For those keeping count, it has been nearly fifteen years by Selenarctos Standard Time since the Anthony Harlem and Ms. Asgeiersson laid out the the Asgeiersson Doctrine and ratified the Oceanic Unification Pact, perhaps more commonly known as The Oceanic Union. "The treaty and the bloc it formed have helped the Oceanic region grow and develop. Though the Queendom of Australia faded into the past, the Oceanic Union carried on: stabilizing the region and supporting the growth of native, popular governments to emerge and prosper for years. "Revently however, the Oceanic Union has seen a change in direction. The stalwart states who founded her, all save Selenarctos, have receded and changed. The Bloc is no longer a union of states envisioning a land free from colonialism and foreign influence, both as the region and Selenarctos continue to evolve internally. "Today, I announce the end of the Oceanic Union. Selenarctos does hereby remove our signature, the last and oldest on the Oceanic Unification Pact, and end our support of the Asgeiersson Doctrine. "The Oceanic Union Bloc Council in Manila shall be dismissed in the coming days and representatives are thanked for their participation, but informed that their service will no longer be necessary. The lands currently held under Oceanic Union protection shall become the protectorate of Selenarctos proper, with all of the rights and protections entailed. "Selenarctos, as ever, remains committed to freedom and the right to self-governance. We shall always enchourage and respect the wishes of the people in our protectorates, and today I also announce the creation of the Selenarctos Peacekeeping Force. Under the joint jursidiction of the Department of Security and Department of Humanities, the Selenarctos Peacekeeping Force shall be responsible to provide protection and ensure order within the protectorates of Selenarctos. They shall work closely with the Selenarctos White Cross to ensure the local population's needs are met, and relieve the protectorate burden from the main body of the Selenarctos Army. "Finally, Selenarctos reaffirms our guarentee of protection to the United States of Oceanesia. In accordance with their wishes to remain a pacifist state and the cooresponding reduction of their military, Selenarctos has pledged and continues to pledge defense against external threats to the Oceanesian people. "Thank you once again for your time. I believe this to be the start of more changes to come, for Selenarctos and the Oceanic Region, and I beleive they are all for the best. Executive Minister Posted June 6, 2012 Report Share Posted June 6, 2012 The Principality commends Selenarctos on its commitments towards peace and stability in the region. Self governance is a right all territories should be privy to, it is good that even though the Oceanic Union is no more, Selenarctos remains. While we are glad to see that the false division between East Asia and the pacific finally come down, we are also glad to see selenarctos carry on some of the bloc's more noble roles. Knowz Posted June 7, 2012 Report Share Posted June 7, 2012 The United States of Oceanesia has noted this statement from Selenarctos and orders most of its representatives to the Oceanic Union Bloc Council home. A few representatives will remain behind and will now act instead as direct diplomatic representatives from the USO to Selenarctos. The USO now looks forward to building a stronger direct bilateral relationship with Selenarctos, which is the USO's oldest ally. With the ending of the OU, the USO reaffirms its commitment to peace and freedom as well as the promotion thereof in the regions which Oceanesian states are located in. The USO further invites any nations in the region to contact us to build new relationships if they so wish to if this announcement has lifted any barriers to previous attempts.
