History of the Oirad Clan, The Battle of Ningxia

Day 1:

An Entry in the Chronicles of the Oirat Clan

Behold, I am Pran Nor, Chronicler f the Oirad Clan, here to bear witness to our glorious battle against the Usurper for the City of Yinchuan.  As we speak, twelve thousand rider stand poised, to infiltrate the usurpers lines.  The Generals from Nanjing say they have a new weapon, they call this cannon the Blitzer a 'rail gun' a cannon which they say will stop our enemies dead in their tracks and send them running!!!

BUT, they still need our clans to charge their lines and raid them.  They rely too much on their technology I think!!! HMMM?!  Today, the lands f Ningxia will run red, with the blood of the enemies of Clan Oirat!!!!!

==================================

The 11th Route Army was finally on the attack, regaining ground from the Li.  Under the leadership of the Imperial Knights and Rangers, uniting the clans of Inner Mongolia in uprising, combined with a frontal assault, the Li's forces had suffered major losses.  Being routed quickly, retreating back to their rear lines.

For once they seemed to have the Li forces flat footed, and the Imperial Knights were not about to let the opportunity go to waste.  In the West striking across the Gansu Border, the Imperial Rangers, the Emperor's Finest, and the Oirat Clan lead by Imperial Knights Yoshi Hamori and Nyugen Phen had launched a major raiding operation, given cover by the Imperial Air Force and eighteen new Blitzer batteries to punch through line units.  Once through breaking off into autonomous groups these units were conducting a massive rear area raiding campaign forcing the reserves to Ningixia's west away from the province.

At the same time the 3rd Cavalry Division and the 109th Armor Regiment advanced on the outskirts of the province to sweep around and cut it off while, the 8th Mechanized Infantry assaulted the center of the Ningxia frontline.  Special operators and close air support would create space for lightning thrusts by combined armor APC spearheads which made for enemy Headquarters units, as artillery and infantry units were used to hold the line.

The offensive had begun.....

=================================

The news of the Yuan Offensive soon would spread to the State of Qin.  Falling on the South Flank, the Qin was a vital route that could be used by either side.  The Li were in grave danger now, the rumor was much of their armies still bruised from the fight in Inner Mongolia were now in dire threat of being caught with their pants down, with only two divisions anywhere nearby in shape to fight.

Soon the Li threat would pass... yet, there were some who still saw the opportunity in the Li.

In the court of Qin Fuyi, Ambassador Sima Kan approached, walking slowly, kowtowing to the King.

"What brings the Li ambassador before me today?" the King of Qin's voice boomed.

"I come before you with a proposition your majesty...." the Li ambassador said.

Liu Che the chosen commander of the Beijing Commune's military power stood upon the forward walls of Beijing and gazed out upon the encamped forces of the Yuan Dynasty, his knuckles white from how tight he gripped the wall and anger blazing in his eyes. To be confined to this city by the Yuan forces was insulting, but after his predecessor had failed so utterly and lost the majority of his forces in battle Che had been given little choice but to accept the encirclement. The fact that his predecessor now decorated one of the roads through the city as a reward for his failure along with the many others who refused to abide to the Commune's demands gave him little comfort.

Turning away from the one sight he could not influence Che looked down upon a nearby square now being used as a marshaling and training area for his new troops. He snarled and cursed as he looked upon the recruits, this so called troops were little more than boys and old men they being the dregs that had not been drafted and lost earlier. Still there was little point in crying out against something he could not change and he quickly marched down to the square to watch the recruits in their training. Storming across the short open space he absently noted the few citizens quickly changing paths to avoid his attention.

Reaching the square Liu stood to one side his arms by his side, his stance rigid and at attention as he watched the recruits go through their rifle training in one area, maneuver training in another and close combat practice in the final section. What he saw filled him with little joy, the old men could barely hold their weapons straight or at all and the boys continued to fumble their weapons and clumsily swing or move their feet. When the shrill cry of another citizen being hurled from the walls to land in a shattered heap outside the old men cringed and the youngsters recoiled in fear and horror.

Roaring aloud Liu stepped forward and to the center, halting the training and getting the recruits training. Waving his arms in the direction of one of the city gates he gestured to the top of the wall as another enemy of the Commune was hurled to their death. "Listen here you filthy bunch of trash, you are the only thing that will grant our glorious Commune the victory it is entitled to. It will be your blood, sweat and tears that will grant us victory. If you truly wish to serve you will give and fight with everything you possess and any that do less will declared enemies of the Commune and we all know what happens to them don't we".

Liu, his message delivered, turned and stomped away a new cry from the walls helping to reinforce his point. The recruits dived back into their training some inspired by the General's words but most of them fearing for their lives and so redoubled their efforts. Walking away from the recruits Liu made his way through the city to a certain building at the heart of the city, walking past the guards on duty he passed numerous workers inside and entered a small non descriptive room to one side of the building. Inside was a lone table, chair and a bed roll and its single occupant, a young woman in her late teens who was currently reading from one of her books though she stopped and looked at General Che as he entered her room.

"How..." he began before she cut him off. "Soon General, the time will be soon" she mumbled before turning back to her book. The General grunted and shook his head in disbelief before leaving the woman to her reading and walking towards the war room. "Better be some miracle" he muttered under his breath as he walked.

Day 4 of the offensive.  The Yuan Dynasty had advanced its forces deep into the Li Armies.  The main front had pushed the Li to a line between Zhongwei and Xingrenbu.  With thirty thousand Li troops covering a retreating corridor for seventy thousand, with the threat, of a encirclement by the Yuan Armored Cav, and constant harassment by the Oirat Horde's irregulars lead by the Imperial Armies special operators.  The Imperial Knights had become a terror raiding camps by night, acting as ghosts on the Li line.  The Oirats seemed to vanish into the lands as the Li tried in vain to engage them.  To make matters worth, the main Li heavy armor division had been pinned into Tianshuibu, along the Qin border.  It was running low on fuel, and endanger of being completely captured.  Which would mean the Li would be unable to counter attack.

However, it was now in the State of Qin, that fate had placed the state of the war.  Ambassador Sima entered into the wide room, as the King of Qin looked as him, smoking the embers from a long slender pipe.  "You come here with a new offer?  A new dukedom perhaps?"

"My King I..." Sima said.

"It is only that the boy Emperor is even more infuriating that I do not strike you down!" Qin Fuyi bellowed from his perch.  "Count yourself fortunate!"  he said as he took another puff.  "Let us hear it.  What does your master bring me today, to save your beleaguered armies.  What warning of enemies unknown, or of lost boys restored?!"

Sima smiled, "My Lord, Emperor Li proposes a marriage between your daughter and his eldest son, so that your ancestors may indeed rule Tianxia.  And he proposes to invest in your families many of the realms recovered, name them Kings, like the Yuans did to their relatives by blood in Siam.  Under Li's leadership, the Stans, Australia, Japan, the Americas, all will return to Tianxia, and your heirs can be kings all."

Qin pondered for a moment before letting out a wry smile.

Several hours later, the sound of artillery echoed around the town of Tianshuibu.  Rockets and shells litered the outlying provinces where the Yuan 1st Infantry 2nd Regiment was pressing its attack, as Qin forces stormed across the border, hitting them with human wave attacks, while convoys rushed fuel to the Li Armor forces, and aircraft pounded the retreating forces.  The counter attack had begun!

Word had reached the Commune's leadership of the attacks by the Qin forces and further more there were rumors that the Qin and Li forces were working together now to defeat the Yuan. Though these rumors for now were unconfirmed the leadership continued to have them spread among the people to improve the morale in the Commune. In addition to this the military hoped that the turn of events would relieve the pressure on their positions by hoping that the forces currently blockading their positions would have to be withdrawn elsewhere to combat this new offensive.

To encourage this among the Yuan forces blockading the Commune's cities small teams of saboteurs would routinely be released during the night time periods with the sole intention of searching for and destroying enemy supplies such as food, ammunition and fuel. These saboteurs would only make an attempt to destroy the Yuan supplies if they could plant their explosives and escape back to the cities without being caught. Any sign or belief that they would be discovered would mean that the attempts would not be made that night and that they would try again another time.

While this would keep any levels of destruction among the Yuan supply caches to a relatively low level each cache that would be destroyed would begin to slowly add up. In the meantime the training and equipping of the Commune's military would continue while the last few citizens who still refused to follow the Commune's leadership would be rooted out and executed.

Public

"With the essential collapse of Tianxia into warring states, we see that we are no longer beholden to our Overlord of old. Once we were but a mewling nation, naïve in this world and needing a helpful arm. Would we have helped the Tianxian loyalists recuperate? Perhaps. But we are not prepared to simply wait for a call of assistance in the hope that it does one day come. We will not intervene on a mere whim, for we have not the right to butt into their affairs and there is no national threat to the safety of the common person. Thusly, I hereby renounce the Oath of Homage given by my father unto the Tianxian Emperor. From today, Meihua is a free state and will conduct her own affairs with the impunity to choose what is best for our own people!"
