    Its great to see the old Legionnaires come out around Bob, and its crazy I remember anyone (special thanks to those who kept there same avatars like the Corporal, and Simon and boo at voodoo for changing his old awesome one).

    I don't remember all of this stuff, but Swampy's WoTs are fondly remembered.

    Also I remember being in the New Dominion, but not knowing what it meant or who else was in it because I never played "station mates" and had gotten in purely by being Swampy's cousin. :)

    Okay so upon reading this thread I've thought two things.

    1st I had the urge to defend USA because it seems pretty like a over aggressive CB declaring on some new guys who've offered reps and happen to have a slightly undisciplined alliance with a rogue every now and then. It happens. Young alliances will make mistakes, and with a good diplomatic team they will go away as USA was hoping they would.

    Then upon reading BigKat's post I saw that he was wrong in his estimation, as thinking how you would treat a big alliance in order to deal with a smaller one is remaining constant, and I see Bama and delta pointed this out to him, and he proceeded to be overpowered and laughed at.

    And now I sit and think about the situation taking into account Big Bad's post where he said USA had some spying problems only days earlier.

    Clearly, USA allowed some people into their alliance that were not responsible and they were forced to be bothered with diplomatic problems early and often. There offers were reasonable, but not enough to please Ordo Verde which was clear in the logs, and they could have therefore expelled the member, if they wished to escape the conflict unscathed.

    Planet Bob is an imperialistic place where the strong will survive and the weak will die. A USA nation has declared war on OV and the response was unsatisfactory in the eyes of OV and therefore they have every right to declare war on USA. If, by refusing to expel the member, USA is standing by the principles by which they were founded, then I wish them the best, and hopefully they will prove me wrong, when I imply they are weak.

    The problem I see here lies with neither USA, nor, OV. The response by both GDA and VE while perfectly warranted and likely to happen in a war simulation game where those with power seek to flaunt it, is what is currently making this game fall a bit below its potential. GDA has signed on to be the protector of USA, therby implying they trust USA to be responsible folks and vow to help them in times of need. I cannot comment on whether or not any attempts by GDA were made to attempt diplomacy, but if the dropping of protection was done without doing so, then they have failed as a protector, and I hope this is not the case. Also VE is obligated to help OV in mutual defense if called upon, but my thinking is that VE wishes to engage in a little warring and now see an opportunity, there is nothing wrong with this besides the fact that there is no way an alliance of close to one million ns needs help with an alliance of close to 100k ns.

    I mean not to to question the integrity of GDA or VE as I respect them both, but am only questioning whether this conflict could have been simpler or avoided at all. Feel free to reply with any information I have overlooked.

    Old Guard has principles. We have also shown mercy. But they want their allies to give a complete timeline of the war, what the terms will be, etc.

    Sorry Ertyy, for bringing it back up, but for clarification purposes we do not demand our allies give us terms for the war, just a solid CB that is worthy of destroying an alliance's hard work that has taken years to complete.

    III. On Peace Terms

    Peace terms shall not be used to humilate the opponent or to cripple him economically beyond the need to remove the current and immediate threat to the alliance. No terms shall be offered which The Grämlins would not consider acceptable if the sides were switched. The terms shall reflect the opponents' behavior during battle.

    You can see that we create peace terms based on whether the opponent fought honorably, so clearly we wouldn't want an ally to have preconceived notion of what they should get after the war comes to a close.

    I'm very proud of this document, and hope many others follow suit, but I will be most proud each and every time one of these commandments is upheld, as it will show the world The Grämlins mean business.

    Not a happy day, but the government can safely say we were burned out. Just when you think you have gotten past the tough part of building a new alliance (the first month), things go wrong, a couple people leave and here we are. To our allies, I'm sorry we could not defend you as we would have eventually wished to.

    It's trademarked, don't even think about it :P
