JEDCJT
Announcement from the Republic of New England Months after the Republic of New England took over and established Territories in the regions of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland, law and order were imposed as crime and lawlessness, once so rampant following the apparent collapse of the former governments, became virtually nonexistent due to New England’s extensive law enforcement and judicial systems. Soon, following massive influx of funding and assistance from the federal government in Boston, the three territories soon became prosperous once again. The increase in prosperity was followed by the increase of happiness and wellbeing of its inhabitants. And so the inhabitants in each territory, desiring to participate in the New England government, lobbied their respective governments in Fredericton, Charlottetown, and St. John’s for statehood; thousands of petitions containing millions of signatures flooded the local and territorial government offices. Overwhelmed by popular opinion, the beleaguered governments of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland each sent appeals to Boston to be “admitted as Sovereign States in the Union of the Republic of New England”. After days and weeks of deliberations, both houses of the National Assembly finally approved of all three appeals, with over 2/3 majority each, and submitted a finalized bill to the office of the President. President Kennedy immediately signed the bill into law. National Proposition 0622-2009 (also known as the Maritimes Statehood Act) was now in effect; New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland was now the eighth, ninth, and tenth State in the Union, respectively. The news was greeted with near-universal celebration from the new citizens as they celebrated on the streets of Fredericton, Charlottetown, and St. John’s, along with many cities and towns throughout the new States. The new States chose their own formal names and state flags: Province of New Brunswick (Nouveau-Brunswick) State of Prince Edward Island (Ile-du-Prince-Edouard) State of Newfoundland (Terre-Neuve-et-Newfoundland) Following the formal incorporation into the Union, the Territorial Armed Forces, police departments, etc immediately became State militias, National Guards, state police/patrol, etc.
