Federal Constitutional Convention to be convened

Congress announced today that a Federal Convention to draft a Constitution for the United States of Oceanesia will be convened within a month. The constitution will detail the powers of the federal government and will also include a Charter of Rights and Liberties.
The exact details are to be ironed out at the federal convention but it is expected that the federal government will take the shape of a semi-parliamentary and semi-presidential system. The federal legislature will be bicameral with one chamber expected to represent the states and give each state an equal vote, and another chamber which will represent the people and be directly elected by voters - the second chamber is also expected to be given control over votes of confidence/no-confidence in Cabinet officials, who may be required to resign if they do not retain the confidence of the people's representatives.

Election schedule

Congress also released a loose schedule for elections today:

*Local government elections within 3 days.
*State government and legislative elections within a week (for states which have not yet held these elections - New Zealand and Nusa Tenggara Timur already have).
*Federal government and legislative elections within 2 weeks.

South Torres Strait Islands admitted as 5th state

The tiny Oceanesian territory of the South Torres Strait Islands was admitted to the USO as the 5th state today, as a result of a vote in the Intercontinental Congress (4 to 0; all states - New Zealand, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Timor-Leste, and Maluku - voting in favour). Although there are concerns of voter power disparity because each state only gets one vote in the Oceanesian congress regardless of population, the fact that a permanent constitution mandating a bicameral federal legislature is on its way led to all of the current states, whose populations are thousands of times more than the South Torres Strait Islands' population, voting in favour of admission.
The Oceanesian flag was updated accordingly - a fifth point being added in the Federation Star in the flag's canton.

"On behalf of all Oceanesians I thank you for recognition of our neutrality - indeed, not only are we neutral, we are also a pacifist nation - we hope that one day eternal peace will prevail on Earth. And we are also quite pleased that you approve of the proposed trade agreements" replied Vice President Julia Manuel.

OOC: [s]I must be going now (explains the short post) - I'll try writing a more substantial post tomorrow so we can get through this a little faster. :P[/s] [Edit 3: Well, looks like it'll have to be the weekend, I'm really busy now. -.-]
+ would you like to draft a treaty for the proceedings or shall I?

7. OOC: Yes, lets do this fast, I'll be all tied up in a day or two. By the way, the Vice President is a she. :P

"The pleasure is all mine your highness" Vice President Julia Manuel would reply, with a curtsey, continuing:

"If I may - we could begin the discussion on the main objective of my visit here... our proposals concerning my country's neutrality and additionally, if the Athenian Federation looks upon it kindly, the signing of a free trade pact, and other agreements to bring our two nations closer together..."

State elections in Maluku, Timor-Leste

The Oceanesian states of Timor-Leste and Maluku are expected to hold elections for their state governments soon. Thus far only the two largest states, New Zealand and Nusa Tenggara Timur, have elected state governments.
The State elections will then pave the way for federal elections soon afterwards - currently the Intercontinental Congress is acting as a the interim federal government. Local government elections will also be held along the way.

OOC: It was a real-life project and temporary sexual feelings toward the same gender has some merits to it within the scientific community.
OOC: Not to start arguing over this :v: (this will be my last post likely), but nonetheless it's rather insulting. Also, having taken a uni course in psychology with sexual orientation as a topic included - I can say this is more or less impossible. Temporary feelings which swing between the genders (whether from the opposite to the same or vice-versa) is generally only possible for bisexuals.
But, hey, this is all just RP'ing so I'm not going to fight over this - just should be known that some people can be hurt by this, and we should be careful to not post things which may insult people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Well, that's what I have to say - and with that this is hopefully my last post on this. :P

The tiny Oceanesian territory of the South Torres Strait Islands is expected to become the 5th state in the USO - alongside New Zealand, Nusa Tenggara Timur, Timor-Leste, and Maluku - soon. An official referendum will be conducted in the islands in the weeks to come on official admittance as a state. The current 4 states have shown mixed feelings towards admitting STSI however, due to it's tiny population of only a few thousand people compared to the millions in each of the current states.

OOC: I sincerely hope that this is a joke - not only is that impossible (considering that scientific consensus is that sexual orientation is naturally determined - whether heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, or asexual - and not changeable -- and RL science and realities apply to CNRP I believe), but it is also grossly insulting to anyone on these forums who happen to be LGBT (especially since you're comparing "homosexual desires" to drug addiction, which makes this even more insulting).
I kindly OOCly request that you remove that.
