We hope to build a prosperous state, with democratic principles and free of pain and misery. We ask that the American Commonwealth recognize our independence and we hope that we can build good relations. In the Capital Winnipeg, the embryo Manitoba Defence Force paraded through the city, its Two Mechanised and Six Infantry Divisions plus its Armoured Brigade were shown to adoring crowds and the country's first President Michael Littlewood. Although their equipment were not exactly modern, with most soldiers were wielding Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk.I Bolt Action Rifles and the standard Tanks being shown were the Sherman V and Sherman VC Firefly Medium Tank. Other equipment on show would be Willys Jeep Utility Vehicles, C15TA Armoured Trucks, Mk II Universal Carriers, M3A1 Half Track Personnel Carriers. Sexton 25 Pounder Self Propelled Artillery and Crusader III, AA Mk II / Mk III Tanks. This Defence Force had been outfitted with gear which had served with distinction in years gone by, but would be adequate for the moment while better arms production was set up to make more modern equipment. We are currently finding it hard to build more modern equipment, due to the more modern factories being constructed having been geared to civilian production.
