Mergerberger II
By order of the Prime Minister, the Revolutionary Socialist Syndicate of the Netherlands has opened up its tech market selectively to prospective buyers of Dutch arms, in addition to expanding the Dutch military arsenal. Saviri has ordered a massive upgrading policy, which in some ways is a cultural independence policy, as the RSSN still uses old Triyunican military designs in its endeavors. The package, to make the vehicle in the infantry support role more suitable for urban warfare, involves the addition of slat/cage armour to the sides and rear, the installation of an extra pintle-mounted heavy machine gun, armoured gun shields for the turret machine guns, and changes to the ammunition and equipment loadout of the vehicle, some of which are already seen in the base IS variant. A-8/Logistics The A-8/L is an Armoured Logistics Vehicle, simply consisting of the original without its turret. The vehicle is used to keep pace with RMBT units so as to provide them with much-needed fuel, as well as ammunition, and also acts as an armored recovery vehicle. It may also be optimised with the Urban Warfare Suite to create a well-armoured resupply vehicle for infantry units, especially useful when surrounded by enemy forces and pinned down by heavy fire, allowing for resupply in areas too dangerous for light utility vehicles or helicopters. The A-8/L ALV is also fitted with a slightly different suspension system to the RMBT, to reflect its reduced weight and higher speed. It is far lighter, and carries a large amount of fuel, reaching speeds that are normally reached by far lighter tanks. RT-7 Anti-Aircraft Platform RT-7 AA is an antiaircraft vehicle built on the RMBT chassis. The RMBT C158 turret is replaced with the A144 antiaircraft turret, consisting of four 30mm autocannons and sixteen RR&Co. SA-19 medium-range surface-to-air missiles. The vehicle has of course been outfitted to reflect the different weapons systems, with ammunition compartments for rockets and autocannon shells; the cannons are reloaded automatically whilst the missiles must be manually reloaded through a roof hatch at the end of the vehicle, surrounded by a steel shield for protection. Its armoured chassis combined with four cannons makes it also suitable for infantry support and suppression of enemy infantry. The outer layer uses new electrically charged armour technology, which consists of two further layers of steel/depleted uranium alloy, the outer layer being grounded and the inner layer being insulated from the inner layer of armour and electrically charged. The ECA defeats rocket-propelled grenades and, more importantly, kinetic energy penetrators, by passing a great current through the incoming weapon once it penetrates and makes contact with both layers of armour, liquefying RPGs and removing much of the power of any incoming warhead. The inner layer of armour consists of Chobham titanium matrix and ceramic silicon carbide tile composite armour, as well as depleted uranium mesh. The mesh involves a wire cage fitted between the titanium layers. The armour scheme is comprehensive and fitted throughout the whole tank mostly evenly. Exceptions include up-armouring on the front of the tank, designed to give extra protection to engine components, and on the turret, to counter top-attack infantry and air-launched antitank guided missiles becoming the most popular method of destroying tanks today, although this increases the tank’s profile slightly. The rear of the vehicle was originally the least armoured section, due to the presence of the hatch there, which must be light and easy to open and close or its purpose is defeated. This weakness appeared in early combat trials of the RMBT, and whilst the (possibly) tongue-in-cheek reply of military commanders was to simply avoid ever retreating, steps were taken to rectify it, with the installation of a more powerful hydraulic system to move the hatch which subsequently allowed the addition of more armour. The rear is now well protected, but it should be noted that it remains a weak point relative to the rest of the vehicle. The hatch may be opened manually in the event of hydraulic failure. Explosive reactive armour is also fitted when intended to work independently of infantry. The Urban Warfare Suite package for the RMBT-IS role also provides slat armour on the sides and front of the vehicle to offer additional protection against early-model RPG rounds. The tank is also fully NBC-protected and climate-controlled, ammunition and fuel are stored in armoured and sealed compartments, and an automatic fire-suppression system is installed which will neutralise fires either inside or outside the vehicle (if an external fuel tank such as that on the T-80 is fitted, for example) Revolutionary Armor Communication & Missile System (RACMS) RACMS involves equipping the piece of armor with a laser, infra-red and radar guided warning systems, and a full ECM suite to counter electronically-guided missiles. It encompasses a hard-kill system called the SENTINEL. Similar to other hard-kill systems in use today, it tracks enemy missiles with a millimetric Doppler radar, then automatically will neutralize them by launching a canister, which then will explode, spraying steel pellets to detonate the missile before it hits the armor. The canister has a range of fifty meters, though when operating in concert with infantry it is reprogrammed to fire no more than 15 meters to lessen the danger zone around the vehicle. This is variable and may be reconfigured as it is seen fit. Three such launchers are mounted on the tank: two on the turret and one on the front. The SENTINEL systems are computerized and linked across the battlefield, allowing all tanks equipped with RACMS to operate together to engage incoming projectiles at the greatest distance and as efficiently and effectively as possible. There are also four launchers placed on either side of the turret, which fire anything from smoke grenades to chaff to flares to frags, as well as others. The RACMS also involves an advanced fire-control system, integrated with the ECM unit to gauge and track positions of hostile missile units. Sensors gather data from the laser-based rangefinder pod, crosswind, temperature of both ammunition and surroundings, thermal/daylight/night-vision gunsight, amongst others, and calculate the whereabouts and range to the missile-launcher, allowing for obstacles, and can be fired manually or automatically. The fire control system also is capable of tracking and locking onto other tanks, armor, infantry, etc. SF4-9034 - Helios Combat Gear Helmet The Helmet of the SF4-9034 Infantry Combat Gear, model 7832KD, was developed, as the rest of the suit was, by a co-partnership by Kingdom Arsenal and Standard Arsenal according to the exact specifications laid down by the Minister of Defence. It weighs a total of 2.5kg, and within are various systems designed to give the wearer an advantage over opposing forces, such as the Thermal Imaging Targeting System. This is designed for use during both warfare in which conditions are dark, or where there are a large number of places adequate for enemy forces to hide in, and the wearer cannot see them with his/her naked eye. Additional features are the Night vision option, and the auto-locator, which allows for the screen to locate enemy forces in areas where the wearer cannot see them. The goggles also protect the wearer from flash bang grenades and other bright lights. The 7832KD uses an advanced communication system in which the sound from the soldier's voice is captured by three different microphones, then scrambled into indiscernable code, and then transmitted to all other soldiers' helmets in the area in which the voice would have been heard. It also uses a system which completely blocks the user's voice from exiting the helmet, not giving away the soldier's position, and still allowing them to talk freely. The 7832KD utilizes a 360-degree monitoring system which constantly tracks for the location of bullets, tanks, and other things from behind and to the side of the wearer, places that they cannot see without turning. This allows for the user to know exactly where a sniper or a tank is shooting at them from while turned in the other direction. It will then immediately give the user a target on the user's screen, should they opt to turn around. This technology also allows soldiers to track the locations of other friendly soldiers on the battlefield, as well as isolate and amplify sounds heard around them. A computer embedded in the suit manages data transfer between soldiers. Armour Specifications The armour in the Helios Infantry Combat Gear, model 293HO, is based on the German Xenias Infantry Gear, and was sent through rigorous testing by the Ministry of Defence, so as to prove its usefulness to the soldier, as well as its ability to defend the soldier. It has proven that it is capable of giving a soldier much increased defence against bullets, grenades, and shrapnel that would otherwise cause harm to the soldier. The suit uses an SA-Liquify suit, which consists of liquid armour, giving the soldier increased protection in all places that it is. Armour in the suit is comprised of a composite alloy of titanium and other extremely tough, yet flexible, metals and substances. The metals are arranged in discs 2" in diameter, based on the German Xenias Infantry Gear. They also go up to 3" in diameter in their anti-material portions. The Armour's most advanced ballistic hard armour, ceramic composite flexible body armour, can defeat multiple hits of 7.62x51mm AP rounds, like the Winchester/Olin .308 SLAP (Saboted Light Armour-Penetrating) round, which utilizes a tungsten sabot bullet, 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm rounds at muzzle velocity. The Helios Armour's flexible ceramic hard armor will successfully take many more hits than conventional/standard NIJ Level IV SAPI plates, and provides coverage over a much greater surface area. The Armour's wearer can take multiple hits on the vest without ceasing fighting, as a result of all the armour and its technology therein. The wearer will need to be hit several times before feeling any effects of the bullets, or being annoyed by their presence physically. It is found that it is very effective in urban combat scenarios. Power Supply Powering the entire suit is a 2- to 20-watt microturbine generator fueled by a liquid hydrocarbon. A plug-in cartridge containing 10 ounces of fuel can power the soldier's uniform for up to six days. Battery patches embedded in the helmet provide three hours of back-up power. Cooling System The Helios Combat Gear uses a cooling system which is essential to the survival of the wearer. It is equipped with a moisture wicking base layer beneath pants and boots, keeping soldiers cool and dry in intense situations. It has also been remarked that it is remarkably useful in desert combat scenarios, or in very humid scenarios, where the user is sweating a significant amount. Battlefield Awareness System The Helios Combat Gear uses an SA-BAS3456 model battlefield awareness system. This system tracks the user's body temperature, skin temperature, body position (standing/sitting), and even the user's hydration levels.
