Pericles Posted October 6, 2013 Report Share Posted October 6, 2013 The Ptolemaic Empire The Ptolemaic Empire is a Greek speaking kingdom located on the island of Cyprus, in the Mediterranean Sea. While not being exclusively Greek in the most puritanical sense (being greek cypriots), the Ptolemaic empire tends to blend the culture of the island with the Hellenization that has dominated the island for many ages. The empire is a monarchy, with a strict caste system based upon the paternal rule of ancient Rome, paterfamilia. The roles in society are governed by which class a person is born into. There are helots, perioikoi and citizens. Most state and religious leadership is exclusive to citizens, whereas the military accepts from all three. TBC...
