Diberia General Factbook

Diberia. Small and Insignificant. A country on the northern edge of South America and composed of Venezuela and Colombia, Diberia has had a history of internal warfare and attacks from hordes of beings named (for the lack of a better name) Zombies. For over a decade this has endured, the final Diberians left fighting for their lives in an alliance of Diberians and outsiders called The Rebellion. They fight Zombies, a disease conveyed through the saliva of the infected and the wounds of the healthy. They fight Aperture, a sinister yet failing company bent on taking over Diberia, then use the vacant land for their own devious uses.

But, the Imperium calls. Soon the Imperium's forces shall arrive and they shall be saved; that is, if they are not mistake for Aperture Infantry forces in disguise.

Diberia's Army

The Diberian Army had very, very cheap weaponry, and as expected these weapons were not very good. But, they did

The first of which is the DFF-MK1. This tank had twin fixed barrels on either side of the $@pit, along with two very large wheels on its sides. The tank has a very tubular appearence (with the tube going from right to left), plus two more smaller wheels just behind it. The engine is located back here as well, thus allowing the tank to still travel over the same terrain as a regular tank. Although the barrels could only attack forward, they had a dual purpose as long-range support.

The second unique weapon is a dual-purpose rifle made at first for Diberia-style Guerrilla Warfare, but eventually used for all military forces of Diberia; its name is the Diberian Agrevator-05. This rifle could be used for one of two things at any time: either as a shotgun, or a rifle. The first rifles produced had two barrels, with the shotgun barrel below the rifle barrle. The second rifle, DA-11, still used two barrels, but required the user to remove the barrel and put in a different one (on the plus side, it was very easy to replace the barrel). The final version uses only one barrel, and takes either singular shotgun ammo, or rifle cartridge ammo. (OOC: I'd get the calibre, but this weapon is outdated and other, real-world weapons being used.)

Diberia's defenses did not lack uniqueness either. Rather than put major defencive positions immedietly at the border, they put these "Guerilla Fortifications" in the middle of the amazon (on hills where flooding could not reach them, of course), and from there the base is constructed. A very unique feature is the "Slanted Runway", where a airplane runeway is made at a slant which may require better skills, but hides the overall runway better into the ground. The rest of the facility is built around this airstrip, such as food, ammo, and supplies. After it is complete, trees and plants are grown (and transplanted) on top of two laters; one made of waterproof "hard-tarp", and the other a layer of dirt. The local forces in this expensive facility could survive many months, even years in their hidden base, providing air support for far away targets.

***Only four of these bases are still known to be intact, and all are in the possession of the Diberian Rebellion. Two of these bases are linked.***

Old Diberia - History

The Diberia of old was barly even known, perhaps due to its particulary boring history. Diberia was formed decades ago by overseas forces to help stabalize the region. Alleged ruler "King Vutomo" ruled the region for many years and managed to keep good relations with neighbouring countries, particulary the nation once known as "The Land of 1000 Swords" (and since has dissolved). Diberia had a passion for traditional duels with swords, and considered honor as the best value a person could have. One of the largest events in pre-invasion Diberia was the finding of a Hitler (and Himler) clone in a partially destroyed facility. The whereabouts of Clone Hitler is unknown at the moment, however the Himler clone was killed by a terrorist group. After that event, nothing of particular interest happened. That is, until the Invasion.

-----------------

The Invasion of Diberia

During just another day in Diberia, forces from a neighbouring country suddently invaded Diberia. Diberia's forces fought back in Guerilla Warfare, but to little effect. All seemed lost for Diberia for a short time as the invaders moved in for their primary reason of "grabbing some coastline", but then something truely wonderful happened for the diberians.

The world backed Diberia. What seemed to be every country in the world came down and struck the oppresors, even delpoying nuclear weapons against them. Once the invaders were delt with, they left and forgot Diberia once again. Many Diberians were angered, some because large swaths of rainforest were destroyed by allied armed forces while others because they recieved no help in rebuilding. Soon another war approached, but instead of from without the threat came from within.

-----------------

Diberian Civil War

Diberia's citizens were not happy with the recent war and how it was delt with, even to the point of making the military forces spit up. Eventually some small fighting broke out, helping Diberia turn into a land of warfare. Three major factions arose.

The Diberian Loyalists, a very nationalist movement that was in support of keeping Diberia the way it was originally. This group was headed by King Vutomo, the former ruler of Diberia, and primarially had control over north-northwest Diberia. The Loyalists were, at the begining of the Civil War, the strongest of all three factions and still had the majority of the citizen's votes.

the Amazonian Defenders, the smallest faction (and mainly in the most affected area of the previous war) but with the support of most of the elite and air forces; and the Gundrans, the largest faction and armed with the most number of troops.

Factions of Diberia

Not everyone is under one banner.

Diberia has been split into multiple factions for years. Ever since the Invasion there has been conflict within Diberia, from the Civil Wars to the Zombie Wars. There are even factions within factions, like the foreign forces within the Rebellion or the Aperture Infantry within Aperture Science. Usually these divisions are due to rivalry and hate against others, but some factions are made so the group of factions survives together longer.

This is, or at least will be, a complete list detailing every single faction within Diberia, including those of the past.

In order of appearence...

Old Diberia

VIP's: King Vutomo. Minister of Foreign Affairs Jerrey Rough. Gundran

Future Names: Diberian Loyalists (Civil War), Rebellion (Zombie Wars).

Amazonian Defenders

VIP's: N/A

Future Names: Rebellion (Zombie Wars), 'Anti-Camera', 'No More Rebels'

Smallest yet most extreme of the three factions were the Amazonian Defenders, a group that prided itself in Diberia's guerilla-style warfare but not its diplomatic choices. This group had major support from the special forces and air forces, and quickly took over vast swaths of the Rainforest. They intended to take control of Diberia then attack those whom destroyed parts of the Rainforest, even those that helped stop the invaders and the Imperium itself. These are the reasons why it is the smallest of all three sub-factions in Diberia, and why they have so few citizens supporting them.

The Amazonians lost with the Gundrans in the Civil War.

During the Zombie Wars they were the least affected, being based in the rainforest and away from Diberia's mostly coast-based cities; however, they still suffered heavy losses, alas less than the others.

In present day, the Amazonian Defenders have splintered off into a few subfactions, such as the 'Anti-Camera' and 'No More Rebels' movements, but mostly fall behind the banner of the Rebellion.

Subfaction: No More Rebels. No More Rebels, based in North-West Diberia, is a splinter faction of the Amazonian's and have devoted themselves to either eliminating the Rebellion or convincing them to surrender to Aperture and save their lives. They were mostly destroyed by the Imperium in their advance.
