Interm Prime Minister Ishima Ryu has announced that the government will be giving all Kyokujitsujins a Yamato citizenship. After the fall of Kyokujitsu Teikoku, the Nation of the Rising Sun had been scattered, creating one of the largest diaspora in history. In order to bring back the nation together, Yamato will be allowing anyone who can prove their Kyokujitsu heritage to become a national. It is estimated that there will be over 50 million Yamato nationals when all the citizenships ahve been given out. All Yamato nationals will receive a National Identification containing the information needed to prove that the bearer is a citizen of Yamato. Secured with the latest encryption techonology, including the unique Fuyogo computer language, the ID cards are virtually impossible to forge or duplicate, ensuring that national security is not compromised.

Meanwhile, a new Immigration Control Law has come into effect. According to this law, all non-nationals cannot stay in Yamato for more than a week unless they report to the Immigration Administration Office to obtain an one-week extension. Only one extension is allowed per year. Exceptions are made to diplomatic/consular staff and their accompanying families, to workers contracted by the government, and to countries that have been given an exception by treaties. All non-nationals in Yamato are to carry with them at all times a Foriegner Registration Card which will be given upon arrival. Not having the Registration Card when checked will result in a fine of ¥5,000 and, if the authorities deem it necessary, deportation. This is for the safety and well being of residents in Yamato from hostile forces.

We find these announcements interesting, not in the least the open offer to Kyokujitsujins for application of national status. We wonder who would wish to leave their established lives and move to a foreign and alien country. We could extend such a offer to Wellingtonians, but we expect just like you would that very few if any would want to leave their homes for a new country.

**Secret**

"We really ought to obtain a copy of one of those cards. Encryption will not be an issue with our more advanced technology, while unique language is simply a way of saying, a unique complier translating into machine code."

This has little to do with us, other than the steady stream of those with a Kyokujitsu background who are now leaving the country.

We do note, however, the transportation industry is doing a booming business because of this mass exodus.

***Classified***

"Shouldn't be hard to slip three or four agents, I think, into all the people that are leaving. Do it."

Even if the cards were difficult to forge, as Yamato claimed, they wouldn't have to worry about it being fake. The agents in question would have real ID cards, not forged ones.

OOC: Can't have that many people leaving all at once. It's physically impossible--therefore the steady stream. :D And I figure there's no way to make security completely impregmnable. This is my way of evading it... ;)

Today the Shirakaba gas field has started production. Gas production is expected to reach 2.5 km³a year, equal to 40,000 barrels of oil a day. This will further reduce the need for oil to power Yamato's green economy, where no fossil fuels are used to run commerical powe plants.

Shirakaba gas field

The West Sea, called the East China Sea by the outside world, holds about 30 million tons of crude oil and 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas. With the firm hold over the sea through its territories in Senkaku, Bara (馬羅), and Lio(離於), Yamato has exclusive control over this vital resource, meaning it is effectively energy independent. Yamato shall be selling oil and natural gas at a discounted price to all countries that have a economic cooperation treaty with the Nation of the Rising Sun.

In addition to this, the smart grid system, a new form of electricity distribution over which data and communications will flow, has gone online throughout Yamato. With networked IT-enabled devices, consumers can see how much electricity they are consuming and modify their usage. Utilities can use variable pricing to discourage power use at peak times, smoothing out consumption patterns, reducing use of expensive and dirtier “peaker plants” and avoiding the need to keep these plants on permanent standby, saving large amounts of money. All meters are solid state and wireless connected, enabling immediate tracking of use and are equipped to respond to pricing signals. This means that peak moments can be anticipated and therefore reduce the need for spinning reserve, leading to energy efficiency.

The way power is generated and distributed has also changed, as the centralised system – a one-way flow of electrons from large generators – gives way to a more distributed model incorporating roof-top solar panels, ground source heat pumps and wind turbines. Further into the future is the opportunity for plug-in electric vehicles to sell power back to the grid. Cars could charge at night and store that power in their batteries. When needed, utilities could buy power back from vehicle owners at a higher price, yet at a cheaper rate than resorting to peaker plants.

The smart grid system could be installed without great cost doe to how the current territories of Yamato had been completely leveled during Shilla's gulagization. With no basis to build on, Yamato could start from scratch, thereby avoiding the high conversion that would have followed should there had been an existing infrastructure.

If you had a one way flow of electrons from the generators, you must have been working on a DC system, which for Power transmission and Power Electronic is only the second worst system to use be technically no electricity is the worst.

We wonder about all these "green" forms of energy, as many of them (such as solar panels) are DC current supply only, while heat pumps only work at ~10% efficiency, or theoretical maximums, while wind turbines are unpredictable and should not be used for base load supply.

We wonder about if any corrective capacitance or rectification has been built into this new system, and wonder why it is worth mentioning that you have solid state meters. All electronics in the last twenty years have all used solid state electronics, based on E-MOSFET technology, if you do not use solid state machines, expect to take up significant volume using something like BJT or even worse, vacuum tubes.

The Defense Development Agency said that it would begin developing a high-tech combat uniform in the upcoming months. Under the two-phase development program, the agency will develop a set of state-of-the-art battle dress uniform (BDU) and other military gear, including a bullet-proof helmet equipped with subminiature cameras and computer systems and a new rifle fitted with a day and night aiming device, an agency official said.

“The agency has completed studies on the concept of the future combatant uniform and equipment,” the official said, asking not to be named. “We plan to begin developing related technology and equipment soon.”

The official didn't specify the timeline.

In the first phase, he said, the agency will develop a new rifle, portable data-processing device, bulletproof helmet and vest, and other equipment. Soldiers will be able to aim at targets both day and night through the digital system of high-tech goggles, he said. The command post can communicate with soldiers in the field with the help of portable data-processing equipment, he added. The new helmet will be equipped with video transmission devices, Global Positioning System equipment and other long-range communication network systems, said the official.

Under the second-phase development program, the helmet will be upgraded to provide protective systems from nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) attacks, the official said. Soldiers will also have more advanced BDUs with functions for automatic temperature control and protection against NBC attacks, he added.

Meanwhile, the rifle has already been tested and could come online sooner than the rest of the outfit. The double-barreled assault rifle lets the shooter fire either 5.56 bullets - or 20-millimeter grenades, all off the same trigger. Day and night aiming is accomplished with a thermal target seeker and laser that calculates distance automatically--a true point-and-shoot.

In a shocking announcement today, Prime Minister Ishima Ryu told the nation that, in addition to the Tenchi Sengen, he will be moving the de jure capital to the city which the Chinese call Changchun. The new capital will be named "Shinkyo", meaning "New Capital".

The reason for this move is said to be that the city is situated at Northeast Asia's geometric center. South to NPR, north to Siberia, east to Korea and Hansa, and west to Mongolia. It is also an important transportation and communication hub of Manshu, ensuring its importance.

There has been much uproat among the nationalistsabout this move, saying that it goes against what Yamato stands for. However, the Prime Minister gave only a short response:

"Yamato is no longer just for the Yamatojins. If we are to be a true Nation of the Rising Sun, we must crack out of our self-binding chains."

The business world of East Asia is preparing for a major tectonic shift as Tenmu Heavy Industries, the flagship corporation of Yamato, announced that they have bought all the shares of Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Nippon Steel, JFE Holdings, and Japan Steel Works, converting the Japanese automobile and steel companies into wholly owned subsidiaries.

After the absorption of Neo Japan into the Hanseatic Commonwealth, the cutoff of subsidies given under the inefficient state capitalist system had led to massive bankruptcies among the largest car and steel manufacturers. Although Kawasaki Heavy Industries had been attempting to clean up the mess, Tenmu made the first move, literally unleashing a tsunami of capital in Tokyo and Osaka. The success of the acquisitions means Tenmu is now the undisputed automobile/steel empire of Northeast Asia.

Tenmu has released no further information, but it is expected that news of future plans will come up over the next month. We shall continue giving exclusive news.
