  1. Id rather want to see the events being designed so that in the long run it will be about even. The main thing about events is that it gives the player something else to do other than just the normal paying bills and collecting taxes.

In fact the feature with events being triggered also when paying bills means that as long as the events is mostly bad, people have stoped paying bills every day. Instead they do infra swapping and don't pay the bills unless they have to, normaly to change to the collecting improvements and to send aid. The "penalty" for not paying bills every day is a flat $5000 fee, and that is far to little to make it worth the risk to get a bad event by paying bills to often.

So in my mind the new event system worked opposite of what it was intended to do, namely to give the players more to do. As of now the players have even less to do since they don't pay bills daily there is no need to even check your nation everyday, for semi active people that means they are likely to forgett their nation for a few days risking them to loose their nation due to inactivity. And those semi active players won't create a new nation to replace the old one, they will instead just drop the game.

  2. You can ask around for someone that makes avatars and graphics for people, many of them will help you make a flag as well.

It would help if you atleast draw out your design idea so that they have something to work with. But I'm pretty sure you can make it yourself as well. It depends a bit on your skills and on how advanced the flag is (it shouldn't be too advanced or it will be difficult to make out at a distance).

  3. This is the short comings of CN, most players just pays bills and collects, with the new chances of geting (bad) events everytime you pay bills and collect taxes combined with improvement swappings many players don't even log in everyday :o

Actually if the CN server went down for a week most of the actuall game play would be more or less unchanged since most of the game play happens on offsite forums.

I'm voting " Collect, pay bills, repeat" since that is most accurate. I don't roleplay a lot, but I do enjoy being part of an alliance government organising/masking on the forum, sending instrutions and stuff like that. But I don't think I would call it roleplay.

  4. When in doubt always go for the setup that gives your the highest population boost.

The reason is that population boost give you double up the bonus, not only do you get more citizens that pay taxes but it also enables you to buy more improvements faster that gives you even more bounses. Even if you can't buy more improvements an increase in population let's you buy a larger army.

  5. The way the game works right now there really isn't much of a use to have any standing army. If you have a big war chest and you get attacked you can just max out your military in a matter of secounds. If the original attack droped your infra level you can even rebuy the infra if your war chest is large enough.

Untill some kind of a build up time is added to the game you don't really need to buy an army before you need it if you have a war chest.

  6. The problem with CN is the issue with re-rolling nations because some resources are generally just bad if you compare them with the rest.

Resources needs to either be continuously tweaked untill we find the perfect balance, OR we need some sort of an open market where resources in high demand is a lot more expensive to trade for. If you had to pay 100k* each day for a fish trade, and gained an extra 100k* each day for accepting a fur trade then many more would actually settle for the cheap but medicore resources and not go after only the resources needed for the 3BR trade circle.

*cash values just grabed out of thin air, will probably need to be tweaked to consider the NS of the nation.

  7. Events seems to come in pairs, it does actually looks to be more common that you get the same even twice than it is that you get one good and one bad event at the same time.

I don't know the formula for getting new events, but many people have experienced that you are unlikely to only get one event, Normaly you don't get any events for a long time, then all of sudden you get a lot of them in a short time span.

  8. This is the problem with word filters, while they prevent some words they mess up inocent messages as well. Besides if someone want to send an angy PM to someone they just use the tricks to avoid the word filter.

Personaly I think it's better to not have any filtering and instead people should be repporting unappropiate messages.

Not all people are offended by those words, and sometimes they may be appropiate to use even in normal messages. In addition the filtered word can have another meaning in another language, making it impossible to type in anything other than english. Imagine if those last four letters was the word for trade in another language.

  9. Sorry Destro I don't like it, maybe for war reasons it has some value. But I like telling newbs that they are doing something wrong, and what they can do to improve there nation

You can still help out new players, but with a system like this in place that new nation will have to give you his detailed information. To give very good advices you pretty much need all his detailed information from the extended nation view anyways.

I like this suggestion. Like it is now you can calculate most of the important factors before going to war, the only thing that can stop you from a sure win is the random chances your attack fails, but most people attacks with more than 80% victory chance anyways.

Would it be intersting to add a feature from roleplaying games; the critical hit and critical failure? That means that no matter what percent chance of victory you have you will always win 5% of all attacks and in the same way always fail 5% of all attacks nomatter the combat odds?

  10. 300K is just a pat on the shoulder, but it was worth a try. But the fact remains that those who wish to advertice for CN have allready done it without wanting a reward from it and 300k is not enough for someone to do it for the bonus.

Is there any statistics on the results of this advertice campaign?

I agree that it might be more effective to give nations a small bonus for everyone that joins CN thru their link (with an added bonus if they last a while). Only problem I can think of is that some recruiting nations would grow very fast if they got a lot of people to join using their link. But that is a small price to pay to get more people to join our little universe here.

Something also needs to be done with the interface, it's to hard for a newbie to figure out how to play this game, not to mention that most of the game play is on offsite forums.

Have anyone stumbled upon this game and kept playing whitout anyone recomending it to you? I would think not, it's to complicated to start at the main page gives no info about the gameplay before you sign up. There are some cool pictures of tanks and nukes, but that really doesn't help or reflect the game properly.

When a game both needs people to be convinced by exisiting players to join in and need experienced players to tell them how to play as well, then I'm not supprised that we are loosing players.

  11. Or a Federal Government, plus in real-life most nations would have 'None' as their religion, as most RL nations have no state-religion.

I agree on that, the real political statement would be to either have a state religion or not.

As for what kind of a government USA would have it really depends a bit on who's putting up the label. Both republic and federal government is under the democracy umbrella, but a true democracy would require that everyone in a country could vote on the specific cases that the government is talking about, not just vote for a person or party to represent you.

It would actually be intersting to change cybernations into a sort of cyber cities. I think we all agrees that nations at the moment acts more like cities under a federal government witch is the alliance.

  12. I voted for all because I could.

This list doesn't really make much sense, what you have done here is listing all the available combos without any conclusion. Is the first comboes the best? Is the Enviroment build better than the Bills build?

  13. The problem with this is that CN nations isn't that different from eachother, infact they are all pretty much the same. Almost every nation would look like USA since it's the american way of runing a country that have been refelected in CN. The only exeption is very young nations that have yet to get their population up.

The religion and government changes regulary in most nations. Religion is changed when the people want it to get the +1 bonus and the different governments isn't used since monarchy is always the best (is sometimes changed during war).

In CN you want the max you can have of everything, a high population is always better than a low population without taking into account that a nation with a high population often have large social and ecconomical differences in the population and that far from everyone works. In fact a small nation with high technology and income would in many aspects be better than many large nations.

  14. I have a question about the policy of locking threads, as it is now a thread is locked as soon as some kind of conclusion is made in a thread. The problem is that it seems to be up to the induvidual moderator/admin when that conclusion is reached.

Wouldn't the forum be better if threads would be allowed to live on?

That way related discussions or input would not have to be posted in a new thread all the time. The way it is now is that it's very hard to search the forum since you mostly find locked threads, so if you have any further questions you have to make a new thread. I understand the problem with grave digging, but as long as the new post is on topic and brings something new to the thread it would be better to get it in the original thread instead of making a new one. If someone bumps old threads without any good reason they could get a warning or a day suspension instead.

  15. I like this. I don't think it makes it any easier on the defender since the attacker will be able to complete the quad attack befofore you recive the e-mail and logs in on CN:TE anyways.

It just means that you don't have to log on multiple times each day just to see if anything is going on in your nation. This will probably help on the server load since you now will only need to actually log in when you are planing on doing something. Right now most of the actuall game play happens on off site forums anyways so it's nice to recive such messages in an email. It would be even better if we could get the other PMs on mail as well.

  16. If I was you I would have just used paint to begin with makind a large flag where you roughly draw out how you want the flag to look. Then you can ask someone who do signatures to clean it up and make a real flag based on your design.

  17. This was something admin said in this thread; http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=37626

If you attempt to register with a banned user name in CN standard the ban will carry over in CN:TE.

Does this mean that it's possible to accedentaly get banned if you type in a generic user name that somehow have been banned on CN standard in the past?

I don't know how many have been banned or what kind of usernames they used, so I'm guessing that the chance of this happening is pretty small, but still. When you browse around on different forum on the web you can all the time see different users with the exact same username. Is there some kind of list of banned usernames somewhere?

Or is it tied up to the IP so both the you only get banned if the same username from the same IP tries to register on CN:TE

On a related note, is there any kind of protection against username stealing in place in CN:TE?
