Mr. Yassin Al-Fulani and Mr. Anwar Fourak would then be conducted to the King's Office in Hill Palace where the King of Cochin, His Highness Kerala Varma would be standing to the side of his desk welcoming the delegation, "Greetings Mr. Al-Fulani, Mr. Fourak, and welcome to Cochin City. The world has largely quietened down of late and we are also using that time to make secure our peace, prosperity and security. We had received snippets of information about your insurgency problems and that now you are also helping the Australians in quelling their own problems. Of course there are small incidents still occurring, our troops have it under control, and have stabilized the country," noted al-Fulani. He paused, and continued, "We are in the process of instituting a rehabilitation program for captured insurgent fighters, that will help us reintegrate them back into society and have them make a meaningful contribution to our society." Fourak nodded, and added, "The insurgency in Communist Australia was a large uprising by an organiation called the Free Australian movement. President Dawkins dispatched a company of light infantry to Communist Australia after a large nighttime assault on Red Australian Army infrastructure, as well as Communist Australia government facilities. Once we learned the extent of the forces facing a stabilization of the region, we now have a reinforced Brigade Battlegroup in country, including around five battalions total, along with a few attached forces." Thankfully the Kingdom has not experienced any internal issues of that magnitude ever since the Communist insurgency several years ago. It had happened just after we had integrated Indian subcontinent to our nation. The Communists who felt alienated due to the people embracing our system started a campaign of violence and terrorism in several provinces of our nation which needed some time to fully crush it. It was during the reign of my uncle, His Highness Rama Varma, the previous King of Cochin. As we said in our invitation, it has for long been our policy that regional security is best served by peace and understanding between neighbors. As such it is only natural that our nations make an effort at greater coexistence and alliance. Strong diplomatic relations, a degree of alliance all woven through with a vibrant international trade and commerce which promotes mutual prosperity is surely the way forward. Would the Caspian Clique be open to a sort of alliance with the Kingdom? We are looking for an Optional Defense Pact along with a Preferential or Free Trade Agreement", Kerala Varma asked. Our companies are looking to increase their regional markets, and we are hoping that the Kingdom of Cochin would be a good market for goods flowing out of our country. We are also committed to regional security, as one of our promises publicly during the Baghlan Counterinsurgency Campaign, was to make sure violence didn't spill over into Shambala," nodded Fourak. We do not believe in active interference in issues in regions far away from ours. However within certain domains of regions we are actually quite interventionist,ie regions we deem to be vital for our national security. Basically we limit our full involvement to Indian Ocean Region, South Asia and Central Asia. Stability and security of these regions is vital for our own security and if and when we perceive any acts of coercion to undermine our security in these theaters we act." We also believe in peaceful transition of government, and why we may intervene in internal conflicts, at the behest of other national governments, outside of our sphere of regional interests. These interventions, however, are usually meant to help a peaceful transition of government, or to shore up a government who is legitimate but under duress. We admit that we got more then we bargained for when we involved ourselves in Communist Australia; one of our battalions suffered twenty-five percent casualties in one battle alone, for instance, but I believe the results of our actions there are appreciated regionally, and possibly globally, the result may pay big dividends for our country in the long run." We are as ever ready to give assistance to allies in their internal issues if and when they request it as we have done in former Madurastan, an allied nation that existed in Mongolia. We regret that we are only signing an Optional Defense Pact but we are quite sure that in time our diplomatic relations would blossom to such a maturity that we could be rightly allies befitting a bond such as Mutual Defense Pact or higher. I hope you would enjoy your stay in Cochin City while our Ministry of External Affairs prepare a draft treaty document to sign.
