This is not an announcement of a new policy, government change or war. This is you trying to get attention, and trying to get your members to recruit to hopefully save your failing alliances. This isn't new or unique and we don't care that you're having a recruiting contest. I don't care about USN and I don't care how many members you've recruited. Go away.

Thank you for clarifying your position. It is extremely kind of you to give everyone involved the attention they are trying so hard to get. You may have noticed, though, that this thread isn't solely about USN. We know you hate us, but the other four alliances along with their and our allies seem to be enjoying it B-)

I personally don't care that much about the contest, and considering how long we've been around I don't see how our alliance is failing...
Although I do remember the days when our alliances were close, and we came to your aid :D

also CBray seems to have summed up things rather nicely

Frankly, when Ezequiel and liltrekkie walked out of negotiations twice, denying us any apology, public or private, this was an alternative measure.

It could have been handled nice and easily without expanding it into a further issue.
I think the primary issue is that there shouldn't have been any need for an apology from them. From the log shown, you were joking around (unless you actually are/were putting him on a ZI list before he 'laughed') with him for a while. To suddenly take things seriously, is way beyond strange. The better way to handle it would have been to ask for an apology, and just leave if you didn't get one right away, especially since you were in his channel.

Sure, but your original argument was that we are restricting who posts on the OWF. (Also I don't think you're going to convince me that "being raided by GOONS" is an issue that I should be concerned about.)

Again, see my point above. You're not proving your point - you're just turning this into a very vanilla argument against tech raiding. (Also, see my sig ;))

The only thing we could even remotely be accused of discouraging is nations posting things that obviously mark them as being in a small unprotected alliance. But by that very same line of thought I can also argue that GOONS encourages small alliances to seek out protectorates, thus promoting friendship and enriching the politics of Bob.

I'm starting to like certain GOONS ;)

You realize that this announcement, hasn't been touched in over a month until today? So your comments are even less intelligent than they normally would be.

Oh so it was stuff that was said in your government channel by you and your government, but you didn't mean any of it.

    Occam likes you again :P

You're still mis-interpreting what he said. They said things in anger, in a *private* area, that are no longer true at all due to the passage of time.

We were given the word of God. The word of God is a tool and a guide for us. How we use a tool is like any other tool. You can use it for good or evil. Just like the detractors were using it to misguide people. It is not the fault of God that man takes words out of context and spins them in order to enslave their peer. That is purely a human tradition. You can't blame God for our imperfections. People who read for understanding know what the words mean. People who do not and exploit them for their own personal agenda do so at their own peril.

The Bible has at points been one of the most dangerous weapons on the planet. Notably, 900 AD-1600 AD.
I agree with you, but the most you can really say of the bible is that it was inspired by God. There are parts that it wouldn't make sense to claim were God's will. Church officials in particular will tell you that it is only to be considered a spiritual guide.

Unfortunately for me, I am currently unable to read every part of it in its original language (being written in several dead languages) so the word of God given in it has been distorted not only by the writer, but also by the translator :(

  8. To be honest those views about women are part of the reason that it took them so long to gain equal rights. Those same views that the woman was spoken for by a man allowed a virtual slavery of them, because not all men continued to treat them as they should.

As far as slavery, as I recall it was allowed in the bible for the Hebrews, but a fellow Hebrew could only be in servitude for a maximum of 7 years before he was set free. They allowed slaves of conquered foes similar to many cultures. I don't think it became a real problem until Europeans started to grab African people for mass slavery.

Considering that both of those views evolved into a loss of rights, I'd say they can be judged without explicitly looking at their original context.
