Generalissimo Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) The Aleutian Islands and Bering Sea have recently been of increasing interest and concern to the international community, to address this issue Procinctia will host an open international conference to address this issue. Generalissimo Posted December 24, 2010 Author Report Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) *Once the conference has actually started* Catalina Martinez, Catalina’s Cantina, (New) Saint Paul City, Saint Paul Island "Procinctia’s final defeat in the Procinctia-Republic of War Conflicts turned the Aleutian Islands into a neglected backwater between Asia and North American. With its cities destroyed, trade ceased, population decimated, and resources depleted it seemed the Bering region would be entirely forgotten. Postwar Procinctia didn’t have to deal with neighboring countries, and nobody really cared about the Bering. Once Tahoe muscled into the area these tiny islands were once again a significant international concern. Subsequent to Procinctia’s revival it seems nearly everyone has, or is trying to acquire, some sort of involvement in the Bering Sea." iKrolm Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 OOC: In contrast to other events you've hosted? IC: Mr. Iberio Granado of the Selenarctan Economic Division arrived to represent Selenarctos and would pass the security screening with flying colors: he is of excellent health, brings no weapons, and was well versed in maintaining his composure. "I'll be honest, this meeting came as something of a surprise to Selenarctos, but I would first like to say Selenarctos has no territorial, colonial or militaristic objectives within the Bering region other than the economic interests we would pursue with any friendly nation. The government of Procinctia is one such friendly nation with which Selenarctan individuals and companies have traded with and done business with on numerous of occasions, always with a positive outcome. I'm here today to underscore Selenarctan support for Procinctia, the only nation native to the Bering straight might I add, and convey that we look forward to the completion of the goals laid out by Procinctia for the Bering region." Vedran Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) Because of the unwillingness of any Arctican officials to go through such an unreasonable battery of tests, straws were drawn on the MV Phoenix, the aid ship anchored somewhere in Procinctian waters. An unlucky diplomatic aide was sent to the island, escorting an Uberstein-style mobile telescreen. He would pass the tests, although he was very nervous. When they got to the conference room, the telescreen wheeled itself to a vantage point with a good view of all attendees before switching itself on. The face on the screen was that of Damien Mahavony, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador-at-Large to the Bering and Northwest American Region. He would mainly be observing this meeting for the purposes of finding out what interest other nations had in Procinctia and how it would impact his aid mission. The aide ordered a 3.2 beer and sat quietly. Edited December 24, 2010 by Vedran Quote
Generalissimo Posted December 25, 2010 Author Report Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) "Before going any farther I would like to apologize for the seemingly excessive, and often intrusive, security measures at this event. Unfortunately a number of high-profile incidents highlight that international events are not as safe as they might have once been, Procinctia values the lives of our guests above all else." Unfortunately other nations, like my own, have competing desires for the Aleutians. I believe mutually reveling our relative objectives; colloquially laying our cards on the table, openly will prevent potential conflicts. Procinctia has nothing to hide." Margrave Posted December 26, 2010 Report Posted December 26, 2010 Hanseatic Finland would send a representative diplomat, not to offer an opinion one way or the other, but with a request to renew formal diplomatic ties with the tiny nation, as well as well-wishings of Christmas Cheer. Quote
Generalissimo Posted December 26, 2010 Author Report Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) Catalina continues in fatigued exasperation, this single topic was the source of Procinctia’s diplomatic confrontations since the war, “Procinctia’s most significant divergence in our Bering policies begins with a single question - how can anyone believe the Aleutian Islands to be part of North America? Procinctia has always believed it self to be a Pacific nation, and has conducted external policy accordingly. We feel the Aleutian Islands simply don’t share any significant cultural, geographic, or historical connections with the North American mainland. From our perspective the misconception of a North American aligned Aleutian began with Tahoe’s UNJUSTIFIED incursion into the Bering Sea.” Edited December 26, 2010 by Generalissimo Quote
