Yes most nations would go for a 3 BR. So what. Make the game easier to play by allowing nations to A) choose thier resources or B) level the playing field between resources. The guy with fish/wheat is more likely to stick around than the guy with rubber/fur who cannot keep trades. How many nations have we lost because of poor resource combinations?

A former alliance mate of mine had rubber/whine. Trades were easier to find when he started playing CN and got by with a fairly stable although crappy 7 BR set and had time to build up his nation with wonders and tech. Numbers started to decline trades became increasingly difficult to find and keep and eventually he left the game in frustration. After developing a dozen or so wonders and buying tech with his old nation he had absolutely no desire to reroll.

Another alliance mate has coal/sugar, not terrible resources independantly but together clash. His last slot took him 41 days to fill. 41 days! Here is another player becoming increasingly frustrated and we could potentially lose (directly related to resources) after nearly 1000 days seniority.

Its not the rubber and wine that suck!

All the player based resources are fairly well balanced, its when bonus resources came about that this good v bad started and circles. If not for the unbalancing bonus resources things like rubber/fur or fur/wine would be just as good as fish/wheat.

We dont need the ability to change our starting resources we just need for the bonuses to be balanced.

One fundamental easily fixed problem is resources. I would love to see a TE style change cross over to SE sooner than later. For those of you blessed with great resources you have no idea how incredibly frustrating it is looking for stable trades with mediocre resources. The imbalance between resources is something worth looking into as well. (imagine the guy who starts out with fur and rubber) I have coal and gems and I can not put together a half decent trade circle with those resources.

Every one wants resources for the ideal trade set which means I am forced to send out offers to newer nations. They either delete or drop my trades after learning coal and gems kinda suck. I started playing shortly before the Karma war and this has been pretty much a way of life since the beginning of my nation. I am constantly having to replace dropped trades and it wears on you after awhile.

I think people under estimate the effect this has on younger nations, newbs get fed up before getting hooked to the game. This also a major reason I believe why we have a hard time retaining players. Choosing resources is not the cure all solution to CN but it is a step in the right direction.

To keep nations from constantly changing resources implement a cool down period similar to wonders and perhaps a cost index formula proportional to nation strenth, along the lines of moon and mars wonders.

its not the resources that are unballanced its the bonuses that need balance

  3. Take out one of the more annoying things in the game, the update time. Or at least remove some things from being linked to it:ie nukes battles ect ect. The worst thing about cn is having to be up til 1am (for me, for others its worse) to war or face utter destruction. set it up so your next Abattle is 24 hours from the last Abattle and the next Bbattle is 24 from the last Bbattle, same for nukes navy air cm's spys. we know kev wont change update time so lets just make it less important and add more strategy to the wars.

[the math] = Don't attack nuke-capable nations if you don't want to get nuked.

I'm fairly sure the nation he's currently fighting has not attacked a nuke capable nation. Jus sayin.

  7. 37 pages in and I still don't see any signatures from all parties agreeing to this.

I also don't see any supporting posts from the principal alliance leaders in the Concidence Coalition.

    Is this normal?

edit: If I missed them, just let me know. I have no problem with being called blind or even stupid here. ;)

i dont think this is normal

  8. Apparently you're new here. We do the rolling around here...you and yours sit, wait, and watch until we're done with them.

You do the rolling? Tell ya what when you and the rest of your Norse wannabe based alliance feel frogy, then jump. Come see what a real Norse based alliance can do.
