Interesting, to say the least. :P

  2. Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia

Far in the sky the Cochin airliner glided across the sky. Down below, Amazonian guerrilla squad "73rd Harvesters" were watching and waiting to see its intent. Although the occasional airliner flew overhead, Villavicencio's outpost commander Elegido felt uneasy. It had been months since an airliner last flew overhead, so why should there be one now? Was the war over or did the Empire's SAM turrets run out of ammunition? Perhaps both, thought the young man. Never the less, his men watched the aircraft from the base of a Villavicencio skyscraper. If it were to go down, then they would need to beat other scavengers from taking the scraps for themselves.

It was good timing for the aircraft. Diberians long learned that Colombian Diberia was a hazardous place to live, filled with individuals infected with BIV, and one should always be on the move. Many have either died or got infected staying in one place for even a few days. Dogs with BIV would come, followed by swarms of infected searching for their favorite food. After a week in Villavicencio, the 73rd decided to move on and get new intelligence on Bogota. Infected were moving in greater numbers north, the stench of rotting human flesh bringing them north. They prayed that the city still stood tall.

Then Elegido and his Harvesters heard the sound of more jet engines, to the north west. It was very faint, but still a cause for alarm. Elegido grabbed his rifle, leaning against the wall, and aimed it towards the noise. In his scope were several small men, flying on what appeared to be jetpacks. If it weren't for the noise, the young commander thought that that the Amazonians could use such machines themselves.

Whomever those men were, they looked like they would land near Bogota. If infected were still rampant in the area, then they would need help. But more importantly, they could bring more help. Elegido walked over to his command jeep and grabbed the loudspeaker inside. "New orders. We'll move north west and attempt to meet with the foreigners. They may be the only outside connection we have. We leave immediately." Men ran for their vehicles, ignoring what was left of their supplies. Everything important was packed away, and if all things went well, they would be back by the morrow.

    ----------

The jeeps rattled along what was once highway 40: five Tiuna's and three Pinzgauer trucks. Passing Caqueza, just south of where the jetpacks were last spotted, the 73rd Harvesters heard the sounds of sporadic gunfire northward. The men turned onto a dirt road and began moving north. The 73rd trained their guns on the mountain cliffs and deep valleys around them. The infected were out there, hiding somewhere. Like any other animal, they adapted and learned from past mistakes. Smaller hordes shied away from direct assaults, and some have even learned how to fire and load a gun.

  3. [s]Well then, that dashes everything I was talking with Shadow and Cochin with. Thanks Lynneth, I hope you enjoy that land and make many great and fun RP's there.[/s]

Over-reaction on my part sorry. Resolved through PM.

One of my landings is at Georgetown, Guyana from where a Marine Division and an Airborne Division is working its way along the coast of Venezuela and Colombia aiming to reach Bogota. I suppose we could RP my airborne forces meeting your guys at these three places, San Fernando first, Bogota second and Esmeralda third and realizing that there is a native government seeking to assert independence, I could withdraw.
Guyana was never a place I owned, and Baskan may set up shop over there. San Fernando and/or Cumaribo may be where we meet up, but I doubt you would want to travel to Esmeralda. The only way there is by plane, unless you have hovercraft and riverboats to get there.

I'll PM you more on the matter.

Please give me two weeks to RP pacification and liberation of Colombia and Venezuela before placing your claims on them. My troops are in that area right now doing scouting for relief measures but would be drawn south soon leaving you unhindered.
Aww, I wasn't aware things went that far yet. I assumed the HAE was still at war with itself and no-one had come in yet, thus I'd birth the country's foundations in the middle of the war. Well I'll adjust to that I guess.

    enjoy your eco terrorists.
Pray tell me, from where are these eco terrorists coming from? Have there been RP's in Columbia or Venezuela that I should know about before writing?

EDIT: Perhaps my own eco terrorists (I've always RP'd a group of them, at least when I had Diberia) can interact with your own.

EDIT2: How far are your soldiers, king of cochin? I may be able to salvage part of my RP. There are three cities in central Diberia that I RP'd when I last had Diberia, two of which are only towns of a few thousand IRL but had hundreds of thousands up to a million or two in them each when I left. San Fernando de Apure, Cumaribo, and La Esmeralda. And I don't think Shadow wiped them when he got Diberia.

OOC doesn't equal IC. Make the claims IC when they become available.
Oh you serious people. I'm just telling people ahead of time instead of popping out of nowhere and claiming the land. It isn't fun when two people make plans for the same land, don't tell anyone, then try and claim it at the same time.

EDIT: And that doesn't mean I disagree with you. I'll make the claims when I have the IC capacity to. I've been around for too long to not know that.

Are you sure that you didn't accidentally put your profile picture in for your avatar? I can't think of any mechanism that would result in one image being swapped for another other than a person accidentally doing it. You may have saved over your avatar with your profile picture.

Also, the limit on avatar size is 150x150 and 50 KB. If you try to upload something larger, it doesn't go through. You could have accidentally uploaded the profile picture for the avatar several weeks ago, tried to upload an avatar that was too large last week, and just realized everything before you posted in this thread.

And it does look like there is a known bug in how IPB handles uploaded avatars and user photos that can result in it taking up to 24 hours for new uploads to clear.
Actually, I found this issue a couple weeks before but didn't think about saying anything till now. I've uploaded a 150x147 avatar multiple times yet it still changes to a small 48x48 picture. I've just uploaded a completely different picture for my avatar and see if the issue still exists.

Though the real issue that I'm talking about is my profile photo. I have tried uploading appropriately sized pictures for my profile yet none of them go through, and I cannot even remove my current profile picture. This isn't an issue with my browser though; I'm now on a completely different computer, browser, and OS than my home one and still have the same issues. I'm testing it with a 126x126 29.3 KB PNG file.

EDIT: I know it shouldn't be, but I'm testing to see if the remove profile picture button is actually related. Attempted to remove my profile picture again, got the 48x48 avatar picture again several hours later. I'll changed my avatar to my other PNG file again and see if it magically changes; if the "Remove Profile Picture" button isn't related to my strange avatar-changing issue, then logically my avatar should change to a 48x48 version of my profile picture.

Also, when I go to change my avatar, it tells me that the file is the 126x126 file.

EDIT 2: It seems that my avatar has again turned into my profile picture.

  8. Something else: so my avatar suddenly switched to my small profile picture earlier today for some reason, so I re-uploaded my larger version of the picture. Then I decided to test something and attempting to delete my profile picture like the other day. Nothing happened to my avatar until a few hours later, which (as you can see) is now my small avatar picture again.

Very strange. I haven't been active until recently, so this bug could of happened a few weeks back and I never noticed.

That's a browser cache problem. I run into it most frequently on FireFox when I change mine. If the change goes through on the form and isn't rejected for being too big or being the wrong kind of image, it's most likely up. You may have to refresh your browser a couple times and or wait a couple minutes before it shows on your screen.
I'm on chrome myself. I thought it was this, and I have done many refreshes and forced cache resets.
Is your profile picture the same as your avatar? If so, it went through and it's probably just your cache.
Originally, yes. A few weeks ago I changed it to the same picture as my avatar. But now I'm trying to upload a completely different picture for my profile. I've tried "Remove My Photo" but it is not working, so its not an upload problem not showing up.

  10. What is really needed is some more interesting storylines. Proper implementation of three-step "action, reaction, result" storytelling would help a whole lot too. No, I don't (necessarily) mean to throw in things like massive weather formations or zombies or whatever happening, just... something more interesting than diplomatic envoys need to happen.

Stabilization in the West African Cluster
    Governments Emerge from Western Africa

Map of Currently Re-formed Nations in the West African Cluster

Decades have pasted since the African Cluster has seen lasting peace, and now it seems it will again. Over the last few weeks, tired of constant war and conflicts, people have organized national rallies in the region, hoping to stabilize the region. While unnoticed by the world, these peaceful common men have slowed local factions’ war machines to a halt. From this, the creation of five nations is currently under way. We’ll keep you updated as it happens.

The very first nation to rise up is the old Frons Kingdom, a country lead by King Lance Frons I. A group of guerrilla fighters plagued the country for the last few years, attempting to displace the Kingdom and bring democracy to the area. The group reduced the governments’ status to a sub-national level, thus making it necessary for the area to be declared a protectorate to prevent anarchy. However, despite this amazing feat, the group still didn’t have support from the people and recently surrendered to Frons forces. Since then, King Lance has been gathering support from the people and forces once part of the Frons Kingdom. His official declaration of the nationhood of the Frons Kingdom is expected to land at some point on the next few days.

The second nation to re-form is a coalition of political groups that call themselves “West Africa”. Similarly to the Frons Kingdom, the nation was once stable and peaceful until terrorist activities struck the region. But, unlike the Frons Kingdom, the government was ousted by a coup by the military for not adequately dealing with the terrorist threat. It is claimed that one politician carried a weapon and defended himself, which caused the resulting slaughter of many other politicians. A civil war broke out between the loyal citizens of the old regime and military forces.
This carried on for several years, with the death toll continuing to rise and no end in sight. Soon international forces came in and suppressed the conflict, though no government formed until the return of Sir Max Jawstone, who was the original architect of old West Africa before disappearing. He brought together the local factions into one functioning and governing body. It is currently unknown when he will make a formal declaration of nationhood.

This still leaves a large region of the West Africa cluster still labeled as protectorate land. However, there are signs that the rest of the region may stabilize, especially in the southern end of the cluster. A true civil war has been waged for decades, but both sides have confirmed that they want peace more than anything.

Once again, we’ll keep you updated as it happens.

Attack helicopters do not count against IG aircraft numbers. They are governed by common sense. Just RP a moderate amount and you would do good. If you abuse the numbers you would be asked to bring down the numbers.

For as long as I remember, whilst we've had GM's, this has been the case.

    Just my 2 cents :).

Honestly, is "not recognizing an RP" even allowed?
Firstly he's talking about his RP continuity; meaning that, in-character, of course his nation would go help with the situation. To do otherwise would go against his nation's philosophy; since it is too late to help (I'm assuming) then it would mean his nation wasn't acting in-character, thus making a black hole or something.

Regarding not recognizing an RP: unofficially I think its allowed, so long as you don't gain any national advantage from not recognizing it. For example: if you ignore a war against you, then your pretty much saying that your invulnerable to attack. Thus you are gaining a national advantage from not recognizing an RP, which isn't allowed.

  14.
It doesn't matter. The availabe land for new nations is going down REALLY fast, and it's stupid for one person to hog the majority of it. Not many people want to be part of a confederation.
I'm not asking anyone to, nor' do I want anyone to. Do you see me asking anyone to join me?

Now please I don't want to argue this further. I have the SoI for it, thus I am allowed to take it. Arguing further isn't going to change anything; I am not giving up any land.

EDIT: Ohai Lynneth. I'm certain there won't be any more of this. At least from me anyway.

  15.
How about we don't take every bit of white space remaining. That seems a little greedy.
You do know that a lot of that land is the Saharan desert right? Its mostly useless for a nation to be based in anyway, plus I'm going to RP an actual confederation (which needs more than one sub-nation to be a true confederation).
