    Not to say I don't fully approve of this decision, but you guys stood to gain a lot of ex-GPA members when this war ends as the largest neutral alliance. Unless GUN passed you. Regardless, you would have gotten a big member boost.

    Is it not maybe a sign of greater integrity to make a bold move in a new direction with a group of people we know well, as opposed to hanging around somewhere we're not happy to pick up a few stragglers?

    Mudd, I recommend you refrain from posting in this thread again. I find your behaviour highly embarassing and extremely ignorant. Your comment added nothing to the argument and only acted as libel against people who have not wronged anyone in this game.

    I'm just waiting for the New Pacific Order to demand that the New Polar Order change its name. They would have to for this logic to remain consistent, right?

    NpO is meant to be like NPO, they actually (believe it or not) want the acronyms to be similar. In this case, a similar acronym is detrimental to OTF's reputation, especially if they are a non-tech-raiding alliance, and the splinter alliance are tech raiders.

    A very fair response to the current situation. I would like to convey MAD's support, and hopes that you reach a solution to this problem as quickly as possible. We at MAD understand that the sovereignty of an alliance is of the utmost importance, and have experienced a similar problem ourselves when dealing with the Mercenaries of Absolute Destruction alliance a few months ago. We believe this situation to be not dissimilar to our own, and as such, offer our support to the original OTF alliance.

    For those who may be wondering, MAD’s brand of neutrality has always permitted friendship treaties and the like, just not military treaties.

    OOC: For example, Switzerland is a member of the Council of Europe and the European Free Trade Association, among many other organizations.

    Mutually Assured Defense are proud to announce 2 new PIATs with two good friends: Mostly Harmless Alliance, and the International Defense Directorate.

    Thanks to our friends at both alliances, and here's to many more days of friendship between us.

    WHEREAS Mutually Assured Defense and Mostly Harmless Alliance have developed with one another an amiable working relationship and desire to strengthen the bonds of friendship between them,

    BE IT RESOLVED THAT MAD and MHA agree to the following conditions:

    I. Peace

    I.A. Signatories commit to the goal of peaceful coexistence. Neither signatory alliance shall engage in or in any way endorse hostile action against the other. The use of spies shall be considered a hostile action.

    I.B. In the event of crisis between signatories, all reasonable attempts shall be made to work together diplomatically to preserve relations of amity.

    I.C. In the event of unauthorized hostile action between signatory alliance nations, the alliance of the aggressor nation shall be responsible for bringing said nation into compliance with this pact and for paying reparations to the attacked nation equal to damage caused.

    II. Intelligence

    In the event that either signatory alliance becomes privy to information relating to the security of the other, such information shall be shared with all due haste. This section shall in no way constitute an endorsement of illicit espionage activity of any kind.

    III. Aid

    Signatories are encouraged but not required to provide one another with aid as needed. Such aid may be requested at any time.

    IV. Termination

    This treaty may be terminated at the request of either signatory. Such request shall take the form of a signed statement posted concurrently on both signatory’s forum. Termination shall take effect 36 hours after such posting.

    MAD - FEAR PIAT

    I am proud to announce another (hard to believe isn't it) PIAT from MAD, with our good friends at FEAR.

    Now let's party like it's 2004:

    Preamble

    This treaty is between the alliances of the Fellowship of Elite Allied Republics (FEAR) and the Mutually Assured Defense (MAD) with the intention of further ensuring the safety, security and prosperity of the membership of each alliance. It also serves as a symbol of the continually improving friendship, loyalty and bond shared between the two alliances.

    Article I: Sovereignty

    It must be understood that both alliances shall remain sovereign and independent organizations. Either organization undertaking action (aggressive or defensive) against other entities not included in this agreement does so without implication of the other signatory.

    Article II: Non-Aggression

    No member of either signatory alliance may participate in, support, or condone military action against any member within the corresponding signatory. If a member nation of either signatory alliance is found to have done this, they will be ordered to offer peace within 24 hours of the initial notification, and pay reparations equivalent to the total damages inflicted. This payment of reparations must not take place if doing so would be in violation of any other treaty, document or instrument of surrender. Defending nations are required to limit retaliation to the number and type of attacks received.

    If the attacking nation refuses to offer peace to the defending nation within the specified time frame, without credible reason explaining the lack of compliance to the articles of this treaty, the attacking nation will be expelled from their alliance. Further, the expelled nation is to be considered a rogue by both signatory alliances, and dealt with accordingly.

    Article III: Civility

    The membership of each signatory commit to remaining civil towards each other at all times, particularly in public channels, but also in private.

    Article IV: Financial Assistance

    In case of a conflict involving an attack on a signatory alliance by a third party, the attacked alliance may request financial aid, and the requested alliance, while not obligated to, is strongly encouraged to send available aid. This article can be enacted by the leadership of either alliance, and legitimate requests for financial assistance include, but are not limited to: rogue attacks, both conventional and nuclear; and wars, on both large and small scale. The signatory that has been requested to provide financial assistance has 72 hours to either approve or deny the request. This article may not be enacted if it would be in violation of any other signed treaty, document or instrument of surrender.

    Article V: Espionage

    Both signed alliances agree that under no circumstances shall either signatory alliance engage in espionage against the other. Further, should a signatory receive information that points towards a possible leak in another signatory's security, this information must be shared and discussed immediately.

    Article VI: Intelligence

    Neither signatory alliance shall withhold information from the other signatory alliance that constitutes a direct threat to the security or well-being of the other signatory alliance. Both signatories shall strive to keep the each other informed of non-emergency situations as often as possible.

    Article VII: Team Senate

    All senators from both alliances agree not to sanction members of the other signatory alliance. However, such sanctions may be placed against nations declared rogues by both alliances.

    Article VIII - Termination

    Termination of this pact requires 72 hours notice. This notice is required to be given firstly via private channels. Any intentional or planned violations of the articles within this treaty result in the treaty being considered immediately void, unless otherwise agreed upon by the leadership of both signatories.

    Signatories agree that rock will never die and if someone tries to do it in, we'll be all over their ass like a cheap suit. Signatories further further agree to share lead billing on any festival tours they kick off next summer.
