In this time when new alliances effervescently spawn with shocking rapidity, I find it a prudent time to announce this declaration of existence of the You Are All Idiots™ alliance. We are currently lacking a flag, but I promise that it will be as flashy and/or professional a flag as can be found in other the other fine alliances that populate this world. Coincidentally, we are now accepting commissions for a flashy and/or professional flag by people who make flashy and/or professional flags for the generous price of my undying love and support. (Undying support may be canceled for any reason with no prior notice)
PreambleWe, the numerous nations of the You Are All Idiots™ alliance, hereby adopt this charter with the promise to cheat, lie, manipulate, and otherwise deceive friends and enemies alike in our quest for moral superiority and larger statistics.
Article I: Government
A. The You Are All Idiots™ alliance has transcended the need for a cohesive and stable government
Article II: Membership
A. Any member joining must have the mental acumen to place the You Are All Idiots™ moniker in their alliance affiliation.
B. Membership is terminated when a member’s presence endangers, embarrasses, or otherwise inconveniences the alliance; these former members are considered rogues, ghosts, or a variety of other unpleasant labels
C. All members may speak their views unless these views conflict with the views of the alliance
Article III: Defense and Aggression
A. The You Are All Idiots™ alliance reserves the right to declare war at any time for any reason, though our reasons will be relayed through a series of forum propaganda and backchannel talks
B. The You Are All Idiots™ alliance honors all treaties and will not cancel during imminent war times
C. The You Are All Idiots™ alliance reserves the right to suspend treaties at any time
D. The You Are All Idiots™ alliance will treat all allied leaders as living deities and actively praise said leader's heroic deeds; all allied leaders forfeit this praise upon treaty cancellation and may be subject to ridicule, spite, and nasty forum posts expressing our distaste.
Article IV: Charter Amendments
A. The charter of the You Are All Idiots™ alliance is perfect; any members found criticizing the charter will have their membership revoked; any outsiders found criticizing the charter will be ridiculed and viciously assaulted
Article V: Ratification

People still don't seem to realize that, in the long run, people forget about the "why" and only remember the "what." FAN was pretty much the butt of almost all jokes for a good couple of months after NPO resumed hostilities, yet they were hailed as they returned into the political arena. There was a huge amount of animosity toward ES's not-forced forced disbandment, and yet ElectronSponge has a huge cult of personality surrounding him. Now let's predict what will happen if NPO is kept in eternal war: NPO will most likely be the butt of almost all jokes for a good couple of months, and a huge animosity toward Moo's not-forced forced disbandment of several alliances. See where this goes? The great victory over the horrible NPO will only be remembered as such until someone with a political goal and a mind for propaganda comes along and spins you as the horrible monster.
"But AbysmalPea!" you exclaim. "The NPO deserves eternal war or disbandment for all its horrible deeds!"
Yes, but so did FAN. So did LUE. So did GOONS. So did \m/. The NPO wouldn't have survived for years if other alliances find this as acceptable behavior. And yet, all of these alliances are seen through only rose-tinted glasses.
I still don't see how those presenting these terms can be so stupid as to not see the long-term ramifications. The NPO will be the least of their worries six months down the line.

Fortunately, history is no longer being written by those with a self-serving agenda. There is a very long and documented chronology of what NPO did and exactly why this punishment (barely) fits the crime.
NPO will get no pity points for finally meeting its comeuppance.
History is always written by those with a self-serving agenda. Happiness, peace, and prosperity only last as long as it takes for a man with a political mind and a desire for power to join up and start wreaking havoc. And NPO is already getting pity points. Most Karma alliances certainly aren't handing out any, but those previously allied to the NPO continue to sympathize.

The people who thought of these terms are stupid if they don't see the long-term political implications.
You're pretty much guaranteeing pity points for NPO and alienating everyone who doesn't agree with you, all because NPO "deserves" punishment. "Deserves" is a dangerous word in the pragmatic world of politics, because when people look for the next alliance to bring to the chopping block, people don't remember why you did things; they only remember what you did.
Just cowboy up and deal with it like a man, you fat cow.We did.

I like how the first Red Cross thread was full of praise and support and this one is basically full of goons.

So basically what I'm getting out of this thread is that there were small alliances on red and now there's a bit more small alliances on red.
Somehow this translates into breaking down the Iron Curtain even though it's more like a couple refugees hopping over the wall in places where the barbed wire hasn't been maintained.

Karma is about to kill the concept of responsibility in CN. The irony is that they think their revolution will bring about restrain, mercy and compassion. No. The Pax Karma will be one in which all leaders know no matter how horrible their acts they will face no consequence. If all you have to fear is a brief smack to the face which you can rebuild from swiftly, a stern talking to (or slap to the wrist) so to speak, we will see levels of cruelty and abuse of power never before seen.
Before all moves have to weigh national/alliance interest against the potential consequences, the ironically named Karma coalition is bringing about an age in which people no longer face consequence thus leaving them to behave in a purely self-interested way. Scary future...

Now they have people who every time somebody mentions punishing NPO for their crimes you here the cry of "hypocrites you are just as bad as them." "You are just the same as NPO." I call BS. Nobody is calling for NPO to spend a year under a Viceroy. Nobody is calling for Moo to be banned from the game. Nobody is calling for the disbandment of NPO.
The problem with this is that many people actually are calling for some of these things to happen. I'll pull up a couple of posts myself if you can't find any examples.

Yes, but you could say the same thing about the Judge/jury/w.e judging the murderer. There is a difference.
Even still, calling it karma is just a glorified term for vengeance.
The point of the justice system is rehabilitation and removal of unsavory elements in society, not vengeance. I have no qualms with Karma alliances removing their unsavory element, the NPO, from power.
However, whether this war is just vengeance or karmic fate remains to be determined. After all, no surrender terms have been accepted as of yet.
