Justinian the Mighty
We graciously accept your invitation to Minsk. Foreign Minister Lavrov will make travel arrangements for the earliest opportunity. Sometime later a small jet carrying the seal of the Slavorussian Government lands on a Belorusian runway near Minsk. The Foreign Minister and the rest of the delegation disembark the small passenger plane.
comrade nikonov
Stepping off the plane, Lavrov will see the newly appointed Prime Minister of Belarus, Tanya Dziahileva, waiting. "Greetings, Minister Lavrov!, I hope your stay here will be more than comfortable. However, our time is short, and we should discuss the topics at hand immediately." comrade nikonov
"Indeed. Recently, we entered a friendship with Deutschland, which we hope to be long lasting. Noting your friendship with them as well, we reasoned that further economic, political, and defense ties with Slavorussia would be advisable as well. If it is possible, we would like to establish an open border to foster trade, as well as military cooperation and possibly a political marriage to further our ties. Your thoughts?" Justinian the Mighty
"The Slavorussian government is very interested in pursuing a good relationship with Belarus. In times like these when it's hard to find new relationships it‘s important to mend the old ones.”
comrade nikonov
"Well then I propose that we jointly sign some sort of MDoAP with a Free Trade, Open Border, and Economic Liquidity clause. Do you have any objections or input?"
Justinian the Mighty
“That sounds fine, but I suggest starting with an MDP, and upgrading if it becomes necessary. The Slavorussian Parliament has never been fond of opening relations with an optional aggression pact.”
comrade nikonov
"That is true. Optional aggression may be taken as much more of a threat by other nations." Maybe this will suffice? Preamble: We, the sovereign nations of the Union of Belarus and Moldova (UBAM) and the Slavorussian Empire, in order to form a stable organization, ensure peace and security, and extend a sphere of peace and prosperity among the nations UBAM and Slavorussian Empire, do hereby establish this mutual treaty of military and political cooperation. Article I: Sovereignty Each of the nations bearing a signature on this treaty hereby declares that they will uphold the values and honor of said signatories’ sovereignty. They agree not to invade, interfere in internal affairs, or oppress the other signatory that partakes in this treaty. Article II: Non-Aggression Neither nation shall engage in hostile acts against the other. Hostile acts are defined as actions which have the intention to harm the other nation. In the event such acts happen, the nation at fault is expected to pay equal reparations, if requested. Article III: Mutual Defense In the event either nation falls under attack, the other nation is required to come to its defence and declare war on the nation that attacked it. A war on one nation is effectively considered a war upon the other Article IV: Open Borders Apart from standard customs and security checks, both nations see that it is extremely helpful to their economies and culture that an open border is promoted between Slavorussia and the Union of Belarus and Moldova Article V: Economic Both nations are required to not put any tariffs on imports from the other nation, and shall engage in free trade. Article VI: Cancellation In the event this treaty cannot last, and one nation does not see fit to continue it, that party may enact a cancellation period. This period will last for 72 hours, during which the treaty is fully active until the 72 hours are up, then this treaty shall be rendered as void.
