Banksy Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 ...more a server issue. I can't seem to reach the server to log on to CN for the last 16 hours or so, and no one else is having this issue. I've tried using Chrome, FF and IE, but the issue appears to be an issue with connecting to the server, rather than an issue with browsers. I don't have an issue with any other sites. I was wondering if maybe there is some filter on traffic from certain countries on right now [i'm from New Zealand] due to, idk, spam or the like. This seemed like the most appropriate place to place this, although feel free to move it~
Locke Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Flush your DNS cache and/or switch to another DNS provider like Google or OpenDNS. Do you know how to do that? If not tell me your OS and I'll give you some steps.
Ryuzaki Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Probably not related, but I had similar issues recently when using my cellphone, despite it working fine in the past and working fine now.
Banksy Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) thanks locke, working now (although admittedly i have no idea if it's related as i've never heard of a DNS cache before ) Edited March 8, 2011 by Banksy
Locke Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011
thanks locke, working now (although admittedly i have no idea if it's related as i've never heard of a DNS cache before )
DNS is basically what converts those nice little letter-based addresses you like to type into IP's that computers actually use to communicate. If the cache of these stored matches is faulty, you will be connecting to something that does not exist. Although I doubt it's the case here, it's common when a website moves servers. More than likely it was just a hiccup on your end this time. Anyway, glad I could help.
