PresidentDavid
Confidential From The Office of The Governor of Texas To The Texas Department of Public Safety Director, With the ongoing conflict in the north I feel that it would be best for the National Guard to have more troops deployed to Dallas and Amarillo. While we are optimistic that the Plains Federation will continue to make large advances on the front, there is no harm in taking precautions. However there is a second front that needs to be covered and I feel we do not presently have a strong grasp on it: espionage. If anyone from these rebel groups are trying to sneak into Texas I would like us to at least know about it let alone catch them. I'm authorizing you to use resources including the Texas State Troopers and minimal resources from the Texas Rangers to complete this task. Need be, contact my office to get in touch with the National Guard. I do not want these people getting into Texas. PresidentDavid
Classified OPERATION LOCKED DOOR With permission from the Federal Government, Governor Sparks would contact the Commanding General of the Texas National Guard and inform him that Operation Locked Door was a go. From there, the Commanding General would alert forces at Fort Travis and Galveston Island that the operation was a go. The Texas Air National Guard's 1st Fighter Squadron and the 5th Fighter Squadron would take off from Ellington Field in the middle of the night and would escort five C-130J transport aircraft filled with a total of 460 Guardsmen outfitted to be paratroopers and another five C-130 aircraft filled with troop transport vehicles. From their launch point at Ellington Field, they would travel in a straight line to Key West International Airport where the soldiers would paratroop and secure the air traffic control facilities. Of the 460 paratroopers, only 300 had jumped to the airport. The remaining 160 would jump at the Key West Naval Station where they would make way for the incoming troop transports and secure the perimeter. All civilian traffic would be grounded and the C-130s would land. Two KC-135 refueling aircraft would remain in a holding pattern in order to refuel some of the jets so that the National Guard would maintain air superiority over the islands. The vehicles would be airdropped near the Naval Station and secured by the soldiers already there. Meanwhile, when the first word was released that Operation Island Paradise was a go, the Maritime National Guard would launch a small fleet headed by the FPS Sam Houston, the FPS Stephen F. Austin and followed by the FPS James Bowie. Three troopships which carried a combined total of 3,000 Texas Guardsmen from the 1st Infantry Regiment would swiftly make their way to the Florida Keys and dock at the Key West Naval Station. Once docked, the soldiers would disembark their vessels and quickly man the vehicles which had been brought there for them in advance. The Island of Key West would be secured first before anything else. Government buildings would be occupied and the Plains Federation flag would be raised above them. The police departments would also be secured before contacting officers and the Chief of Police of what was going on. If officers seemed complacent, they would be asked to help in keeping the public under control in the next few hours when the sun started to rise. Stock Island and Boca Chica Key would be secured next and all of the Keys through and including Virginia Key off the coast of Miami, Florida. Governor Sparks and President Reese would be kept up to date on the happenings of the mission in real time. The soldiers would have a foothold on all of the Florida Keys by seven in the morning. The populace would be allowed to travel where they wish, however no one would be allowed to come from or travel to Florida. Brigadier General James Fortworth of the Texas National Guard would adress the Florida Keys from local radio stations, explaining that the islands were now a part of the Plains Federation and would remain under military control by the Texas National Guard for a few more days until Federation Troops would arrive. From that point, the Federal Government would have control of the islands but, he predicted, the Federal Government would allow the status quo to return provided the populace behaved. Citizens would be given an option to leave the Keys and move to Florida, otherwise they would be made Plains Federation citizens. PresidentDavid
Classified The 1st Infantry Regiment and the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Texas National Guard would be deployed in order to assist Tikal in protecting the former Hawaiian islands of the Pacific. All ten Zar Class corvettes of the Texas Maritime National Guard would cross the Panama Canal along with troop transport vessels and meet the Maritime ships at Lazaro Cardenas with the permission of Tikal. From there, the ships would head for the Hawaiian islands to make their first landing and provide humanitarian aid to civilians and assistance requested by the Tikal Military. Forces would secure government buildings and any military installations on the islands. Meanwhile forward operating bases would be set up, humanitarian aid would be distributed, and only forces friendly to Tikal would be allowed on the islands. Strategic points in the city of Honolulu would be armed, certain buildings temporarily commandeered, and other services like water and electricity kept online. PresidentDavid
Classified The 3rd Infantry Regiment and the 4th Infantry Regiment of the Texas National Guard would be deployed to Hawaii immediately. Instead of coming with mostly humanitarian aid, they this time came with anti-ship weapons, missile-defense systems, and spare ammunition. Tikal would be made alert of what was being brought to Hawaii in order to defend it from any foreign aggressors, however the official public statement would remain that it was humanitarian aid - which was partially true because there was some. The Plains Federation ships would travel with the Tikal Navy when they could hitch a ride to Hawaii safely. The 3rd Infantry Regiment would land on Oahu and the 4th Infantry Regiment would land on Kauai. The soldiers on Kauai would immediately begin taking strategic points of interest, setting up defensive weaponry, and digging themselves into various spots in the mountains. PresidentDavid
Classified From The Office of The Governor of Texas To The Office of The General of the Texas Air National Guard General, As I assume you know, the State of Kansas is under attack what seem to be either nationalists from Nebraska or a greater fighting force. While I believe the Federation military can put this down without too much effort, I believe it is our responsibility to help in any way we can. I'm ordering that the 4th Air Wing be deployed to Kansas immediately and be fully armed and fueled. There are unconfirmed reports that paratroopers have dropped as far south as the Oklahoma panhandle or close to it. You are to see to it that all foreign bogies are shot down while on your way to Wichita. From there, coordinate with the Kansas Air National Guard in repelling whoever these foreigners are. In addition to the deployment of the 4th Air Wing, I am activating the 1st Air Wing to patrol north Texas, specifically Amarillo which I believe is currently the city most under threat. From what I have heard from the Federated government, Kansas Air National Guard radar intel was either hacked or scrambled which allowed up to 300 aircraft - many combat aircraft - in Kansas. Because of this, I am ordering that you have diagnostics ran on our radar and detection services and installations immediately. Until the diagnostics are complete, crosscheck all intelligence with the Air Force's radar intel. I will be contacting the Texas Army National Guard shortly. Expect a big uptick in soldiers across the board. While I believe the Federation military can put this down without too much effort, I believe it is our responsibility to help in any way we can. I am ordering that the 18th Corps, consisting of 20,000 Texas soldiers, to be deployed to Kansas once they are mobilized. The Texas Rangers in Amarillo believe that paratroopers may have landed somewhere north of the Oklahoma Panhandle and pose a serious threat to Amarillo and the mostly undefended rural areas of the Texas panhandle. You are to eliminate all enemy combatants that pose a threat. Coordinate with the Air National Guard to go ahead and paratroop soldiers into Kansas however I warn that a sizable portion of the State may be under threat within the next few hours. Proceed with caution and be ready for combat. I am in contact with the Governor of Nebraska who has reported to me that Wichita is currently not under siege of any type but intel believes it will be soon. Everything above Interstate-70 is believed to be under control by this group while there may be scouts closer to Texas/Oklahoma panhandles. I am also ordering the activation of 1st Corps and the 2nd Corps, consisting of 40,000 Texas soldiers, to move into FOBs in north Texas outside of the metropolitan areas of Dallas/Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Lubbock, Amarillo, and any other strategic points that you may find of value. The 1st Air Wing of the Air National Guard will be providing your men air support. I advise that the 3rd Corps and 4th Corps, consisting of 40,000 men, but put on battle-ready alert and head to their bases immediately in case of need for deployment. I will try to make contact with the President shortly. PresidentDavid
Confidential The General The Texas Army National Guard activated 3,000 guardsmen that would assist the Texas Maritime National Guard in transporting the materials to Alaska and Greenland. The Admiral of The Texas Maritime National Guard directed seven Zar Class Corvettes to escort storage vessels to Greenland and Alaska along with the few thousand National Guardsmen who would construct their own air, army, and naval facilities at the Tikalian bases. While the Texas National Guard did not have large naval ships at the time, the facilities would be accommodated to house such ships for when the Maritime Guard built it them later. PresidentDavid
Confidential 5 San Antonio Amphibious Transport Docks were built and set to sea at Port Arthur. The day almost came to a tragic end when the ships were all nearly grounded in the sandy, sludgy bottom of the water of the short straight which connected the Sabine Lake to the Gulf of Mexico. Luckily, they made it into the Gulf without running aground but would not be able to go back up the river into the Lake again. They would head to the Port of New Orleans fully manned and armed. The Mayor of New Orleans would be notified and the Texas Government would be billed for the space the ships would take up when docked. Once room was made at the Port of Houston or the Port of Galveston, the ships would head there and wait for their first deployment, assignment, or training exercise. The Admiral of The Texas Maritime National Guard sent a classified message directly to the Governor's Office that the Sabine River which connects the Gulf of Mexico to the Sabine Lake needs to be dredged for the national security of the Plains Federation and to allow Port Arthur to actually be viable to construct warships. PresidentDavid
Classified The entire first fleet of the Texas Maritime National Guard would be deployed to Port Ni'lhau in Hawaii where they would begin training exercises. By the time the first fleet made it to Hawaii, the first aircraft carrier for the Plains Federation would be set into the Pacific Ocean fully armed, manned, and ready to set sail anywhere in the world. The Nimitz Class aircraft carrier had been built thanks to the hard work of thousands of Maritime Guardsmen and a very nice grant from the Federated government. PresidentDavid
Top Secret OPERATION ICILE After permission was granted from the Federated government, Governor Sparks called back one Arleigh-class destroyer from the Pacific to escort multiple transport vessels to the Antarctic Ocean. On board other than the crew were 500 soldiers of the Texas Army National Guard Corps of Engineers and tons of building supplies. The troops would split up to occupy Orcadas Base and Signy Research Station. The Federation and Texas flags would be raised above both stations. The first objective was to establish permanent radio contact with the small flotilla off the coast of the island and a secondary objective was to set up a small radio beacon which would be easier said than done because of the height the island's peaks. When it was finally done, however, radio contact would be established with any vessel that would come over the horizon. Satellite communications would later be established directly to National Guard Headquarters in Austin a research centers in Houston. The soldiers quickly built multiple barracks at Orcades Base to house the soldiers for the night. Supplies like generators and heating equipment were also brought to the islands. While the bases were somewhat snowed in, the stations had only been recently abandoned and were still recoverable. A small wind farm of a few wind turbines were set up to power the Orcades Base. The final main objective were to set up small radar installations which were capable of seeing a few hundred miles out. Once this was done, the Governor was contacted that the mission was accomplished. Enough food was unloaded from the ships to last those who were staying a few months. The soldiers would most likely fish as well while their scientist friends researched the wonders of the world. Scientists would come in droves in the following weeks, however an immediate wave of forty arrived within the next few days to begin research. A short press statement was released declaring that the South Orkney Islands were claimed for the Plains Federation. PresidentDavid
Classified The Texas National Guard was making good progress considering they were on a frozen rock in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. "Frozen Rock" is a harsh term, perhaps. The soldiers who were at the island were qualified to build structures and install the sensitive equipment on the island, but volunteered to come with the incentive of an impressive bonus. Some of the Guardsmen truly wanted to go because visiting the Antarctic had been a lifelong dream, or visiting an island, or just visiting a place that was basically a frontier even for modern civilization. The island was beautiful. It's long treks of snow were immaculate; covering the landscape in a smooth blanket that extended to the coast and either stopped at the rocky beaches or at jagged cliffs. Only a few coves or harbors provided a safe place to set up base camps, while the rest of the island was a snowy, independent mystery. Scientists already had begun to arrive and were preparing to conduct studies on the ecology of the island and the waters around it. Many of the scientists didn't like the soldiers snooping around or taking constant pictures in an environment that could be extremely fragile or hosting undiscovered/endangered species. The soldiers saw the scientists more as killjoys than appreciators of the island. While they established their short military patrols throughout the sparsely populated base camp, had snowball fights, played cards, or did anything else the twenty-two year old men could think of, the scientists were complaining about how some of their beakers were broken or a soldier was smoking. "Bla bla bla" as one soldier said in an imitation. Though their points of view were different, the soldiers and scientists got along well enough. In the following days the soldiers had set up three wind turbines and built a small fishing dock. The radar and communications systems were up and running. Perhaps the biggest challenge now was getting more scientists to the islands, building more dwellings and laboratories, and establishing a medical ward. Houston had one of the best medical centers in the world, and most likely the best in the Americas. Doctors were offered double their pay to come to the island and fill the positions of the needed five doctors. They were expected to arrive soon, though soon could not be soon enough. A medical catastrophe could be the worse disaster to strike the men there, but luckily nothing like that had happened.
PresidentDavid
Classified The doctors arrived to the island without much hassle at all. Communication was successfully established with the ship when it was about fifteen miles out at sea, proving that the Guardsmen knew what they were doing along the lines of radar and coms installations. The medical ward was in very good condition compared to what many other Antarctic facilities had to deal with. A shipment of antibiotics, anti-virals, and some steroids was sent with the doctors along with other medical equipment and fluids. Four young doctors, and one who had more "expeirance" as older people like to say, began their duel work of studying microorganisms on the island and tending to the health of the scientists. The wind turbines successfully produced electricity around the clock. The strong Antarctic winds on the island provided a magnificent source of energy that was clean, affordable, and infinite. Signy Research Station was still powered on diesel generators but plans were made to either soon construct their own wind turbine there because burring power lines would prove to be futile in the permafrost. A small battery of anti-ship and anti-missile weapons were on the island - painted white to blend in with the environment - but the mission of the island was to have a peaceful observatory and research station for the scientists. Satellite communication was set up between Houston and the island for the scientists and doctors. The National Guard's plan was to keep the base staffed during the winter as well, something many Antarctic facilities did not attempt until they were well-acclimated with the conditions of an Antarctic winter and the harsh weather and lack of sunlight that came with it. Governor Sparks made sure a large amount of money was going towards the facility so that this could happen. Heating supplies, building materials, and plenty of non-perishable food was either being stored there are ready to be sent. The largest advantage the island had going for it was that because it was a mainland facility, it could still be reached in the winter. Granted a ship may have to overcome monumental waves and terrible weather, but it could be done theoretically. For now, it was a race against the clock to get everything ready for Fall. "Fall" somewhat lost its meaning over there on the island. There weren't any trees for leaves to fall from. Autumn would have to work for now. The true seasons there, however, were "Winter" and "Day-After-Tomorrow Winter". It's a movie reference.... I hope you got it because I thought it was funny. PresidentDavid
Classified Immediately following confirmation that the government of Tikal had collapsed, the 10,000 troops of the Texas National Guard stationed in Hawaii would immediately take control of the other islands and military facilities on the islands. All strategic, economic, and communications outposts would be seized as quickly as possible. Defensive positions were taken by the troops after having been given orders from command to secure the Hawaiian islands. A brief international proclamation was made that the Plains Federation National Guard was now protecting the Hawaiian islands. The proclamation explicitly stated that the only troops there were there to keep peace and defend the islands. No offensive measures were being planned from the islands, and no weapons were being produced or shipped to or out of the islands.
