Anyway welcome TE. I already respect you more than I do most new alliances for taking your time and not being desperate for a protectorate. You CAN do it without one, you just need to be more adept at your diplomacy, which is something that will help you in the long-run anyway. So many new alliances with incapable leaders need the hand-holding of a protectorate, but it is nice to see at least a degree of independence.
