  1. My personal point of view is if members are going to bail in rough weather, I'd rather have them leave as soon as possible, of their own volition, rather than think I can count on them in the coming weeks, even in wartime.

Rough weather will always be rough weather, yet the necessary variable is whether or not that weather is morally objectionable to the cows that are in it.

  2. The bottomline is that you support and fight for your alliance and friends no matter the cause, and no matter the reasons.

That's stupid and you probably smell bad. If my alliance is doing something wrong and/or lame and they say "Hey Brijen, come along with us and do something wrong and/or lame," I'm gonna say "lolz no, that's wrong and/or lame." If that's a pattern of behavior for them, then they obviously aren't the right alliance for me. Exit stage right.

Jocko's case is no different. It's only an issue because it happened in a wartime situation where he felt like he was being thoughtlessly tossed into a meat grinder, which he was. Your statement insinuates that blind faith and honor are innate to NPO, but given that the Pacificans who started the war don't seem to be the ones fighting it, it's easy to call that into question and see Jocko's point of view. He was paying the price for their arrogance, sinking into the depths while the captains are on the beach drinkin' Santana champ 'cuz it's so crisp.

Let's save the wildcard spot for last, so for the time being sign up only if you can add both of your resources to the consumate list.

  4. Certainly, the tyranny of the majority can be seen as something to be feared. However, no government ruling legitimately and in the best interests of the alliance should fear ideas and changes in the membership. Alliances must change with the times or face stagnation as TGE has done. The loss of new ideas and fresh insight means that the same old tactics get tried over and over again to the point that the membership does the only thing it can do - leave.

It's not a matter of fearing ideas or change. Just because something exists as an idea doesn't mean it's for the good of the alliance. One way or another, the leader is put in place to make those decisions and judgments. If you don't like his decisions, find another alliance or make your own. I'm not paying for the servers.

  5. No. The leaders of an alliance are there to express the will of the membership. Even the archetypal Empire (the Orders) understand this with their concept of 'democratic autocracy'. You pledge yourself to the alliance, and its laws. If a leader goes beyond those laws or acts against the interests of the alliance, you should follow the laws and not the leader.

I'm not saying that necessarily happened here (obviously I don't know what happened in detail in this instance), but in general terms I disagree with your point.

The leaders = The will of the membership = the alliance.

Unfortunately that doesn't operate like a perfect equation because it won't always be balanced.

I said you pledge yourself to both ends of that equation. What happens when the will of the membership goes against an original charter? A simple majority doesn't necessarily imply that the best interests of the alliance are at hand. Rough example: If TGE has a sudden recruitment drive and somehow winds up with a bunch of witches, the will of the people would move towards a wiccan identity. That's not in the best interest of the alliance based on the ideas of WWI era Germany and so the leader would be required to do something. Thomas Jefferson warned against the tyranny of the majority.

Let's assume that witches and Imperial krauts aren't compatible for the sake of this post.

In the end, the individual just has to choose what's right, or at the very least, what he prefers.

  6. The name of the alliance is "The German Empire", not "Kaiser Frederick II". As for the flag, I don't see his face on there either. But, hey, as I've said before I clearly missed the part of signing up where I swore a personal oath of loyalty to the German leadership.

When joining an alliance you pledge yourself to the alliance and its leaders. K-Fred and Vlad generally being the top dogs in the Empire mean that you're pledging to them. Huge leap of logic, but I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually. Until then you may continue this princess tantrum at the expense of your own pride. If you wanted to leave, then just leave. Crying about it on forums just makes you look like you're craving attention and validation for your actions, which implies that on some level you know that you've erred. You're not a martyr. STFU plz n thank you.
