  1. I too have been here about a week now and I can't stress how important it is that newbies read the information index. I do understand what you're saying about how the information might be compressed into something shorter and easier to read but the fact of the matter is, this game has a particular set of mechanics and you can't just shutter all of that information into one or two paragraphs. However, new players do receive an in-game message at the beginning giving them tips on what to do, so I'm not sure why you haven't mentioned that.

Also, the recruitment messages I received had URLs in them as well, so I did receive "phishing" alerts but this didn't put me off it just made me wary. Those warnings are an unfortunate necessity because they act as alerts to those who might be gullible or otherwise unwary of malicious links.

Reading the rules is the FIRST thing a new player should do. Every single time, in any online game, the rules are the very first document you should read. Don't leave it until you're three or four days into the bloody thing.

Again, I can't stress how much that index is your new best friend. I have only been here eight days and yet I already know the basics on nation-building, like tech dealing and resource trading. Fair enough, we all learn at different paces, but given the resources available to us (CN wiki, CN forums, Information Index, alliance help, etc.) we can at least grasp the basics inside a week.
