  1. What any powerbloc needs to survive is the trust of it's members in the other members and succes. Most blocs have failed because they lacked succes, either they limited eachothers growth, or they got their asses kicked, but in the initiative, the trust dissappeared. Both the VE-war and the FAN-war were clear cases of both sides not trusting eachother anymore to value the advantages of being part of the most powerfull bloc on Bob over the limitations set by it. Both VE and FAN tried to serve themselves and to compete with other alliances rather than helping eachother out. While both cases might have been relatively small problems, the following lack of trust made expulsion at the very least inavoidable. But these wars have made everybody ask themselves who they'ld really trust to put their friendship over their own interest and their own sense of 'justice' when push comes to shove, and the answers weren't that satisfying.

  2. The fact that it is a geo-political nation simulator means nothing to how we should act. The fun of international politics is that there is nobody to tell anybody how to act, we resort to acting in our own best self-interest, which (since this is the internet, and a game at that) is fun. We can find this 'fun' in building up our nations, or in pounding someone elses into the ground. We can find fun in being in an alliance, creating ones own alliance, or looking at the suckers who got lured into alliance, while carefully staying independent. We can find fun in serious role-playing, in joking around, or just by 'winning' the game.

But in the end, you can't tell anybody else what is 'fun' and what isn't. And if somebody finds the fun waging stupid wars against anybody in his range, whether he has a big nation or a pile of rubble that can be considered the remains of a big nation, this game becomes, for him, a war game.
