1. All I can say is ... thanks? I didn't know a ton about you all until after the VE disbanded, except for Big_Z. He convinced me to give you guys a try, and I can't say I've ever regretted it. Heck the only thing I regret is the way I left. VE has been and will always be my home, but it's nice to know that there's a place out there with the light on if I ever need it.

Well one thing is for sure NPO now has a legit CB on all the allies who cancelled on them before Karma, as they cancelled knowing the war was coming and that NPO would lose. not sure if they are out of time now, is two years the cut off ?
Just wanted to say that anybody who knew NPO would lose in Karma before the war either had a crystal ball or is completely full of BS. Most of the alliances that dropped NPO did so knowing they were likely going to be rolled at some point for it.

  3. Maybe they're not declaring because that's exactly what you want them to do.

I doubt he is upset, I think he is trying to escalate this war even further to suit some other purpose.
This, basically. Ardus hasn't made much of a secret of wanting to roll SF for some time now.

    Both of you chill ffs.

At any rate, WC, what I think Hereno was trying to get at was that Legion wasn't the only (or probably not even the biggest) reason ya'll downgraded with us. While I think Hereno may have misinterpreted Cornball's post, it probably could have been a bit clearer, because it did kind of sound like you guys downgraded on us because Legion was going to attack. We all know this isn't the case and what I believe Cornelius meant was that the posting of screenshots was essentially the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm sorry if that's the impression I gave. I was just responding to what I considered a slight for VE's reasons for war in Karma, a subject that I am sensitive to as I was Lord of VE at the time. I did not mean to throw Tetris under the bus, I just tried to clarify the difference between the situations. And for what it's worth, we did not believe Legion was going to go to war, we had no reason to. This time they chose to act, if a bit belatedly. We do honestly hope that Tetris makes a recovery after this war, as it seemed you guys were turning over a new leaf just as it happened.

Eh, my whole view on VE is they threw Tetris under the bus for the same thing they raged against NPO for during Karma. Seems they knew Tetris weren't the ones spying to begin with. I'm sure they will throw semantics around to defend themselves but it all seems very hypocritical to me. Then again no one has really accused VE of being the most consistent alliance out there.
Excuse me? VE's stance in Karma was that OV had a screenshot waved in their face, and chose not to do anything about it, thus they did no wrong. Tetris in this case did the exact opposite, they took that screenshot (actually plural) and waved it in front of everybody's faces, including Legion. They brought this fight on themselves, which was the catalyst for the downgrade of our treaty (again, to optional, and since this incident brought about the downgrade in the first place we weren't about to defend them for it) before the outbreak of the war. Had the war occurred before the downgrade, we might be seeing a different situation entirely here, but that didn't happen.

TOP isn't one of 'the orders'. The term refers to NSO, NPO, and NpO.

e: at 80k NS, I assume you already know this. Carry on.
It's not so much the NS as it is the 5+ years being an active member of the political scene here. Still though, the only real link NSO has with the other two are the preponderance of common members and leaders. And the flag, but that goes back to the common leaders part.

You are just mad you have to sit on the sidelines watching. Plus, when we win this, we will be the first order to have won a war in years, how does that make you feel? :awesome:
Actually I thought that The Order of the Paradox won a war earlier this very year? ;)

For wars: yes. For anything else: nope.

So many alliances haven't updated thier treaty lists.

Cornelius: Full credit to you guys for getting it updated so quickly. Shame other alliances don't.

Thank Goldie, our resident wiki expert (and Duke, of course). The fact that he's very active helps too.

  9. With regards to the VE-Tetris downgrade, we were asked to keep it off the OWF. I don't know if anybody would have noticed if not for the war, but we did update the wiki as soon as we got the chance (and before the war broke out). If there's any question about our treaties, we try to update our wiki as much as possible. And in the event that it hasn't been done as of yet, we usually have at least one knowledgeable gov member that can be reached on IRC on most of the time.

You are both more proving my point than disproving it. Yes they would get decimated. The point is, they CARE that they would get decimated. Fear of your enemies is my point about the difference between them now and us (back then). We didnt fear our enemies. We didnt cleverly word treaties so that one of us could be the sacrificial lamb and protect everyone else until they could get a "better political position. We took every beating presented to us, we got better for them, and outplayed those who beat us all those years. Do you think you guys are capable of that? I dont. Hence the reason for all this clever wording.
Maybe, but remember that Legion has a decent chance of winning this war as it is (and a decent chance of losing it too, it is fairly even). But if they call in their allies, they're very likely to lose. The situation now is somewhat favorable, but more importantly it is extremely favorable compared to if they call in their allies. Not only for themselves, but also for their allies. Why would they turn a winnable war (where they take some damage and their allies take none) into a nearly certain loss (where they and all of their allies are destroyed)? They have no obligation to call in their allies for the entertainment of everyone else, so why should they?

Ironically enough when those screens were posted by Tetris that was the final straw that led to the downgrade. If only you had acted sooner, Legion!!

Or maybe they dragged their feet for a reason?
Pretty much this, all of it.

  12. Words can hardly convey what loss I feel today. Nueva Vida have been true allies for several years, and would be our oldest save the one remaining relationship from before our disbandment. I will never forget their comradeship, and only hope that we could say we have served them as well as they have served us. Through thick and thin, that tie kept on going when many would've snapped under the strain, but it was made of sterner stuff. I will strive to fulfill any favor that its former members may ask of me. Farewell Vidians, and Admin Speed.

  13.
Anyone that has been around long enough knows that VE would sign a treaty with /b/ if they thought it was the best way to save their own skin and/or give themselves a seat in the periphery of power. The Viridian Entente's words of honor and dignity have always been just that: Words. As Elysium used to say so often: Acta non verba. Anyone who wishes to know the true VE need only look at a timeline of Viridian actions, or a list of Viridian associates. It might be easy to poke fun at the VE-GOONS treaty, but I find a wry humor in Polaris' two biggest mistakes being aligned.

When do we celebrate the anniversary of VE being able to choose its own color sphere? What's the anniversary of True VE Day, the day an illiterate drunkard brute took charge and stopped pretending VE is anything except what it is? What is the anniversary date of the VE-NPO treaty?

I remember when the Viridian Entente empowered the madman Ephriam Grey to PZI people at will for fun.
I remember when the Viridian Entente supported the disbandment of most of the alliances of the League of Free Nations based on falsified logs and photoshopped screencaps.
I remember when the Viridian Entente heiled the New Pacific Order.
I remember when the Viridian Entente fought against Vox Populi in support of GGA.
I remember when the Viridian Entente assisted in the removal of Grämlins from Green.
I remember when the Viridian Entente imposed a puppet government on Ordo Verde at the end of a gun.
That comment about us allying /b/ is just hilarious. Nothing is impossible, but that is just about as improbable as you can get. We don't sign treaties simply out of political convenience, I can think of a couple that would help to improve our position right now that aren't even being considered. We have made mistakes, yes, and I should remind you that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. As for our former allies, well, our judgment clearly isn't perfect either, with GGA only being the first to slight us. Some of our leaders haven't been as idealistic as others, and that is shown in our various choices through the years, but we have been blessed with having more than one capable leader (and thus viewpoint) in our time.

With regards to your list, we've apologized several times for misplacing our trust in Ephie. His crimes weren't sanctioned by us alone, and he hoodwinked several of our friends (past and present) along with us. All I can say is that he played his role rather well until he slipped up, and we tried our best to make amends when we realized just how much he had pulled the wool over our eyes. Yes, we were once staunch allies of the NPO, but we grew apart. We reached a parting of the ways, as it were, as not every tie we have can be permanent. The various changing leadership on both sides was a key part of that. As for Vox, GGA were our allies at the time, and we acted as such. Treaties are not mere pieces of paper to us. We did not try to move Grämlins off Green, it just so happened that they and GGA could not co-exist on the sphere. I don't blame them for that, but at the time we were allied to GGA (and not to Grämlins) and only sought to maintain peace on Green. The OV thing I do regret, as they say the path to Hell is paved with good intentions. OV was clearly dying and it seemed a chance to help save it, yet it was in vain. I don't claim to be infallible, far from it, and there you have a clear mistake on my part.

And yet both you and VE sign a treaty with one of the alliances that were responsible for VE's original destruction?

    Hmmm.
From the VE's perspective, GOONS worked hard for months to overcome that stigma. They finally managed to convince us that, in fact, they were a different alliance than the one that had helped destroy us. Besides, GOONS died in the UJW, so it's not like we were out for their blood, we were just extremely skeptical.

  15. We all appreciate Egore founding the VE, but we all must remember he helped to reform it as well. ;) Happy 5th to all Viridians, and to all of you that will point out the 3 and a half months we were disbanded, just consider this announcement 3 and a half months early. :P
