World Peace Conference held

Today marks the first day that Pax Pacis begins to try and garner a world peace across the globe. Whilst a large number of nations have yet to attend and with a number of nations stating the difficulty of attaining world peace it seems that Pax Pacis has a struggle ahead of itself. However, Laura Kingswell has stated that she is determined to work towards peace

Artificial Muscle PLC forms

Artificial Muscle PLC a research and development business that works into developing, as the name suggests, artificial muscle has set up in the business district of Hansi. The business recieves a sizable amount of funding from the government but also a number of shares is owned by the public. Currently they are working on their name sake project which is detailed below

Research begins on Artificial Muscle

Artificial muscle PLC has began research and development on their main project. This main project has been deemed unclassified by the Pax Pacis government however, we are not able to provide too much details on the project all that we know is that the project is working towards developing a form of artificial muscle to replace electromagnetic actuators.

Pax Pacis defense Force formed

Today under orders by Motoko Kusanagi, now commandant of the Pax Pacis defense force, a number of factories in Pax Pacis have been converted to produce weapons and equipment for the volunteer pax Pacis defense force. Whilst it was hoped that Pax Pacis could remain without any military force, the latest conference held here has shown her that it would be a security risk to do so.

More research details released

The current project being undertaken by Artificial Muscle PLC has been revealed. They are working on producing EPAM. EPAM or Electroactive Polymer Artificial Muscle is a new emerging actuation technology that Pax Pacis hopes to use due to its improved energy density, that is, that is, more energy created per unit mass of the actuator itself. Below is a description given by one of the scientists at Artificial Muscle PLC.

How Does EPAM Work?

The basic EPAM architecture is made up of a proprietary dielectric elastomer that is coated on both sides with another expandable film of a conducting electrode. When voltage is applied to the two electrodes a Maxwell pressure is created upon the dielectric layer. The elastic dielectric polymer acts as an incompressible fluid expanding in the planar directions. Electrical force is converted to mechanical actuation and motion.

EPAM gets significant displacement from this electrostatic pressure as compared to other technologies. The overall displacement is a function of the area of EPAM, and the force exerted is a function of the number of layers of EPAM. These layers can be constructed in multiple planar configurations. Furthermore, the electrode layer of the EPAM can be patterned to achieve specific envelopes of motion.
