1. Just let it go.

    Really.

CN got me bad in RL, brought me stresses that I did not need.

Sometimes the quest for revenge can consume you. It can make you do desperate, idiotic things. Me, for instance, I lost the ability to think before I acted. I became some annoying turd that would not go away.

In 2007 we had three global wars*, all starting within eight months (two of them even starting within two months). Have we had any such wonder years since?

*/ plus quite a few other pretty big ones

This is true. But at that time CN was pretty new. Political alliances were simplistic in this time. You had basically two groups who were dead set against each other. Now you have multiple political alliances (and that dreaded MDP Chaining that some alliances have yet to figure out how to get rid of) that intersect with your other allies. The only two alliances who had this issue in that time frame was GGA and CDS. Now, no matter which treaty you activate, you will usually $%&@ over one of your allies in these wars.

(I may be reading your tone wrong, but can I assume that you are in the group of people who do not inclue UjW as a global war?)

Waaay back when, I left GATO following the GARO incident. People thought this was a big deal.

In retrospect GARO was kind of weak compared to a lot of the !@#$%^&* pulled since then.

  4. Not everyone has had their moment, yet. But a lot of us have.

So, what was your moment of fame?

    This was mine http://s15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/index.php?showtopic=52352

Fark had linked to a story on the old CN forums about the Norway/Nordreich incident. I posted in the thread on Fark.com the following: We need to make a farkistan alliance for CN, and finaly rule over those damn GOONS

Some in GOONS did not take too kindly to my words. Not only that, I found myself on the other side trying to show that Blitz was the reason for GOONS attack on Fark, not me.

So, how did history play out? I do not think that my comments were the strike that sparked the match for GWII. I think GOONS were gonna attack Fark regardless of any CB.

  5. I'm just gonna throw my useless opinion in.

    Both are on equal ground.

With mass alliances, you get significant inactivity issues. You may have unsavory characters whom cannot get along due to personality problems.

With elite alliances, the group tends to be moreso a stable unit (until someone screws up). The loss of one significant member in an elite alliance can be a death spell. When these kinds of alliances split up, because of the closeness associated with its members, feelings get hurt and it opens up a !@#$storm of future retaliatory strikes.

I've seen both sides of the coin. Each has its advantages (ie strength in numbers v strength in high activity people who know how to fight) and disadvantages.

  6. Player fatigue is an issue. That is true.

But still, reinvention of your character is a good way to bring fun back.

I am gonna use an example: Walford

After GWIII, he left GATO, and created NONE. He went from being a top dog in GATO (MoD) forced out of that position due to unfair peace terms, and so he decided to reinvent himself.

He became greater than who he was in GATO. His marking on this game is defined by NONE, not his time as GATO MoD. Although not many people can name too many GATO MoD's, a lot can name Walford.

So yeah, quit !@#$%*ing. CN will only be as fun as you make it to be.

  7. You'll be back.

    We always come back.

CN can be more addicting than crack.

edit: 400th post, w00t. Took nearly 5 years and only 1/8th the amount of my posts from the old CN forum (which took less than one year to get over 2k posts), but w00t

  8. I havent had this much fun on CN since...GWII?

Really, now is the time to reinvent yourself. Look at your character and instead of doing same !@#$ different day do something else.

Me, for instance, any time that I yearned for any kind of power, and when I had any kind of power, I was a miserable man who hated life. When I came back I decided that I would not seek any sort of leadership position. Now that I am just a foot soldier who has no ambition for any sort of advancement, CN is significantly more fun than it has ever been (bonus for me was less stress on my RL activities.) Power was a disease for me. It changed me in a terrible way. Every bad thing that has ever happened to me in CN is due to my greediness of power.

So, yeah, leaders who have been so for a long time, come back down to the lower levels. You may actually enjoy it more like I do.
