  1. I don't think you comprehend the meaning of the "Voice of the People" slogan. It doesn't refer necessarily to popular opinion, but rather, the concept of self determination. Vox Populi fights for the Self Determination of all nations, and in this way is the voice of the people.

Most nations publicly affiliated with Vox populi do not wish to hide out, but rather, wish to be vocal and visible. Using the AA is itself a statement.

I foresee the total NS of the Vox Populi AA to steadily fall at a slow rate and petering out.

Not exactly the best answer I was looking for, and I must also say a lot of the answers I got weren't what I was looking for. But that maybe on my part, or on the answerer's part.

Either way, as promised, I will flee this scene.

Also, don't hurt yourselves now. :awesome:

  2. I've never understood what the fascination with mercenaries is. Particularly in a nation simulation game. There are no "mercenary nations" because wars are inherently expensive, and the only traditional arrangements for hiring mercenaries (who earn a salary higher than soldiers actually in your military) is to offset either a lack of skill or a lack of manpower.

This isn't practical in Cybernations because if you have one, you really don't need the other. Skill is only useful in war for profit (tech raiding) because that's really the only situation where you can expect to have two nations battling it out (albeit with a significant strength difference). The way alliance wars have been fought for at least a year is through the assurance that the side declaring has an overwhelming superiority of numbers that could only be defeated if they tried to lose. Considering this strategy has worked without mercenaries in the past, it seems to render them irrelevant. It's a weird sort of reverse of the saying, "Anything worth doing is worth getting paid for." Around here it seems to be, "Anything worth getting paid for is worth doing for a friend."

When your nation reaches the size where it would be particularly useful in an alliance-scale war, it costs far too much money to replace the damage you will take (no matter how skilled you are) to make any sort of profit in any sensible amount of time. You would need to be paid in advance to ensure your effective fighting capability (having a warchest) and you would need to be paid after to ensure you could repair your nation. Both of which would take a considerable amount of time to even reach the sums required. This also means that even if you could find profitable mercenary work as a low-NS nation, the entire idea is to fund your growth through war, which means you'll eventually reach this plateau.

The closest things we have to mercenary groups in CN are Blackwater (as a military group sponsored by The Order of the Black Rose) and the Citadel Trading Company (as a group of nations technically outside of the alliances but paid and protected by The Citadel Bloc for services rendered). You would need to combine these two ideas to get anything close to a functioning mercenary group- in which the nations would basically be paid indefinitely for their willingness to defend the alliance that's paying them; a sort of military retainer, if I'm using that term correctly. Which loops us around to the point that no alliance is going to funnel aid to a group of nations who are, by definition, not part of their alliance in order to ensure their defense. They'd much rather funnel that aid to nations in their alliance who have some sort of investment in the alliance that they would fight to protect.

You know what I also find funny?

    1 person(You) leads a Democratic nation.

    Believe it.

  3. I always do, and you basically repeated yourself. Allow me the liberty of condensing your argument to show just how big a mess it is:

    1) Vox Populi members care for their nations, even though one guy said they don't

    2) To be the voice of the people, Vox cannot be in peace mode

    3) Vox Populi actually doesn't care for their nations! :awesome:

    4) Vox members should hide in other AAs.

    *Sigh*

    1) Okay...

    2) Sure...

    3) This contradicts #1

    4) Vox members hide in real alliances, son.

1-3 leads to the point of Vox Populi not being the voice of the people good sir <_<

    4. Heh. Yeah, brilliant political move. Get yourselves in a war while you can just hide in a small member alliance and not be caught in LOLitics.

Also, care to answer the last question I posted there?

I swear, that was my last :awesome:

  4. i wasn't planning on starting one just getting the public opinoin on the matter, but it seems as though you have put some thought into that and i will note that in the notebook. Thanks again.

    It's real simple actually.

Just follow these rules in case you can't on my above post :D:

    • Conceal Identity
    • Conceal Plans
    • Be reasonable

    That's bout it really.

  5. I forgot where I heard this from, but it was from a active member of the AA Vox Populi.

"We do not care for our nations".

If Vox Populi does not care for their nations, then why not everyone get out of peace mode?

Or, as one of you guys said, some Vox Populians do care for their nations.

Then unless Vox Populi is under a leadership, which they aren't, you guys can't say that "we don't care for our nations" because if you were the voice of the people, then the people would all be out of peace mode, collecting every 19 days, and blabbing on whatever they wish here.

Also, even saying that some Vox Populians care for their nations is wrong.

If they cared for their nations, why would they have even considered entering the Vox Populian AA in the first place? Why not rest easy from the protection of the AA of a small alliance?

Also, one final question, my computer has been restarting like crazy.

-What now? Vox Populi experienced one of the biggest Alliance Affiliation growth in history of CN.

Reached 1.5 Mil NS, maybe 2 Mil, forgot, and oh so many members. Now, they're at 400,000 NS, and 70 Members. What now? What might happen regarding Vox in the later weeks?

  6. Oh and, in case you are planning on starting a Merc. group, here's how i would do it.

    1. Spread membership throughout small alliances so a watch dog group can't see if you guys are getting paid to do a hit and won't anticipate it.
    2. Don't reveal all members, best do do hits 1 by 1.
    3. Fair price system. For example, every 500 NS you take out, you get $3,000,000 or something like that.

  7. 1. Seeing as how we are facing a massive amount of nation strength, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Vox member who genuinely cares about their nation.

    2. Fear is for the weak.

    3. Many of us already do that.

    Really now?

I actually see that some Vox Populians that do care for their nations.

For example, King Zog of Ottawa empire cares enough for his nation not to exit peace mode, so he can not be destroyed, leave the Top 100 Red Nations, and keep his Senate Position.

This draws me to my next question.

If Vox Populi is really fighting for reform and change in Global LOLitics, and they're not gonna be fighting for it with conventional means(I.E. Battle in Cyber Nations), which means they're only fighting with words(I.E. Propaganda or whatever any alliance wants to call it), then why would King Zog of Ottawa empire, fight in the terms of Sanctions?

This also brings me to a less important question.

What is Vox Populi's position on Admin's change in team Senators, where only Team Senators in war mode may place Sanctions?

The obvious Vox Populian answer would be, a "whine" of , "oh it's Admin's bias against us" or something similar.

But if Vox Populians "whine" against only Senators in war mode may lay sanctions, then wouldn't that be contradicting yourselves? Really, the only reason you guys are against that in my opinion is to keep King Zog in the Senate without letting his nation get destroyed, and if Vox Populi generally doesn't care for their nations, why would King Zog care for his?

    Also, a quick note.

A cluster of Vox Populains in peace mode are those from 7.7k NS and up all the way to Ottawa empire.

Everyone else that's in War mode are generally weak nations, that seemingly do not care for their nations.

Which means, that everybody that seemingly DO care for their nations, are in peace mode, and those that seemingly do not, are in war mode.

  8. Well.

    Here's my thoughts.

    1. Please work on your spelling/grammar.
    2. I think they should be here because:
      • Nothing like a drama caravan from a guy paying a mercanary group to hit on a big alliance.
      • Settling something personal that your alliance can't,
      • Helping to ZI targets.

Really, there are a number of reasons why Mercs. are good.

But a more NS diverse Merc. group would be nice because it's really hard to find small, active nations, to destroy small active nations.

  9. Just wondering.

    1. Do you guys care for your nations?
    2. If so, why do battle with those that outnumber, outgun you?
    3. If not, why not just exit peace mode, collect every 19 days, and talk about whatever subject you want here?

Just wanted to know the answers straight forward and not from reading wall of texts.

  10. The last update, they were added because they were above the drop line, but never passed the add line. I just removed them since their addition wasn't "official."

    What?

Legion always was passed the add line, when we dropped below it, rules say we're supposed to be still in the race, until we drop pass the drop line, that's when we're officially out.
