It doesn't change the fact that the treaty was canceled. Beyond that...let's assume that Jack doesn't have an official position. If I'm ADI, Athens didn't just cancel the treaty, they spit in my face. Was that really necessary? No. Others are now judging Athens for the way they handled this and aren't sharing in the joke. If Jack actually has some official government position, and that is very much a logical conclusion given that he's making an official government announcement, then I'm curious how Athens goes about picking government officials. Ability to make balloon animals and knowledge of how to properly apply clown makeup strongly desired but not required?
Hal, where have you been the last few weeks? Athens has become quite accomplished amd well-versed in spitting in other alliance's faces. First TPF (which was nothing really more than a glorified alliance-wide tech raid), M*A*S*H and now ADI. Seriously if Athens has any allies left other than C & G by the end of March, I will be shocked.

Really? have you been away for the last week or so? I think Athen's tantrum about how we talked to our other treaty partners outted us already. This was a forgone conclusion.

This is where, I guess, I have a major disconnect with the rest of PB as a whole. In this day and age of DNA evidence, we find every day, that someone has been wrongfully convicted of crimes based solely on circumstantial evidence. In the world of politics, we have no equal to DNA evidence, that would cover every possible avenue of an OPSEC leak. In times of war, decisions need to be made quickly, and need to be made with the information at hand. We made our decision. Might we be wrong? Of course we might. Might we be right? Of course we might. We do not to prove anything to anyone. We pieced a series of events together, and made a choice. If we made the wrong choice, so be it. The fact is, nobody can ever TRULY know if we made a right choice or a wrong choice. I do however, venture to guess that 95% of alliances in CN, M*A*S*H included, given the same circumstances, would arrive at the same conclusion.I know that denials of this will come, and to let everyone who denies this know now, I am calling you all liars.
Say what you want to about M*A*S*H but Im going to give you a little history lesson. I have been with M*A*S*H since March of 2008. We have faught in 2 wars..... no of which we have been the aggressors. We have faught Universalis and HPS in the NoCB war and GGA in the KArma war. Neither of which we were the aggressors. We came in in defense in Legion as they were nuked by Universalis and they lacked some of the upperend nations to be freed up to fight Universalis. We also faught HPs at the time on behalf of Legion because they were overextended
In the Karma war, we faught on the side of Athens by engaging an enemy that attacked them even though we only held at the time a ODP . We thought it was right because alot of M*A*S*H believed in the Karmic ideal at the time and that a good chunk of our body were ONOS expatriots including most of upper end government. During this time, we sat down and had communication with Athens and decided to upgrade our treaty to a MDoAP agreement. Athens treated us like the best of friends while were in Karma and we thought we would be gaining a powerful ally.
When the war ended, at the suggestion of Londo and Athens, M*A*S*H signed a ODP with GGA as well as a protectorate while they rebuilt. This was Athens idea and they wanted every part of it while still in discussion stages. When it came time to sign the treaty, Athens disappeared and never gave M*A*S*H a valid reason why they were not signing the treaty that they had worked so hard for us to make. They still haven't given us a response back.
After the 'Catch Your Breath Accords' were signed and up to including the TPF DoW, Athens has been mostly silent about any communications with us. This is almost 5 months. The only member of Athens that has been in consistant contact with M*A*S*H was Jgoods. In fact, I have it on good understanding that Athens has voted to keep our treaty at least once since then but also worded 'need better communication' as well as our Ambassador posting Multiple threads (20ish?) with only one reply and only 20 views IN OUR ENTIRE EMBASSY. They didnt take the time to know us and are surprised when we decide not to pick up an aggression clause in our treaty. If they had taken the time to know us, maybe then they would have understand better. The reason we were talking to Purple was becuase they had taken the time to know us and are quite fond of us
As for the Athens treaty, it's no real loss when we didnt really know each other. Thank you for not psuedo-wasting our time anymore.

Tension runs high right now, and EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, is leading with emotion instead of sensibility. This issue is now moot, and is best put to rest, we have gone different directions.
Just remember one thing from here on out Athens: its just pixels

M*A*S*H may well be completely innocent of leaking the info that tipped off TPF. But a couple of things need to be gotten straight here, #1 is that they would not have to leak the info directly to TPF to be the source of the leak. #2 a presence in the enemy coalition channel, following the presence in our milcom channel, at the very least, is a poor display of judgment that allows a reasonable circumstantial case to be made. When it comes to the cancellation of the treaty, circumstance is more than enough to dictate the action. Capital Crimes...murder, treason, etc, have all been prosecuted and convicted on circumstantial evidence at various times. M*A*S*H maintain their innocence, so be it. Some will believe, some will not. We cannot say for sure that they did, or that they didnt. They, also, cannot say FOR SURE, that they didnt. Because, and I know this may come as a shock to many of you, but sometimes, people lie...and sometimes, people make honest mistakes, either scenario could lead to the leaking of that information. However, in war time, you surround yourself with those you know to trust. Seeing an MDP partner in an enemy coalition planning channel, drives a dagger into that trust.
Look... you invited Iburn in there with the full understanding that you did not have our unilateral support on this venture. We discussed this issue in private and NEVER released those logs of said milcomm channel with the exception of in this thread the small snip of Iburns consent that we would discuss it. We wished to remain neutral and see what our other allies were up to before we committed any act of 'betrayal'. Even when Iburn had entered #grudge, we still hadnt made our decision on where we are going. Dont hate on us for wanting to sort things out that were thrown onto our lap at last minute notice.

Yeah but to be invited to #grudge you must've been talking to someone beforehand. It's not like you knew where they would be sitting and magically joined. My guess is if you didn't leak in #grudge you did it in query. Either way all evidence points to you.
yes you win magicninja! it had to be him or any of the other of alliances that were involved. You know it was nearly TWENTY-FOUR hours that iburn entered that #grudge and by that point Athens was already at war. Nice try.... do better next time!

As long you give us any incite about your military planning before you rush into a war without alerting a MDoAP partner and not trying any diplomatic resolution, I have no problem with this.

And Athens? Just a thought, my gut says you got a leak.This is probably more like it. In your eyes your new friends at ZH were on and off with TPF whos to say they didnt leak to TPF? They have lied to you before.... why not again? and while we are at it who is to say they arent still in VieTPF mode and spinning this whole thing to discredit you by launching this and making TPF a martyr?
Any one of your allies could have jumped the gun and leaked this to TPF. We have been in a very infrequent contact with you so how would we have known about this plot because we havent talked to TPF EVER! Your friends in ZH sure seem to know TPF ask them if you question it. Also any one of your allies might have leaked this to get you away from us and draw you away from an outside chaining web.

Regarding the '2 hours' whining. You were notified at the same time as all the rest of Athens' allies. It was 24 hours notice (about 48 hours notice after Athens found out, and 24hrs or so after they decided to go to war.). Then, due to TPF finding out (as has been alleged came from YOU because YOU didn't want a part in it), TPF started jumping to peace mode, so Athens decided to move up the timetable by 24 hours. That was not to spite you in any way, so seriously, quit the griping on that particular point.
As for a one way street? No, communication is two ways, sorry.
come from us? try not! those logs of the #grudge came from last night which was 48 hours after this conflict began sorry but do try again before blaming us. At the time we were informed we had one officer on IRC and that was our Econ officer and none of our generals were online until the following day (1 worked, 2 are on vacation) so how could we have leaked squat? And even if by some chance we did, where is your proof?
I repeat and ill make sure i get this point across, M*A*S*H has at no contact in the last 6 months with TPF in fact they do not even have an embassy in our Foreign Affairs hall so yes it was definately us that told them.

You ignore us for months
This is the important part. Lets be honest here Athens you have ignored us on the level of anything that you have planned for the last 4-5 months since the Karma war ended, dropped a protection plot that you suggested that we take part in (as well you you) with gga only to drop at the last minute without giving an excuse then ask us to jump an alliance that you hold a 6 to 1 advantage of with 3 other alliances going in, not to mention giving us 2 hours notice about this?
Lets be honest here Athens hasnt been a true partner to MASH ever and it was a one sided street from the get go. They have done nothing to aid mash in any attempt or hold up their end of an exclusive treaty that we signed with them. We have been an afterthought to them in all diplomatic sense, which is not what we signed up for. Whether the CB was justified or not, how do you justify attacking us in front of Bob when we are talking with our allies who HAVE been there for us and discussing staying neutral unless they are brought into this fight? We have no tues to TPF and have had no conversations with them in the last 6 months.

I was in MASH. I was the Senior Drill Instructor (MoD) and had just been promoted. I had worked with one of the ex generals in the WOTC. I do remember from the uproar inside the alliance due to a lot of ONOS ex patriots in the alliance and them wanting to take down the NPO hardcore for the distruction of that alliance as well as others. We went in against GGA through an ODP with Athens and purple wasnt really happy about that with the exception of Legion. I like alot of purple alliances but they never realized how much we hated the NPO for what they had done.
