Kevin Kingswell Posted January 11, 2011 Report Posted January 11, 2011 (edited) It had happened again. One moment she had been staring at the tiny white pill in her hand and then she had found herself standing outside in the rain watching the remains of what had been her new home burn down to the ground. She could barely remember anything during those thirty minutes where the Eclipse had taken affect. She could remember seeing the world shift and change before her, the walls seeming to bend inwards whilst the tables and chairs laughed at her in their squeaky voices. Soon it had grown too much and she had put the place to flame and as she watched the flames spread across the building, room by room she listened as the laughter turned to screams of pain and misery. The voice had spoken and told her that she had done so very well and that it was proud of her which made her feel loved and wanted in a way that no one else could ever manage. Not even her long dead parents. It did not take long before the emergency services arrived, their sirens blaring and lights flashing. The firemen quickly got their equipment ready and began to try and get the fire under control whilst the police started talking to the nearby watchers to try and find out just what had happened. "It is not safe here my precious daughter" spoke the voice. "They will want to ask you questions and take you away from me". "What should I do?" she asked. "Run my sweet run and do not look back!!" the voice replied urgency in its voice. Tearing her gaze away from the burning building the young woman took off for a dark alleyway stuffed full of old boxes and other rubbish. She almost managed to get away without being seen however, a sharp eyed policeman spotted her and took off shouting out for her to stop. The woman ran as fast as she could but it was impossible for her to out run the police officer and he quickly caught with her when she came across a solid brick wall blocking her way. "Young woman it is okay, I'm a policeman you can trust me. I just want to ask you some questions okay" said the policeman calmly keeping his hands by his side as to not frighten the young woman. "Do not listen to him. He is lying to you. He means to take you away from me forever" shouted the voice almost as if it was in fear. Screaming aloud the young woman turned and leapt at the surprised officer, her leap knocking them both to the floor. Before he could react the officer felt the young woman's hands wrap around his throat, her nails digging into his skin. Looking up into her eyes he noticed that they seemed empty as if the woman's body was nothing but a shell for something that had long left. Reaching up he grabbed her hands and attempted to pry them off but to no avail, it was as if she was using the strength of ten men. They continued to struggle until finally the officer lay still beneath her. Smiling the young woman stood up and looked down upon her work. She felt no sorrow at what she had done, just a sense of necessity. This man had to die so she could remain with her father. The sound of something scraping the floor caused her to look up sharply to her side and she smiled again as she spotted her father and mother beckoning her into another alleyway shrouded in darkness. With a slight spring in her step Clarice made her way into the alleyway. She would need to find a new home but for now she would enjoy her walk with her mum and dad, leaving the body behind to be eaten by the rats. Edited January 11, 2011 by Kevin Kingswell Quote
