1. My fellow hitchhikers, It seems like only yesterday I stumbled into this alliance as a confused, scared, and hopeless newbie. Well, I'm still a bit confused, and some would people would argue I might be a bit insane, but I survived. The first few months were confusing and overwhelming, something I think we all can relate to in the beginning of our nations' histories. I had so many questions. Just what exactly is a pan-galactic gargle-blaster? How in the world does one pronounce MHAil? Will I ever remember the name of the different ministries?!?! Why don't the MHA forums come with GPS navigation? Eventually, all of those questions were answered and in the process, I realized one important thing: the most striking characteristic that eased me into the cyberverse and set this alliance apart from so many others was the bond between its members. I think it's something not to be taken for granted. Our community is one built on fun, camaraderie, and the ability to function together as a group. Our greatest strength in this alliance is our membership and this can be evidenced by the close ties that those who choose to leave us keep. Today, the Triumvirate has the pleasure of addressing you all on the fourth birthday of our alliance. This will be the second birthday that I have witnessed at MHA. I've seen a lot of great things happen in that time and I've met a lot of great people from all walks of life. For some of you, your journey here has just begun. We welcome you to your first birthday celebration and hope that you realize that you are every bit as integral to this alliance's success as any other member. To those of you who have been here for as long as I have, or even the many members who've been here longer, we wish to extend a hearty MHAil to you for your service. To hitchhikers past, we have not forgotten you. Your accomplishments and your trials, tribulations, blood, and sweat shall forever be a part of this alliance. We hope that wherever you are and wherever your galactic path has taken you, you've kept your towel handy nearby. To those of you who have never called yourselves hitchhikers, we wish to invite you to join in on the occasion with us. After all, this big cyberverse of ours is of all of our making. Our forums are always open to you. I'm well known for my large walls of texts and so I'll spare you from the rest of my Winston Churchillesque speech and get to the fun part. Also, just before you think you've made it through this announcement unscathed, Cable77 has created his own birthday video that we'd like to share with you now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf_mCZnnUhE Without further ado, let's get this party started!! Starting today and for the next seven days, we will celebrate our existence and our accomplishments. We will hold games and contests, many of them with prizes! Each particular contest will be in a thread specifying the rules, prize, and time frame. Some may take place on the forums, some on online gaming forums, and some on IRC. A big thank you to Count Rupert for donating eight $25 donations! Thank you very much to everyone else who donated prizes as well. To join in on the celebrations, simply sign up on our forums if you haven't already and go to the following url: http://mostlyharmlessalliance.com/viewforum.php?f=787 Happy fourth Birthday, MHA Signed, Dynasty, Triumvir Cable77, Triumvir Jadoo1989, Triumvir
 2. Wooo! GO MHA and RnR! May our hammocks always sway together
 3. True there, darn those pesky satirists!
 4. That's why there's a subtitle contained under the title which reads, in English, "Regarding our PIATs". I'm pretty sure that's a good clue that the announcement is regarding our PIATs.
 5. Ladies and Gentlemen of Bob, Over the course of the last few days, MHA informed all of its PIAT partners of our intention to cancel all PIATs and discontinue the practice of entering into PIAT agreements. Traditionally, PIATs have been used as a stepping stone to larger, more binding agreements. Most of our current PIATs have been enacted for a very long time and have not served the purpose for which they were originally intended. Furthermore, we assert that the friendship, trust, and cooperation required of obligatory treaties is better earned through hands on, practical involvement between two parties. We recognize that PIATs do serve a symbolic purpose, but we believe that in some instances, they numb the signing parties to what really needs to be done. They numb us to what it takes to move on from their level and as such, many of them often remain dormant for long periods of time. The MHA will always be seeking to make friends with new people who share our vision and interests. We merely hope to do so in a way where actions will speak louder than words in a PIAT when it comes to establishing relationships. To our old PIAT partners, we extend to you the invitation to meet with us and get to know us, should you desire. Our decision lies in the attempt to take a more pragmatic approach to the establishment of relationships and is not due to any grievances, neither individual nor collective. 6.
What most of those names have in common is they were MHA allies right up until they ended up on the losing side of a war and MHA enters on the other side to ensure their defeat in a war they're already losing.
Please get your facts right, the only person we engaged was IRON, the others engaged us. So in fact, they ensured their own defeat. Nice try though. Also, which of them were our allies?
 7. Actually, I brought the concern up to TOP weeks ago and was simply told it was 'coalition aid' and that Crymson wasn't aware. I guess by the tone of your post, he probably was though. Thanks for posting a detailed response, though. It's good to see. You are right, however, communication could've been better.
 8.
Pathetic cancellation! I really love the way you mention the aiding your enemy crap, it obviously crippled your alliance. TOP are fighting for the existance of their alliance and you ditched them for the new in crowd and whined on about a little bit of desperately needed aid while your buddies are run out of existance. Grow a set and admit the truth, you sat back and watched one of your best friends get crushed and now ditched them for the ones who crushed them. Days like this make me wish for a return to the days of GPA being number 1. They may have been hippys but at least they didnt ditch a good friend who is being beat out of existance and make a lame attempt to make it look like it war their fault. P A T H E T I C! Dont expect ally of the yeay this year. PATHETIC!
I really think you're grasping at straws here. TOP wasn't just standing there minding their own business on a street corner when someone came along and mugged them, no. They decided that they wanted to have a few beers and drive their mustang full speed into a wall because the wall called them names and looked at them funny. We did our part. We asked them to stop drinking, we asked them not to drive. We were ignored. Their being 'crushed' (still think that's a bit of an overkill) wasn't exactly some unforseen accident. Point is, we don't decide to attack blocks of alliances because they troll us on the OWF. They are fighting for the existence of their alliance? No, not hardly. Thanks for your input though, I guess I won't be getting any christmas cards from you?
 9.
TOP is better off without a cesspool anyway.
I agree, who needs a cess pool when you can dump your sewage in the river?!
 10.
Should really talk to your own alliance mates prior to making a plea to OWF.
Why thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to issue gag orders and set up an MHA patriot act with your new found wisdom. Also, comprehension is key. The sentence before hand states: " also hope that despite what has happened here, our members, both in and out of government, can speak together with courtesy and respect". See, in English, the words 'we' and 'our' are called inclusive pronouns. When one uses inclusive pronouns, one is actually including themselves as objects in the statement. Therefore, when I said I hope that 'our members' remain cordial, the statement was universal. Therefore, it applied also to my members. Please think the next time you try to make a snide comment.
 11. Ladies and Gentlemen of Bob, It has been a while since I've addressed you all on behalf of the Mostly Harmless Alliance. I write here today with a heavy heart. Prior to this current conflict, the relationship between Paradoxia and MHA was TOP notch (notice the pun? ). Unfortunately, the weight of this conflict, the inability between both parties to agree together on events, and the fact that both parties have made decisions that led to the deterioration of the relationship, both in spirit and in contract, has severely crippled the bond between our two alliances. Leadership from both of our alliances have met on several occasions to try and maintain control of the situation. We have discussed our issues together, from TOPs attack on CnG and our attack on IRON, to TOPs aiding of an enemy of ours to whom they held no direct ties and who only had one opponent, us. We have both tried to explain our positions, but it has been found time and time again that we simply cannot agree to understand each other's points of view. In between the talks, there has been large gaps of uneasy silence. As it stands, we cannot even agree fully on the cancellation of this agreement because we are too busy defending the decisions I have outlined above. All in all, the bond that was once there now seems to have broken. In light of this, some days ago, MHA alerted TOP of our intent to activate Article 5 of our Harmless Paradox MDoAP.
Article 5: Cancellation 1. This treaty may be cancelled by either party as a result of: a ) Failure of a signatory to come to the other's aid within 36 hours as per Articles 2.1 and 2.2. b ) Failure of the signatories to resolve a conflict of interpretation, as outlined in Article 4.3. c ) Voluntary withdrawal of either signatory. In the event that either signatory chooses to terminate this pact, seven days prior notice must be given to the other signatory. 2. Upon termination of this pact via any of the means outlined in Article 5.1, this pact shall revert to a non-aggression pact. This pact will last a minimum of five days; should neither signatory then choose to cancel the non-aggression pact, then it will endure until such a time as one signatory does opt for cancellation. 3. In the event that neither signatory opts to cancel the non-aggression pact within 24 hours of the expiration of the 5th day, Article 1.3 will come into effect.
In addition, we have alerted TOP that we will also be opting out of the NAP. The reasons for this are strictly organizational and are not meant to be taken as anything otherwise. We are just in the course of discussing dissolving the use of non-military treaties and don't want to have to deliver another cancellation should we find that we are abolishing the use of said documents. In closing, we want to express our sincere thanks to TOP for the months of friendship we did have. Although the relationship has been damaged to this point, I hope we can one day find it within ourselves to at least put these events behind us. I also hope that despite what has happened here, our members, both in and out of government, can speak together with courtesy and respect. It's my hope that this topic remain cordial and not descend into chaos, but I'm not naive and I know how the OWF works. Signed, Triumvirate of the Mostly Harmless Alliance Jadoo1989 Pudge1975 Majorddf
 12. Ladies and Gentlemen of Bob, Earler today, leadership from NADC, MCXA, and Echelon approached MHA, Fark, and FOK seeking peace terms. The three of us have decided to extend the same terms to NADC, MCXA and Echelon as were given to GGA and TUF: peace with no reps providing that NADC, Echelon, and MCXA do not rejoin the conflict and remain neutral throughout the duration of the war. In addition, Fark will be needing their customary beer reviews . Beer reviews must be sent to Fark no later than 14 days after this announcement. Otherwise, Fark will be angry, and nobody likes an angry drunk. I'd like to wish all of our opponents well in the rebuilding process. It's been a pleasure getting to know some of you while glowing. Also, to those of you who've read our consecutive announcements, I apologize for the repetitiveness. In an effort to shake things up, I found the following photo: Signed for MHA Jadoo1989, Triumvir Pudge1975, Triumvir Draden, Triumvir Signed for Fark Randomly Jim - Submitter Tumultuous Papaya - Squirrel Emperor Norton I - Speaker of Council MrCynical, Totalfark Council PopeRodger, Totalfark Council Fluoroalien, TotalFark Council Fireguy15207, TotalFark Council Signed for FOK Uncle Harry, President Oinkoink12, Minister of Defense Tarenzi, Minister of Foreign Affairs DiviFilius, Minister of Internal Affairs Signed for MCXA Chancellors of MCXA Signed for NADC Da Supe, Secretary General Lord Damien, Foreign Affairs Minister Mikean, Internal Affairs Minister Michael Martin, Military Operations Commander Bosox Nation, Financial Minister legend, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Paulstartrek, Deputy Military Commander Haart, Deputy Finance Minister Signed for Echelon Directors - Neo Anglia, Solidus Prime Minister - Ruggerdawg
 13.
A certain percentage are deserters, some may people who didn't have or burned through their meager warchest or had IRL issues crop up that prevented them from defending their nation. Hard to hold bill lock or the inability to sign in for an extended period against somebody as a capital offense, letting their nation get razed without a fight isn't helping anybody. Deserters however there isn't much sympathy for.
Agreed. I always take the stance of giving people the right to give their side of the story and for judgement to be passed onto them that takes that into account.
