My massive distatste for startup micros would probably make that a bad fit, I think the game needs FEWER alliances, not more.

I support this statement about startup micros. Should just join the oldest alliance.

What I believe needs to be done is increase the abilities of younger nations to compete, without destroying the advantage that ancient nations have worked for (though severely reducing it)
I can see this done through four game changes.
Implement a logarithmic tech return; the more you have, the smaller the boost each individual unit gives you
Implement a logarithmic land return; the more you have, the smaller the boost each individual unit gives you
Reduce the wonder clock for the first dozen wonders
Add some improvements that function only for nations under one year old and are significantly more useful than a standard improvement.

Implement these and younger nations will be able to grow faster, obtain wonders faster and compete on a more even footing with ancient nations, without making the work they have put into the game over the years redundant.

These would really be interesting, its incredibly difficult to get anyone interested in the game when you tell them #1 it is text based and #2 that it'll take you over a year in real time for your nation to be anywhere near competitive with the ancient nations. Otherwise all we have to offer is the promise that if someone is active enough, they might just get interested enough in the RP alliance portion of the game. Giving new nations a sort of quick start would defiantly make the game more fun and playable for new members.

UI changes would be welcome, the few logo changes that are straight out of word art doesn't really cut it.

As a matter of principle, Justitia's Cult signs only optional treaties.  This philosophy pre-dates the advent of the non-chaining MD, but for simplicity's sake the aim is similar.  Barbula and anyone else who can read, continue on; everyone else, you stopped reading 10 words ago anyway.

The reasoning behind this is:  Justitia's Cult first and foremost is an entity unto its own, serving only the will of Justitia as interpreted by Her Presbyter; what terrestrial power can then bind us to service?  M-treaties are compulsory; their very nature removes control of an alliance's actions from its leadership and membership, they cede sovereignty into the hands of the other.  Justitia's Cult acts upon its principles; we may or may not enter any war whether we have a treaty or not, based upon the underlying cause of the war, its merits, the principles involved, and our ability to further Justitia's will by doing so.  Those alliances with which we sign a treaty are those whose ideals and principles closely match our own, such that when we sign a treaty, no government need question our loyalty to them, nor us theirs, and will know that Justitia's Cult will defend them where defense is warranted.  But we cannot and will not sign away that ability to discern.  "Optional" has a mewling connotation to the mewling politicians of the world, but for us does not mean "if we think we'll win" it means "because you are in the right, or because you are not."

I like that. I wish others would follow suit...
4. Overall bad, they rarely add anything new to the game. Usually end up drawing a few active members from major alliances in order to start. Generally they are unstable, ending up being a liability for their protector as they are unable to fend for themselves while very rarely being able to grow to a stage where they are no longer simply a pawn of a major alliance. They add too much complexity to the treaty web for their worth in an actual war. (except bickering, they are good at that).

:o Rude. Looks good though!

6. IAA, I thank you for all of the service and loyalty that you have again and again shown my former home and now humble ally GATO. Through times of extended pain and some of the worst hardships Bob has ever seen, GATO always had an ally to standby her side and fight the good fight. It was always a pleasure to do business with you. The relationship between GATO and IAA is like none other, good luck in your new home IAA. I am sure GATO is more than welcoming as you step into the General Assembly. It is sad to see you go.

o/ IAA
/o GATO

I don't remember it ever taking GATO years to recover..........GATO has always bounced back fairly quickly as I recall...and always stronger than what we were previously. You're weird.

Everyone is saying that we changed our attitude because we have "new friends".....you do realize we've been tied into CnG quite heavily for years now right?

Years to recover in relation to other alliances in the game, 7 million now is significantly different than the 7 million awhile back, though certainly not discounting the achievement I am truly happy you got there so don't attempt to skew this as "ZOMG I HATE GATO" because I most certainly do not and I wish the best to GATO. If GATO were stronger after every recovery, they'd be far on top of the world of CN, so be a bit mindful of history. Granted I also applaud the external stability. Also I made no mention of new friends, I am very much tied to CnG (obviously) and don't believe it had an effect on the integrity or culture of GATO. I am also quite aware of the politics concerning GATO/CnG et. al... I was rather referring to internal tendencies of late, not so much foreign affairs.
