  1. Do people think this is some kind of 'flaw' in the war system?

I don't think there's a problem with land loss, since people deliberately sell land as someone mentioned earlier, but I believe tech loss is disproportionate to infra loss in war. Tech itself is hard to get, if you compare it to a point of infra, but I just finished fighting Vladimir, and his 2500+ tech/WRC combo is a tough match for what 20-30k NS nations can muster. There's a couple of potential solutions to this problem I might suggest later.

  2. Not enough tech is being destroyed, there's all these people with 1k infra and 3k tech running around. )):

As I see it, aid slots after the war will be occupied by reconstruction aid and reps, and thus the tech market will grow more slowly or even shrink. Some buyers might stop buying because of the infra loss, but unless their tech drops to 0, I don't see them turning to tech-selling. The pressure applied to prices would be similar to a rise in sellers, though.

  3. In removing a community from this game, an alliance would be committing one of the worst crimes I can think of in CN. Of course, many of us are aware of this fact, and disbanding the NPO or CoC alliances is pretty much out of question. Tygaland, I believe, argued that "politically crippling" terms should be issued to NPO to prevent their return to power and a scenario similar to post-GW1. However, such terms are hard to come by, as forced treaties (or foreign policy dictated by another entity) haven't been very effective in the past - in this sense, the NPO might have damaged itself more than we could in the last few weeks (or months) as ties were severed or proven extremely weak - and enormous reps are strategically weak solutions against a determined enemy that will come back and bite you in the $@!, sooner or later. The current situation can be seen as the result of a steady change in this game's political scene, as the Cyberverse at large, or at least its more active components, is immunized against the Hegemony's !@#$%^&*. After two or three years of it, I hope people have grown weary of an alliance destroying communities, installing Viceroys and exacting several months of hard work in reparations.

Despite any argument, this war's surrender terms are a problem for Karma leadership, as many players who fight under their banner will probably not be satisfied by them, and the objectives they set off to accomplish at the start of the war may be in conflict with apparently 'sound' solutions. Nevertheless, this war will drag on for a couple of weeks at least, and I still have nukes in my stockpile.

  4. To my newest opponent Vladimir:

I shall enjoy sending wave after wave of my men to their deaths against you. In fact the first wave's screams are like music to my ears. I hope you enjoy the slaughter too my good man.

Here's to glowing green and bleeding red.

Amen to that. My aircraft are breaking the sound barrier on their way to the ground.

As I said earlier, my nukes had better get through. )):

  5. The only problem I see here is that, because of the 5/6 aid slot limit, 'cheap' tech is actually 'quick' tech (If all aid slots are used anyway). Therefore, efficiency and organization don't give a lot of market power to the seller compared to price, especially when several tech-buying alliances already provide the frame/matrix for dealing themselves.

It's nice to see a rise in the alliance-to-alliance tech market, but currently there isn't much pressure applied on the 3m/100t rate, unless a Sellers Union is created or something. :P

  6. I would hardly define 'controllable security' as a trait of a new power balance. However, I think the changes to the establishment that you discuss in this essay might contribute to create a (OOC) more enjoyable environment, as your last paragraph describes a successful alliance in a game that thrives around them.

Fun is a relatively simple concept. When I first joined CN, I pictured it as a very 'personalized' gaming experience, not so much because you can pick Voodoo as a national religion, but because the game had a 'sandbox' feel to it, with all the apparent freedom you have when you first open the forums, or join an alliance.

  7. Kamichi making LUE and NPO teams in Pro Evolution Soccer and then LUE losing in the simulation between the two was pretty funny. A lot of good times were had.

:o I remember watching this. Is there even a jump attribute in PES?

  8. The thing is Gork its my home. And its not for you to decide if what was posted there was worse. You dont get to see it and that is the part that you dont like.

Okay, it isn't. But, even disregarding the tone with which you edited the post, it's about time you made your comrades feel at home.

  9. [*]Do you think that I am right in foreseeing this scenario,

[*]do you think that something should be done to prevent it,

[*]and what do you think could be done (if anything) to avoid/contain it?

    *Yes

    *No way...

    *...but think of the children!
