  1. Thank you, Poobah.

    Let's keep things respectful.

With that in mind, SilverHawk is engaging in an increasingly positive and productive dialogue. With respect, I do not believe he's embarrassing GGA as much as we're working to keep them from constantly having to be on the defensive. Once they're not about to get verbally ambushed, they don't have to put up outward barriers.

I must apologize at my initial reaction, I think Havamil stated it best for why I acted the way I did.

  2. Moreover, having an honest and frank discussion can do wonders to clear the air... or to keep the air clear.

Ya wanna have a contest? Your nation is close to mine in NS and infra... how about a tech buying race?

I'd be happy to start the race after I get my MP, sadly, it'll be eating up most of my tax collections this month. But I think that a fundamentally working system of Tech Circles and inter-sphere trading would do wonder helping our smaller nations grow. Not everybody has the material wealth to make up for poor resources. (Guess how much money I hemorrage every month keeping my trades having Furs/Water.)

  3. Indeed.

But I would like to try and see more positive energy heading towards GGA than the same old verbal bullying. They *have* heard it all before, as SilverHawk indicated. No need to pile it on.

OK, so SilverHawk asked for time. Perfectly reasonable. Often, challenging another alliance can result in a fun competition that has positive benefits for both alliances. Perhaps a tech buying challenge? Or maybe a race for an alliance strength stat? In NV, we had a lot of fun with some other alliances in building up our overall alliance score. Sure, some alliances pulled a few shens to boost numbers, but in the end, we had a lot of nations that had bought tech, infra, and good improvements and wonders in our alliance as well as in the other alliances. It was a win-win, and I'd be happy to invite GGA to a friendly competition with NV. I can only do so as a member of my alliance, but higher-level guys can discuss this matter. Or, if GGA would prefer to compete among its allies, so be it.

Perhaps announcing such a competition and getting the competing nations to join in with the announcement would be a great, positive step not only for GGA internally, but for improving its public image.

Although NV does not have an alliance with GGA, I would like to see more positive engagement with GGA in the community of nations. It can only be to the benefit of us all to strive for improvement rather than damn the current state of affairs.

I was once an ambassador to GGA and I remember some good times in that embassy. I know GGA doesn't deserve what's being thrown at it and I'd like to see everyone to look for a better way of doing things.

I must agree with you, we recently had a Nuke comp with another alliance and it did spur the creation of nuclear capable and equipped nations. I see no reason why your idea wouldn't work for other things as well.

SilverHawk: Go jump in a jet and fly around your capital for awhile it may make you feel better and less concerned with these threads Gotta be better than these bloody longships.

I am most pleased that somebody else got the humour. :awesome:

  4. Dude, he's trying to help you, and you insult him?

Asking people to be quiet is an insult now? Oh, silly Vox Populi.

I did not say his advice was bad, I said it was what we all have heard before in the GGA. While he did go out of the way to lay it out, it does not exclude the fact it was oft-repeated advice.

With respect to President Obama's caution, I am glad to see most comments of a constructive nature and do hope all participants remain civil in their discourse.

To the point about GGA being bottom heavy and therefore lacking in wonders, I would respond that looking at where GGA nations did purchase their wonders, they could have gone for choices other than what they did. Some sort of prioritization in wonder purchases would be in order - and could be a good internal boosting program.

Yes, a member check-in would be a great thing. Inspecting GGA's member list, I think I spotted a few potential ghosts, but will hold my tongue on that matter. All the same, having members check in or get busted is a much-needed move. Once members check in, get them going in a tech store.

Also, any other alliance having less than public struggles should consider the comments I and other respected members of the global community have made. See what you can do to keep your alliances moving up and not stagnating.

I must simply respond to the Wonders Fiasco with the fact that the majority of our members do not grace our forums and seem to make the worst possible choices when constructing wonders. As for one of those SPs, I built it because I find the cheaper aircraft worth it, (And at the time the cheaper tech wasen't half bad either.) the MIC I recently constructed because I have the 8BR set and before I build my MP, I'm going to need increased money from my perma-uran trade to make up for my loss of Wheat and Beer (Didn't get lucky with the wild card resource.)

  5. Well, your comments in this thread show you do get angry when people ridicule GGA, so don't start. That said, even if you don't get angry when GGA is ridiculed, your comment about wanting to leave GGA except for the fact that you're too lazy don't help your case, or your alliance's case. Comments like that should ensure you are among the first shown the door, if and when that happens.

Yes, because it was the same oft-repeated advice that we've all heard before. "By moar WRCs/MPs, 2 moar tech circlz, lolz at da FACz" Just trussed up with pretty verbiage. Also, I said "Passive" not "Lazy".

  6. I can't say I disagree with you, but if you, a GGA member, feel that you should have jumped ship and say that in a public forum, how do you expect to turn this around and get some experienced nations to join you guys?

Nobody said honesty was pretty or self serving. But now that the alliance as a whole is willing to take the hard looks at itself that it should of done so long ago, it'd be...dishonest of me to leave them now when they need the help from their veteran members that knows what needs to be done.

  7. So you publicly ridicule GGA, but get angry when others do? Give your head a shake, man, and leave this thread. Not necessarily in that order.

Seriously, how can you think comments like that help you, and the advice given in the OP does not? Wow... I am utterly shocked right now.

I don't get angry when they ridicule the GGA. I get angry when they repeat themselves over and over again on the same subjects without a sufficent passage of time. Give us a wonder-clock before repeating your advice, we might be more receptive to it.

  8. While you may take in more newer nations, you don't have a proper system of education it appears or at least some of them would be bigger. You have a large amount of inactive lower members :/

Also, I definitely think your opinion on a membership purge is a great idea. Get rid of those ghosts that you have and fix up your alliance. Work on those WRCs as well, and soon you will see people laughing at GGA a lot less.

You won't find an argument from me, no excuse for being 300+ days old and a measly 5K NS, truely pathetic that is. You would take me wrong to think the way the GGA is doesn't anger me greatly, if I may bring in OOC into this, my current service in the military shows me that when people don't work together or pull their weight, everybody looks like a fool and everybody is responsible for the failure of the whole.

But sadly, this is not the military, it is a browser game and you can't force people to act their age or take an active interest in their alliance and it's forums. (Which we do have and have up-to-date guides on how to build up your nation, tech circle and trade circle functions, military guides, etc.)

We are simply paying the price for gobbling up all the newb nations who never take that extra step to get involved in the game and here's the expected result, poor development, hanger-on syndrome and just all around asshattery.

If I wasen't so passive myself, I'd probably have jumped shiped a year ago.

  9. Bottomheavy? Yes. However, when you have nations at 5k NS who are 429 days old..nation age is the same across the board.

That was just a sampling :)

I myself never said I approved of the lay abouts we call members, I think we could honestly do with a good membership purge and leave the good and smart people behind, would make the GGA much less a laughing stock.

That I agree with. However, it will take people a long time stop offering advice. If you do not wish to take the advice, it's one thing, but actively insulting those who offer it is uncalled for.

If you ignore the advice given, and the people giving it to you, for long enough, eventually it will stop coming

The advice isn't being ignored, it's simply getting tiresome how we aren't being given anytime to ACT on it. If I had the power, I would nation sit 100 nations and run them myself and you'd see change right quick for the better.

  10. Well, when I'm agreeing with zzz about something, things are going strange.

I'll just point out another thing. Invicta has about the same number of members as NV, but we're hardly known as a warmongering alliance.

    And yet.

GGA has 34 nations at 2K tech or higher, Invicta has 32. GGA's highest tech nation is 6.5K, ours is 8.5K. We also have 4 WRCs to GGA's 1. We have just under 2/3 as many members as GGA, about 70% the NS, and yet - the same number of high-tech nations, basically.

You guys do have a few more SDIs. That's something I guess. :)

Oh yeah. We're also a lot younger. When Invicta was a few nations with around 50K total NS, GGA was a sanctioned alliance.

And no, we never got any aidfalls or whatever. We sold tech.

Like I said, the majority of our member nations are new and as such, smaller and less developed. If you have enough 2's you can add them up to 1,000,000. You need to look less at our overall NS and rather what the spread of NS makes up that number.

  11. I don't believe you. (I don't need you to convince me, I'm just saying, the proof will be in the pudding.)

But the correct response, if you are telling the truth, would either be a "thank you" or to not say anything. If you tire of people discussing GGA's issues in public, I suggest you no longer make them public. I also suggest you (you as in you, not as in GGA) stop making comments in GGA threads which lead to threads like these.

    Edit: Typo

Honestly, people are going to find something to pick on, twist it around and then use it as a soap-box to loudly proclaim how the GGA needs to do this and that instantly like we can just flick our wrists and *poof* every nation in the GGA would be a 40K powerhouse.

  12. NV has a similar admissions policy to GGA, whereas Gramlins are much more elitist. NV is a perfectly valid comparison point for GGA, the disadvantage would be on NV's side for having fought in a losing war (WoC) and being a newer alliance than GGA. GGA should have a major wonder advantage based off that.

How's that? We're a bottom heavy alliance, the comparsion is moot because we take in a greater volume of new nations. If nation age was similar across the board then the comparsion could be made that the GGA doesn't know what the hell it's doing rather then having new nations with low amounts of infrastructure.

  13. Nothing in this apology does anything to get GGA closer to having 2 Weapons Research Complexes in their alliance. If they would just buy ONE MORE, it would show that they can respond to positive criticism in a positive way. Otherwise, it makes them look like they're still under some kind of surrender terms.

Come on, GGA. Man up. Do the right thing and get some military wonders. We'll all be pleasantly surprised when that happens.

Here's an idea, give us a month for our wonder clocks to reset instead of flapping your gums? That would be most excellent, because as much as we want to have the power of the almighty admin to remove the clock timer, we do not and such, must wait a month.

  14. zzzptm: Hey, here's some well though out, valid advice to help you guys out.

    You: F*** you.

Pretty much really, we already know what needs to be done to fix our alliance and are doing so at all possible speed. We don't need another thread that I can bet my 401K on will devolve into petty GGA insults and trolling.

Edit : You would do well to know that the GGA is very bottom heavy with new nations compared to well developed higher NS Nations. Your numbers don't really mean anything because of that. Newer nations will have less improvements and less wonders.

  15. It is not for you to argue on behalf of our Almighty Judges, the Swords and Shields of Our Lord Admin.

They have already spoken on the matter, I am simply the town crier telling the town idiot to listen before he is most rightously smote for bringing up a subject deemed dead by powers that be.

I'm not sure who you refer to as being offended. I'm just seeing people perplexed at your persistence in making a mockery of yourself and your alliance. Ya, you like to have fun, we get it. But it's a rather special situation when you're here having fun at your own alliance's expense.

It's a game, I like to have fun with the games I play, I am having fun. I cannot understand these people who dig on the GGA, is it fun for them? If it is, good for them, otherwise, they should find something else to do so they may enjoy themselves.

Maybe it's because I've been playing this game for 3+ years and everything old is new again, so I'm not bothered in the slightest by IC/OOC attacks and alliance trolling.
