Dochartaigh Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 I have come and gone from TE since it began. Recently i have come back for last round and this round and the thing i noticed was the lack of change. not of the game, but the players. the biggest thing i noticed was grudges. grudges kill TE in my opinion as it leads to the same people attacking the same people round after round. A separate TE forum where players have to change their forum name every round (which would include having to change your nation or ruler names or both in game) may freshen it up. people won't know who the other person is anymore so it may lead to less grudges being held. the other suggestion i have is towards the player. get rid of any alliance that has existed for longer than 2-3 rounds. seriously, switch it up and meet new people. the same AAs will also lead to grudge matches and it is tiresome to rejoin and because the guy leading my alliance has a grudge with others and they have a grudge with him, i had to keep hearing all about it. it is TE for admin's sake. it is supposed to change every round and i recognize alliances from the first round. just my 2 cents. Vivi Posted March 16, 2011 Report Posted March 16, 2011 There will not be a separate forum for TE. It would be an administrative nightmare. Quote
Mikeyrox Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 I have to disagree with the sentiment that we need to keep changing our nations and changing our alliances. I hear this argument brought up a lot, but I think a lot of people underestimate some of the benefits of constancy. Having to keep switching nation names and alliances would be a hassle, and I honestly don't see it working. First off, I think being in the same community can be fun. I haven't always been in the Roman Empire, but I have enjoyed my time there a great deal, and honestly it is one of the main reasons I still play this game. Lets face it, the actual game mechanics are not particularly enthralling - its the mix of the game and the people that make it interesting. I don't know that I would have as much fun if I wasn't playing with the people I have become friends with over the rounds. Sure, I could still play with them even if I wasn't in the same alliance, but then that would ruin the anonymity factor that you are going for (to prevent grudges). People who are friends would still want to play together, so they would likely tell each other what their nations are, so people would still know who other people are, even with the name changes. Heck, they would probably also go to the same alliances as each other, so in the end nothing really changes. Names of alliances might be different, but the memberships would be similar. Now naturally that doesn't hold true for everyone. Some people like moving to different alliances all the time, and that's great. If you like that, I encourage you to do it. But others like being with the same people as well. I just don't think the change mentality holds true for everyone, or even a large enough portion of the TE base for your plan to work (though I could be wrong about that). I agree with you that one of the main problems with this game are the grudges that end making every round look like the last, I just don't think your suggestion would necessarily cure the grudge problem. The best hope is for people to just have some sportsmanship and not be so serious about it all. I have been in the same alliance since round 9, but I don't carry any grudges over. No matter what happens its still a game, and I always tend to look at things as just people playing how they want to play. If the people who do hold grudges would just look at things that way and not get so caught up in it all, that would go a long way. But then again, this is the internet so I don't expect that happening any time soon Wow I have too much time on my hands to be writing all this Quote
