The proposed design, which is to be built upon the lake of Gaborone Dam

Negotiations have secured Botswana's eventual admittance into the Federal Union of Southern African Republics; all that is left is the full integration of the territory as a member republic. The city of Gaborone has been agreed upon to be the seat of the Federal government, due to the apolitical history of the city's own construction. With the Republic of Botswana set to become a full member, projects to modernize infrastructure and social programs are well underway.

BREAKING NEWS: Terrorist Attack Cripples Free Trade Liberty Party

Reports are coming in that a large explosion has killed the majority of the Free Trade Liberty Party's bureaucratic and political officials. The operational and representative members of the party, along with several high-tier donators, were all celebrating the massive win for the party in both the Presidential and National Assembly elections. It appears a large truck-bomb was rammed through security and into the ball room where the festivities were taking place; its detonation destroying most of the building.

In a surprisingly turn of events, several key members of the Nationalist Green Party have claimed responsibility and have gone into hiding, promising to "fight the rape of this country from the streets and shadows." The Office of State Intelligence & Security has placed the Internal Security Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on full alert and has announced an arrest warrant on charges of Terrorism, High Treason, or Suspicion of High Treason, for all ranking members of the Nationalist Green Party.

Travel & Trade Ban with Asia Implimented

Following the continuation of various conflicts, as well as continued reports of the impossible leading to suspicions of some kind of hallucinogenic pandemic, the Federal government has implemented a full travel and trade ban with the regions of South Asia, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Non-European Russia (East of the Ural mountains).

Cape Republic Sues Federal Government In Wiretapping Case

After a series of surgical strikes across the Cape Republic against insurgents and terrorists, an interview with an anonymous member of the Office of State Intelligence and Security revealed that the strikes were only possible due to the wide-scale tapping of cell phone and radio broadcasts across the the Cape.

"The territory is the largest in the country, we were unable to implement the kind of on-the-ground intelligence assets we would normally use, so we went ahead and used the very generous warrant of operation granted to us by the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

While little formal law deals with this area, the Cape Republic has pushed for an interpretation of the Security Guarantee to claim a right to privacy against military-style-tactics such as radio interception, at least without a warrant granted by their own courts. More on this case will be reported as it unfolds.

Green Initiative Passes National Assembly

Citing the vast coal resources of the nation as a potential "bargaining chip in international trade," the National Assembly approved a series of laws which seek to switch the nation's power grid over to renewable resources, such as solar, hydro, and to a much lesser extent, geothermal and wind power. Geothermal power is expected to be a significant investment, but worth the benefit of becoming a carbon-neutral nation.

Terrorists in Walvis Bay Driven Into Countryside, Urged to Surrender

The violence in the Republic of Namibia has reached a climax after Internal Security Troops raided multiple residential and industrial locations in Walvis Bay. The Office of State Intelligence & Security has announced that the city proper is almost certainly free of terrorists now, and that they believe that the enemy has relocated into the local countryside where police presence is significantly lower. Radio broadcasts have included civil defense messages, giving instructions for civilians to report any suspicious activity, and urging the terrorists to stand down.

"We understand that these men and women see themselves as freedom fighters. But their fight is pointless, because the Union offers them freedom. We guarentee freedom of speech, freedom of travel, the right to vote for a civilian government. They have nothing to fear, and should they wish to simply remain anonymous and lay down their arms, I see no reason for us to push the issue. I urge all of those who seek to fight the government to simply realize that democracy is the right path, and to, well, retire." -Minister of Internal Affairs, Delize Jonker.

Construction of the government fallout shelter under the offices & assembly building have faced delays due to issues with the water table. While construction is possible, the costs have tripled, and the estimated finish date extended. The actual building complex, however, is on schedule, and should open within the month.

The Republican National Guard has stepped down into a full peacetime stance, with Internal Security Troops doing all of the fighting against any insurgent and terrorist forces in the nation. Standing divisions have returned to their bases. A full defense evaluation of the nation in terms of determining the location of new military bases is underway.

Republic of Swaziland Joins Jurisdiction/Privacy Case Against Federal Government

After Evidence of KSIS Intervention With Local Police

The Cape Republic's case against the Federal government, in which the republic's judicial branch is suing the Ministry of Internal Affairs on grounds on privacy and jurisdiction following a series of cellular and radio interceptions without warrant, has gained even more traction as the Republic of Swaziland has presented evidence that the Office of State Intelligence & Security meddled with local police and, "Gave instructions as to how Swaziland police were to go about certain cases involving anti-government individuals."

President Verdoorn has asked the Minister of Internal Affairs, Delize Jonker, to represent the Ministry of Internal Affairs personally in the Federal High Court, and released this statement to the public, "Ms. Jonker has long been my friend, and I know that she is a woman of strong moral character. Whatever missteps were taken by Internal Affairs must be found and corrected, and it is my belief at this time that these were isolated incidents committed by lower ranking bureaucrats and officers. She has confided in my as a friend that she has nothing to fear from appearing at court, as she has done nothing wrong."

Nuclear Strikes In Europe Confirmed; Travel Warning Becomes Ban

After the confirmation of nuclear strikes in Europe, the previous travel & trade warning has become ultimately a ban. While this is not a boycott of European goods, these goods must travel through other African states first. All European tourists from the affected nations have been offered a chance to apply for refugee status, given the violent nature of their home regions.

"Children mustn't grow up in a land where they fear nuclear war or being killed for their beliefs alone. A land where diplomacy comes in simple ultimatums backed by the gun. Here in Africa, even with our own civil problems, life is safer. Life has a chance to bloom, and children may have a childhood free of the threat of nuclear war." -President Verdoorn
