  1. A newish player misinterprets the purpose of the OWF and most of us just mock him, how classy. Independent is indeed under TSK's protection, we recently made the agreement but hadn't wanted to announce until Independent had had some time to stabilise and grow.

Josh, Banned's advice was good: the OWF isn't really the place for asking advice, instead come talk to me or one of my government on IRC or by PM whenever you have issues or queries, we'll be happy to help.

Orys and Aegon met at a brothel

    ~Preamble~

The Order of the Paradox and The Seven Kingdoms (henceforth TOP and TSK) both have central themes: TOP identifies with a phenomenal game studio and TSK with the world of Game of Thrones. The compatibility of these themes is great - there is already a great Crusader Kings 2 GoT mod - and so the leadership from both alliances played games long into the night. Somewhere after the third coordinated ‘accidental death and subsequent coronation’, it became clear that our paths were destined to cross for more than a short time, and so a friendship was forged.

    ~Article 1~ Sovereignty

The Kingdom and The Order shall remain separate entities and shall respect each other’s rights to govern themselves independently of the outside pressures and influences of the world.

    ~Article 2~ Non Aggression

There shall be no murdering of successors to gain a Casus Belli on any desirable territory. There shall be no Red, Black, Green or White Weddings. There will no intra-familial loving of any sort, except amongst the Lannisters, or if your sister is a strong genius.

    ~Article 3~ Intelligence

The Seven Kingdoms and The Order of the Paradox are now in league with one another. There shall be no bankrolling of rebellions in each other’s lands, nor attempted coups/assassinations/other chicanery of each other’s governments. All intrigue, no matter how intriguing, is hereby set aside.

    ~Article 4~ Optional Defense

We each reserve the right assist the other in the event of an attack. Assistance may be military or financial in nature, or simply words of sympathy.

    ~Article 5~ Optional Aggression

If one party marches to war and the other finds the reasons acceptable (or the portion of glory agreeable), the other is welcome to join the march. Pillaging is encouraged, looting discouraged.

    ~Article 6~ Cancellation

Should we decide to part ways the standard 72 hour notice shall be given and respected.

  3. Congratulations on peace to my allies in MI6 and Umbrella. It was clearly a well fought war by all involved with top quality combatants on both sides.

I wonder whether it is a coincidence that MI6 peaced out a day after they (finally) overtook ODN on damage inflicted... :P

  4. Protectorate Agreement

    Article I: Preamble
In the spirit of good will, prosperity, and the pursuit of friendship, The Seven Kingdoms (henceforth referred to as TSK), and The Atlantic Sphere Initiative (henceforth referred to as ASI), do hereby recognize this protectorate agreement as official and agree to all terms and conditions therein. They recognize that ASI shall be deemed a protectorate of TSK until such a time that ASI can stand independently as a sovereign alliance.

    Article II: Protection
In a case where ASI finds itself in an unprovoked defensive war, TSK agrees to offer all necessary assistance to ensure ASI's protection and well being. Should ASI be the provoker in a conflict, TSK may offer its assistance at its discretion. In a case where TSK finds itself in a war, defensive or offensive, ASI is encouraged, although not required, to assist TSK.

    Article III: Communication
Both TSK and ASI agree that communication is key to any relationship. Both parties will keep each other up-to-date on all important information. Furthermore, TSK will send advisers to ASI to ensure ASI is operating well and to offer whatever assistance is needed. ASI also agrees to keep TSK informed about any foreign affairs decisions they may make, and gives TSK veto rights over treaties and other such agreements. TSK will be present as an adviser to ensure efficient development of internal programs and processes.

    Section IV: Economic integration
TSK will assist ASI in building a strong economy by any reasonable means. Both parties will grant each other preferred status in buying and selling technology, as well as finding and constructing trade circles.

    Section V: Cancellation
Either party may cancel this treaty with 48 hours notice to the other party. During these 48 hours, the treaty remains completely in effect.

    Signed for TSK,

Glad to have this all sorted. Congratulations to our friends in ASI for successfully recreating themselves; we're happy to help for as long as you need us.

  5.

It costs me $340k to maintain 25 nukes

You have lead presumably, and many people don't. It's true, though, that some things can make the cost of the policy less (or more, such as if you have nukes but don't have uranium... for some strange reason).

  6. Proposal: Equality for all. We shall immediately implement a system to redistribute wealth from the wealthiest nations to the poorest. +3 happiness, -$3.00 citizen income.

Yes votes from Max Power, KCahill and metalbot

Presumably it was not this proposal that FAN took issue with, due to the fact that it basically just adds 3 income to everyone on yellow.

    The issue was likely with:

Proposal: The Yellow team senate proposes severe penalties on nuclear weapons. +3 population happiness, +25% nuclear weapon purchase cost and upkeep cost.

Yes votes from Max Power, KCahill and King James II

FAN, I imagine, took that as being bad for nations with nuclear weapons, and good for those without. However I think they've done their maths wrong, as this second proposal is beneficial to nearly every nation on yellow (with a few exceptions): The cost of maintaining 25 nukes is a little over 400k, so let's call the 25% nuclear weapon upkeep cost a 100k cost. The benefit is 3 happiness, which translates to 6 income per person, which translates to (just under) 2 tax per person at a 30% tax rate (it's actually a bunch more than that due to +% income improvements and wonders, but let's keep it simple). That means that the benefit outweighs the cost once a nation has a civilian population over 50k or no nukes (or no HNMS, in which case more like 30/40k I guess), because 2*50,000 is 100,000.

That all means that FAN has at most one or two nations who will not benefit from this proposal, while the other 85 will benefit. It may be that I've misunderstood the reasons for this war, but it is definitely the case that both of these proposals were beneficial to the vast majority of Yellow nations.
