I was under the impression from when this has been raised previously that the low NS value attributed to Nuclear weapons is to ensure that there isn't a large jump up at the 5% mark as nations purchase them.
Think of it in terms of that the NS that nukes provide then has to be accounted for in other ways if nations outside the 5% are going to be able to break into it and purchase nukes themselves.

Assuming you'll join an alliance that will help you grow, you'll be better off in the long run restarting with better resources than having an extra 10 days or whatever to grow with lead and pigs.

I personally think that as a general rule, anyone being sentenced to perma-ZI is being done so in any form or incarnation that they may take in the game until such a time that they can strike a deal with whomever originally sentenced them as such.
As many have said, if someone wants to delete and remake a new nation, with a new ruler and never mention their original ZI they'll almost certainly never be found out. It's only the ones who think they've gotten away with it and so run their mouth that will get into trouble.

I remember, way back when on my first nation I tech raided. Back then, I only raided nations that were 16-18 days inactive and if the person I was raiding came back my alliance at the time required me to pay reparations to that nation.
I think in that situation, tech raiding is perfectly fine.
I don't like the recent trends of raiding people who are active, blackmailing and extortion and ZI'ing people for 'daring' to defend themselves.

It makes the game way more fun than to just sit around and buy infra/tech deals/wonders.
But once you max out your spys, you'll just once again buy infra/tech/wonders

OOC attacks are never acceptable for any situation or any person. But we already know GOONS POV on that.

this is good but i would put factories 2-6 on that list. sure they have the flash of a bank but they advance your nation so must faster

There are a lot of things a starting nation can do to get a leg up on the competition and I don't exactly think it's fair to denounce people who use the system better than others

As long as there are people in this game who do stupid things (Yes, I'm looking at you GPA) there will always be possible chance of conflict. Also considering there is always those alliances and unaligned nations that don't pay attention to these forums and have no clue about GGA, One Vision, The Continuum, or even NPO, that do stupid stuff that require action to be taken.
I don't think anyone is arguing that there won't ever be conflict again, I think the main argument stems from the types of wars and political climate that is likely to exist going forward. So what if GPA does something stupid and gets attacked? It'll be outnumbered 5 to 1 and get wiped out no question, which doesn't quite provide the high quality drama of giant conflicts of the past.

I feel that the problem with Valid is he doesn't understand that a person in his position needs to be both neutral in fact and neutral in appearance. Irregardless of whether or not he doesn't believe he has done anything wrong, the mere fact that there has been such a public outcry would imply that he has failed in his obligation to be neutral in appearance also.
Hopefully he can see the writing on the wall and step down before this goes much further.

The current drama is usually "OOC ATTACK!" or "YOU ARE NOT NEUTRAL!" "YOU ARE A COMMIE/NAZI/INSERT WORD HERE!"
Before it was like "NPO IS EVIL!" "LUE IS EVIL!"
It was a fun rivalry
I think the emergence of OOC drama has been the most disconcerting trend in recent times. While I'm sure we can all agree OOC attacks are nowhere near acceptable behavior, it's such a Gray area that I can't help but feel in the future certain things that would've slid past the wayside as part of the every day random chatter in various irc channels and forums planet bob wide, will instead be use to manipulate the political climate leading up to and during and future conflicts.
Then again, I'm always incredibly cynical of the agendas of anything anyone ever does here.

@ Saborn: yes thats the FFonly combo i mentioned earlier. It offers the most "income" after bills per day, sure. But try to buy infra with that. If you want to grow your nation, the 3BG clearly outranks what you have now. FFonly is useful for bankers who have decided to stop infrapurchasing for a while or if you want to save up really high amounts of cash (warchest, wonder purchase), but even then i would not change the combo if i would not aim for at least 30days pure cash savings.
Thats the exact situation I am in now, since I'm basically going to be at 4999.99 for most likely months if not indefinitely. I just thought I'd throw it out there as an alternative resource set up to some of the more traditional ones people mention in threads like this.
