-=Official Press Release from The Aquatic Brotherhood=-
In the early hours of this morning, April 15, 2009, cn-tab.net was attacked by spambots. The blackgaurds responsible targeted our CN:TE site (aas.cn-tab.net) and appropriated it for their own fiendish purposes. Some 3800 spam messages were sent and our server was shut down by the National Access Center (NAC) along with all the sites on it.
We have set up temporary operations at our old forums. (Link below.)
The owner of the server is currently working with the NAC to resolve the issue, and we hope to have our normal forums back up within the next 48 hours. All alliance business will continue as normal on the temporary forums, and we will have updates for our members and diplomats as soon as we have more information.

Zeke and CJ could have made this a lot harder. I would like to commend their willingness to compromise and reiterate the high degree of respect I have for both of them. I also would like to thank TCB for their role in being willing to end the conflict at our request as well.
What started out as a horrible debacle has ended quite well.

THE STARR PROTOCOL
At the request of +Zeke+ of DOOM and Commander John of the Phantom Warrior Corps, I agreed to mediate between them for cessation of hostilities between their respective alliances and PWC's allies, The Centurion Brotherhood. The negotiations were successful, and therefore we are pleased to announce the Starr Protocol.
1. We would like to make the following statements:
From The Aquatic Brotherhood
The Aquatic Brotherhood would like to issue an apology to DOOM, the Phantom Warrior Corps, The Centurion Brotherhood, and all other alliances that this unfortunate episode has effected. We aknowledge that we could have handled this situation better when it started. We also aknowledge that the problem was further complicated by the vague wording of the DOOM Protectorate Treaty. Henceforth, our protectorate treaties will be properly worded so as not to be ambiguous, and they will be standardized to ensure that all of our protectorates enjoy equal rights.Once again, we would also like to thank Zeke for all that he has done for TAB in the past. It has been an unfortunate ending to our relationship with him, and we would like to wish him and DOOM all the best CN has to offer. Go in peace.

The Phantom Warrior Corps and its allies hereby end all hostilities with the alliance known as DOOM, Furthermore we apologize to DOOM for our abrupt action. Perhaps this could have been avoided if we had given peace a chance. We realize that things may not always appear as they are and that in the heat of the arguments we should have given time to let cooler heads prevail. We will continue to be diligent in guarding our alliance and will stand strong in the face of danger.

I am a person of firm opinions. I've never denied that. I'm a direct and blunt person. I've never denied that. I say what I feel with strong conviction and live with the results. Do I get angry? Yes I do. Does that sometimes worry people? Yes it does. Did I get angry about this whole episode? Yes I did.So it stands to reason that my voice caused Commander John honest concern. I have to accept and live with that.
Then the spy incident happened. I will state categorically that myself and no DOOMer committed that spy attack. I could spend a lot of time here laying it all out to make you understand, but for the sake of brevity and closure I will simply tell everyone DOOM did not have a part in that.
However, if you put the two factors of my anger and the spy attack together then I can honestly state that Commander John could perceive a real threat to his alliance. That he made preparations to defend his alliance is exactly what I would have done in his shoes. I can sympathize with his concerns. I suppose I should take it as a compliment that I can generate those thoughts of danger in others. But it doesn't absolve me from the results. Commander John was looking out for his alliance like a good leader should.
As an aside, while Commander John and myself are putting this behind us, the real spy should never reveal themselves. Ever. It will be moment where the two of us will pair our wills to exact relentless justice. No statute of limitations will apply here. Read my first paragraph if you aren't clear on my intent. You threatened DOOM just as much PWC.
I also need to note The Centurion Brotherhood's part in this. They answered a treaty partner's call for help. That's what their treaty stated. That's what they were supposed to do. Their DoW may have been a bit...uhm...exuberant, but I can chalk that up to high morale. As I stated from the beginning, I would not get mad at doing what they treatied to do. May they continue prospering after this.
Last we come to a painful reality for me. I am a TAB Founder. I have poured a sizable slice of my life into it. Like a father I will always love it. But there comes a point where my presence will only inhibit its growth. Like a father I must mask my fears, wish it well with a supportive voice, and let it become the adult on its own. Anything written, implied, or traditionally recognized between TAB and myself/DOOM I hereby sever fully.
Good luck and make me proud, TAB. DOOM now forges ahead into its new future with strength and conviction.
2. Effective immediately, a white peace shall exist between PWC and DOOM. There will be no reparations or other conditions. TCB will end its war with DOOM. This conflict shall end and DOOM and PWC will leave each other alone. TCB will leave DOOM alone as well. If TCB and DOOM need outside negotiations I, Tiberivs, volunteer my services as Mediator.

Though I haven't been to the new TAB forums, I've always been on good terms, and hope to keep it that way.
Feel free to stop by anytime. We're usually pretty quick to get masks done.
EDIT: It's nice to see some civility return to this thread. It's easy to get riled up with stuff like this, and we would all probably do well to take a deep breath.

How quickly your respect went out the window it seems. No, you are not attacking DOOM. And yes, all you did was drop your protectorate and sick the dogs on a smaller former protectorate.
All you had to do was ask Zeke to leave.

As for the matter concerning Crushtania: It was an internal issue and as such it was investigated and handled internally. As you can see, Crushtania remains a Triumvir and still commands the respect and trust of his peers. That is all anyone outside of TAB needs to know. It is not subject to any outside critique, nor is it of consequence in the matter at hand, and it will not be discussed further. We've had enough of our internal affairs spread around as it is.

This is, perhaps, against my better judgment but I shall speak nonetheless. What this whole thing comes down to is this:
1) Sargun was found not guilty, the trial was ended because it turned into a bloody fiasco despite noble efforts, Sargun went to PWC, and the Triumvirate was okay with this. That should have been the end of the story. Instead, information that should have stayed in one place was leaked both inside TAB and outside of it. TAB's sovereignty was disrespected, its confidentiality breached.
2) PWC has long been a refuge for TAB members who were either ousted or had become dissatisfied. If this had been a problem, or if it was unacceptable, TAB would have done something about it long ago, and will deal with it if it does become a problem. TAB and PWC are family. You might leave your parents' house, but you are still in the family. The fact is, people who have left TAB to go there don't usually cause any trouble for PWC, and CJ does not hesitate to deal with them if they do. We may warn CJ about some people, as I have personally done in the past, but we have always been content to let PWC make their own decisions and to respect them.
3) TAB was de facto threatened when this turned personal against members of our High Government. PWC was threatened when CJ's character was attacked, and PWC suddenly felt threatened, not by Sargun in their midst, but by the rhetoric of DOOM's leadership. Wars have been started over less than that, which brings me to my next point:
4) So what if CJ was prepared before this happened? Is it not wise strategy to anticipate the need for force? Sound tactics are not necessarily evidence of a plot to manipulate. How many alliances beef up their security forces when they feel a massive war coming on? No one wants to get caught with their pants down. Anyone who knows the history between CJ and Zeke knew that a military showdown between them was inevitable, needing only the right trigger. If DOOM truly felt threatened, then the thing to do would have been for Zeke to remove himself from the trial, break the protectorate, and walk away. Instead, he took actions that suggested he wanted to subvert our sovereignty in the name of keeping us safe...saving us from ourselves, as it were. Rupert and Sorum are founders too, with the same privileges as Zeke, and certainly no less measure of affection for TAB. They are happy to counsel us from outside the alliance when asked to, but have never taken actions that border on subversion. They respect TAB's autonomy. Sorum may have come and gone in the past, but he always did so officially- changing his membership each time and doing so in accordance with our laws. Not even founders are above the law.
5) Justice without mercy is just another form of tyranny. The plea agreements that were offered to Sargun during the trial were something no one would want to accept. The sentences proposed at trial were preposterous and built more on vengance than justice. This is, after all, a game. We may play it more seriously than most, but it remains what it is. Sargun knows the risks of posting on OWF- in fact, I think I remember him taking someone to task once for posting something that shouldn't have been. Sargun was a good member who served us well. He cared about TAB- maybe still does. In that regard, having to leave TAB is a punishment in and of itself. To disregard his service in the face of even a serious offense, such as a coup, is not justice. If the question is a matter of liabilities, then the answer is painfully clear, and therefore TAB acted on what it considered to be the greater liability.
Zeke, it was you that saw my potential when I started CN and it was you who empowered me to found TAB's military. For that I have always respected you, and defended you to the others in the past- even when I was personally frustrated with your actions. You were a mentor and adviser with experience and knowledge that was a privilege to have around. And in a way that respect will never be totally destroyed, though it has been severely tarnished. Those who know me well know I am fiercely loyal. But even I could not tolerate the degree to which this most recent episode was taken. I was not allowed to view the trial until very late in the proceedings, and even then could not participate. I had the benefit of being impartial when I began my own investigation as Shadow Triumvir into what was happening. When I read it all, and had questioned people involved, it felt like I had been punched in the gut. Do you have any idea how disappointed I felt when I signed my name to this announcement? I had always been the voice of reason and moderation. But not this time. This time it went farther than even my patience could allow.

When we must fight, it's always good to fight an honorable opponent; and even better to see that carried over into the aftermath of the battle. For the way they fought and their willingness to stand by their friends and honor their treaties, Invicta and Nebula-X have my respect.
