other colors does not affect their trades so there is no need to put regulations against it in place.

But in the end it all comes down to the question: Can those alliances enforce this policy against those who do not like it? For example the NPO can obviously enforce their policy on the red sphere without any doubt and therefor it is a good policy for the NPO. Are the maroon alliances capable of doing the same?

    Time will tell.
