Botha Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 RADIO-TRANSVAAL: A token occupation force of the Transvaler Krygsmagte today entered Northern Angola allegedly to “prevent a vacuum of authority and to nominally re-unify Northern and Southern Angola into one political identity. Southern Angola has been under varying degrees of Transvaal rule for the better part of three years – however in June 2010, it became part of the Independent Province of Tahoe-Transvaal as an autonomous homeland for exiles from the first Tahoe Republic. Foreign Minsiter Andries Joubert however stated during a press conference that “…the annexation of Northern Angola will no doubt force Pretoria to re-examine its commitment to maintaining the so-called Tahoe Province as its population and political influence dwindles.” Joubert’s comments sparked theories that the Tahoman homeland in Transvaal would be reduced in size to allow for Angolan re-unification either as a full province of the Republic or placing the entire territory under a protectorate that could ultimately lead to its independence from Pretoria. “Transvaal has been open to Angolan independence in the past, so it is very possible that is the course of action the government is working towards” said one member of the government on the condition of anonymity. Transvaal has had a long history of involvement and interference in Angolan affairs. The territory has only briefly seen a full-fledged independent government, spending most of its existence on Planet Bob under the rule of its various neighbours and the mega-states of Serca and UMS which have governed over much of Central Africa. Transvaal first laid its claims in Angola three years ago in January 2008 when Arenellia and Transvaal divided it amongst themselves. Quote

Lavo Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Rebel Army soldiers, currently patrolling Northern Angola, were surprised by the Transvaal soldiers marching across the border. As soon as they were seen, the RA soldiers ordered them to leave the area immediately, at gunpoint if necessary. Jerusalem notes that it would be open to talks with Transvaal over the future of the area, however, military intervention would not be tolerated and as such, asks that Transvaal pull it's forces out immediately. Botha Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 OOC: The World Map is misleading. There is a line along the 22nd parallel so that makes it appear as if Rebel Army's protectorate only extends as far south as the bottom of the Egyptian border - which is why I re-exerted our claim.
The Krygsmagte detachment deployed to 're-occupy' Northern Angola was just as surprised when they soon ran into the first precense of troops from Rebel Army. The offcer in charge, one Major van der Melle, took out the map which had been given to him along with his marching orders. He showed it to the officer in charge of Rebel Army patrol. "We were told there were no foreign troops in the region for thousands of kilometres", the major said. He seem somewhat alarmed that there was now a nominal foreign precense so close to the Transvaler frontier - and more so that it due to troops from Rebel Army. The major did not know much about the Middle Easterners, but he knew enough that relations between Jerusalem and Pretoria were strained at best. "I have my orders, but apparently the intelligence I was given conficts with what the situation is now. I will halt my troops here and wait for further instructions from Pretoria." Quote
Sargun II Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 OOC: Sorry, Botha, let me clarify the world map. Rebel Army has an official protectorate protectorate only as far south as Egypt's border. Anything below that is still his protectorate, but on the world map is marked as white space so that new or returning players can claim it without having to ask for permission or anything like that. Which, imo, is entirely against "making it white land". Gone now. OOC thread might be better to discuss this, if any discussion happens. Quote

Regardless, I would be willing to meet my opposite from Rebel Army to discuss the future status of Central Africa. My government is interested in having some sort of say as to its immediate neighbours which is why we have sent our forces into Angola. Also because we have an old historical interest to Angola since at one time the whole of unified Angola was ours. Our intention is we would like to see more independent nations in Central Africa and along our northern frontier - and less mega-empires. The Republic of Transvaal desires to united Northern Angola with our Southern Angolan territory into a unified Angolan protectorate under Pretoria with the eventual hope of independence for Angola." - statement by Foreign Minister Andries Joubert of Transvaal Quote
