  1. Dear Alliances of the Karma bloc,

I have received your surrender terms in good order. I thank you for your concern that I may not have received them properly, but I wish to let you know I have received all six of them in good order. My refusal to accept the terms and my steadfast resolution to return them to sender in no way mean to imply that I have received them in bad order.

At this point in time I would like to cancel my subscription with you, and would like to no longer receive your individual surrender options.

    Kind regards, Mithgard.

  2. Well, I suppose this, at the very least, unites the entiriety of our world in doing the same thing.

GDI, I would recommend having your pacifist nations immediately adopt a pacifist stance. The way it works is that when an Alliance declares war, the world holds the entiriety of that Alliance responsible.

After all, an Alliance isn't about individual nations but about the entire group.

  3. I'm kind of confused, guys. Someone want to update me?

NPO declares war on some Alliance.

    Things go downhill from there.

Now it looks like there's going to be some brawl between the NPO and her allies (those that remain, some stuff about treaties being cancelled et all) and some group that call themselves "Karma".

  4. Ignoring the storm of messages before mine that no doubt contain conversation that the Queen of England would be proud of, I will answer to the OP regarding his first post.

You could also start your own alliance. Try to get a protectorate that's Neutral in global politics, take some time to decide where you stand and then proceed with policies catered to those ideals. There will always be others who share the same ideals or want to lend support to your cause.

If all else fails usurp your current Alliance, join an already-existing Neutral one or go into Peace mode and ignore these forums altogether─the last one is a drag though so I advise against it.

  5. I'd make a corny joke here, but I'm not sure whether I want to.

I like the charter. The quotes don't really seem to fit the content, but it's nice regardless. Sake of diversity, I suppose?

Oh, congratulations on forming an Alliance as well. Be sure to watch your back, it'd be a shame if you'd be pushed down into the sand. (durr hurr corny joke)

  6. Don't give out joining aid unless you enjoy having about ten people on your AA for every one that regularly visits your forums.

This. Joining Aid made me feel as if they only cared for my Nation itself, rather than the ruler. Don't concentrate on numbers too hard - Go for quality as well. If your alliance grows very large, don't shirk dividing them into divisions and setting up division heads. Even if you, as leader, cannot have close ties with every individual member, you can at least delegate that to other members so everyone has good ties with leadership.

    Also, lolcats. They help.

  7. Have to agree with the OP. Even if it's just a game, denying people enjoyment in this game beyond what is reasonable (perma-ZI) is ugh. Sometimes you have to sacrifice someone else's fun for your own (war), but be reasonable about it.

  8. Probably because this is supposed to be an rpg of actual national politics and that is the type of behaviour we would want from other nations.

I see your point; and raise you a question. "Is it required for others to act in a sportsman way when going about war?"

We have to accept that, despite our good natured will and what have you, others will simply see things differently. This does not necessarily make them wrong; we all have opinions and we all have the right to act according to our opinions, within the rules of the game. What you see as a way of obtaining your diplomatic right may be seen by others as a tool to pound opposition and prevent them from being an active force in the CyberNations.

I don't disagree with the OP, but I'm not expecting people in this game to consider how you may feel after everything you've worked for has been reduced to a smoldering pile of rubble.

    "It's just pixels!"

No, it's the result of time and effort (well, sort of effort...) that each player has put into their individual Nations.

Playing by conventional rules, standards and "honor" is fine and all, just don't look too surprised when others decide to just go "durrr" on all that.

  9. The problem with keeping your identity hidden is that you cannot reap any benefits from this.

It's an interesting read, and certainly one way to go about spying. But you can get no benefit from this other than, perhaps, orchestrating a war by giving (mis)leading information. To exact revenge on someone, or whatever? I have no idea. But yeah, the merits as opposed to the risks don't seem to balance out much, unless the excitement of being a two-faced person is appealing enough!
