being in an alliance usually offers

A) protection from tech raiders and random wars

B) most alliances have starter aid for new nations, such as yourself, that you ask for to give your nation a growth spurt

C) alliances have seperate forums which you can hang out and get involved in your alliance

overall, it is far better to be in an alliance, otherwise your nation will be attacked and plundered by rogues

and that is never fun
