This "one must has a bank account" tangent is certainly bizarre.
^ Agreed. Really odd...

Anyways... while this may be a viable option for micro alliances, and you may have the best intentions, I can't say I would personally go for it. Also, as mentioned by a few others, are you guys not concerned about the responsibility / liability that would come with offering this service? There is no shortage of drama llamas and conniving players out there who would possibly take advantage of your attempts at generosity.

If you do decide to go forward with this - best of luck. :)

We were hacked before switching over to SMF, they got our passwords from IPB which carried over to SMF so were able to access some of our members accounts under the new SMF forums.

I see... that sucks. SMF allows you to mass e-mail all members of your forum, so you might want to send one out asking everyone to change their password (if you haven't done so already). Anyways... thanks for the reply. Best of luck with sorting out the mess.

We already switched to SMF but they got us before that.
They got us with SMF too guys. SMF isn't much safer
We found out that the passwords were compromised after we moved over so now all the old vulnerable passwords are active on the SMF version. We've pretty much locked the boards down for now and will figure out our next step once out tech guys get on tomorrow.

I would do something but I'm a noob at this kind of stuff.
So... these replies confuse me. Can you please clarify: You were hacked before switching to SMF or after switching to SMF? Thanks.

  4. Some people do not know or understand the information provided in the OP. With the recent forum hackings and people getting all paranoid about their forums being next, it's perhaps not a waste of time (or "for nothing") to remind everyone of this info. Thanks, OP.
