Once upon a time. . .

Nolissar, Stetson and Pansy were just hanging out (I swear! That’s all they’ll tell us about that day!) and decided it would be a great idea for OSA, SNAFU and Olympus to race one another to 2,000,000 Nation Strength. The really amazing part was that they remembered to tell the rest of us in the morning. And so it was off: The Amazing Nation Strength Race.

First thing Olympus had to do was decide on our vehicle for the competition. Everyone had their own idea.

SO’s suggestion:

Blazer and Seele had their ideas, too

Pansy’s submission was not exactly unexpected.

qh’s suggestion raised a few eyebrows

In the end, we decided to go with something a bit more conventional

The Olympians were more than a little intimidated when they saw OSA pull up in their vehicle

But the arrival of the SNAFU-ians put everything back into perspective

The first 3 rounds of competition saw the alliances race to Asia. The clear winner of this segment of the race was OSA, especially after calling Checkmate on both SNAFU and Olympus in a game of 3-way chess

OSA was out to a big lead. It looked like they were a shoe-in to win the competition. But the SNAFU-ians and the Olympians weren’t about to give up. The next stop was in Scandinavia where the groups were to compete in an extreme swimming event.

SNAFU won that one handily as Joe32320 was the only person in all 3 alliances who would even compete. The group continued on through Europe competing and growing their nations, even going so far as developing colonies in space! Little did they know how much that would pay off until they got to their destination in Florida, USA. The task on the card read:
Travel to the Sea of Tranquility and play a friendly 9 holes of golf. Best score wins the challenge.

I have no idea how they did it. SNAFU’s team came in under par! The rest of us couldn’t control those golf balls at all. Forget about sinking a putt. The balls would just take off and float away. SNAFU pulled out to a big lead. It looked like they were guaranteed the win. The Olympians were downhearted. There were whispers of conceding the competition. Then SO opened the envelope to check out our next destination. We were on our way to the beaches of California to play

MG shrugged. Anyone even know the rules? m3g smiled and winked at Pansy. “I’ve got some experience”

SNAFU put up a good fight, but the team of m3g and Pansy edged them out for Olympus’s first win of the entire competition. They were still in third place, but the win restored their confidence. Buff was quick to rip open the next envelope. A huge grin spread across his face. “You a’int gonna believe this!”

Somehow we won the Buffalo Wrestling competition. Buff say’s it’s his extreme skills. We’re pretty sure it’s just that no one else wanted to risk ending up with a flea infestation. But with our second win in a row, we actually pulled into first place. The gap was narrow, but Olympus was ahead for the first time in the competition. And then luck was on our side. The final competition was revealed.

Noli and Stetson shook their heads. Pansy didn’t even look behind him when he climbed off at the end of the race. He pushed the Olympians to their car and shouted “Go!” We were on our way to the finish line. We had a chance of finishing the race first, we just had to get there before OSA and SNAFU!

There it was! Just a little ahead. Could we do it? MG was running and got a Charlie horse. Buff stopped and let her ride the rest of the way. Pansy was almost to the finish platform when he stopped and waited for the rest of us. That’s how it’s always been. Olympus isn’t about one or two people. It’s about all of us helping one another to be the best they can be. We crossed the finish line on this goal and we did it together

We want to thank OSA and SNAFU for the awesome competition and all our Olympian brothers and sisters who worked together and helped us cross this goal.

TL;DR: Olympus crosses 2m NS

I am so very proud today to call myself Olympian, to call SNAFU allies and to call OSA friends. It has been fun friends, and I wish you all speedy growth to reach the same milestone very soon!

Olympians, you have worked very hard during war and peace, and the solid nation growth plans you have set out for yourselves has paid off. Keep up the good work.

Race to 3 million? :ehm:

Congratulations Olympus, though I would hardly call Joe32320 competition. :awesome:

Expect to be hearing from my lawyer about that wild allegation :P

This announcement has made my morning. :D

My morning coffee goes much better with a good laugh.

Congrats to my friends at Olympus on a great milestone!

That was the best announcement I've read in ages. I wish we were making it but if it couldn't be us I can't think of anyone better.

You guys kicked butt and I look forward to the next race to 2mil. (Hey, if Pansy can dream, I can too.)

I'll wear my second place hat with pride. :D
