Kevin Kingswell Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 It was time for action. That was the thought running through the Council's mind as they gave their permission for the beginning of Operation: Ice Devil. With permission recieved the military generals began to make their first moves of the Operation. Civilians watching from their houses could feel and see the massive movement of men and material towards the western border. The first true offensive action was undertaken by the airforce as a flight of six jet recon planes were launched into the air. These aircraft had no stealth capabilities but they were very fast and could fly at a high altitude whilst still viewing the landscape below. The six planes remained in formation for some time before splitting up and heading on different flight paths across the Espana controlled land in Antarctica. The aircraft had been launched when no satellites could see them from orbit and so they wouldn't be detected from space however, they could and might be dected by any ground radar stations or any flying military aircraft. If detected and challeneged the recon plane's orders were to head for home base immediatly. Ezequiel Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 OOC: you can't tell if they are unable to be spotted by space and you must wait for me to respond since you didn't bother PMing me about the attack. You also have failed to mention the number of troops attacking. As the air craft crossed border they were identified by the radar. They were radioed from the ground air base. Base; 'You are entering España airspace. Identify yourselves or be shot down in 5 minutes.' Fighter jets were launched and ready to intercept the unknown aircraft if they did not identify. The base reports to Madrid with the following message through a secure network;
The Gen., Madrid, We have received unidentified aircraft on radar. Radio attempts have been sent, we will shoot down in 5 minutes if we receive no identity. Antarctic base.
As Madrid received the message they were shocked that someone would attempt to illegally enter España airspace. The military was prepared for war in case such an action would need to happen. The General got in touch with the foreign minister, Ezequiel. He receives the news and sends a message to England.
To; England From; España SUBJECT; Possible war Dear Triumvirate, We have recently spotted aircraft and movement into our territory in Antarctica. We think a nation is declaring war but unsure at this moment. We would like to ask if we may use a few of your warships if it comes to open warfare. We apologize for these actions, but they were not our intentions. Kindly, Ezequiel José.
Quote
Kevin Kingswell Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) OOC: A few points: 1) I can easily tell if they can be seen or not by checking whether the sats are above their flightpaths so its reasonable for me to wait till its clear and then launch the aircraft. 2) Sorry about not PMing you but I couldn't remember who controlled Espana and also my internet has been down the past couple of days. Again when I saw no reply I just thought to post the next step and see if you would respond. 3) The attack only inflicts damage if you have no border defenses obviously if you do then they don't advance and instead stick still and engage said defenses. Though I am willing to go back to the recon planes if you want. 4) Sorry about not including numbers I thought I had posted them. it was an honest mistake. Ezequiel Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 OOC: please continue from the planes. Quote
Kevin Kingswell Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 OOC: No probs. IC: Above Espana airspace "This is hotel two niner to foxtrot, hotel is bust I repeat hotel is bust". This message was broadcast back to air command in the Federation as all of the recon planes turned back towards the Federation's territory. All except one ambitious pair of pilots who believed they would be able to gather more information before returning thus getting them their promotions that they had always wanted. So five of the recon planes hit their afterburners heading back as quickly as they could whilst one lone recon bird kept going inwards to Espana territory unaware of the Espana planes heading its way. Quote
Ezequiel Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 The radar shows five of the six aircraft have turned around and are making a b line out of España airspace. Base; Base to Adm., repeat base to Adm. Adm.; This is Adm., come in. Base; Five targets neutralized, there is still one on radar with the cords of ******. Neutralize target, I repeat neutralize target. Adm.; Neutralize target over. 5 fighters head full speed at the target. They shoot to ground the plane with out destroying it for a crash landing. A para-shooting team was ready to examine the crash site.
Gen., Madrid, Five of the six have made a B-line out of the airspace. One is aimed to be shot down.
Quote
Kevin Kingswell Posted December 23, 2010 Author Report Posted December 23, 2010 The remaining recon plane's pilots were so focused on gaining information that they didn't notice the Espana aircraft until the first rounds of cannon fire slammed into their aircraft. Suddenly their screens were blinking red as alarm after alarm sounded and they quickly lost control of the aircraft and it began to slide downwards out of the heavens. The pilots quickly made up their minds and ejected from the aircraft and as they drifted downwards they watched their plane descend before finally impacting on the ground. The aircraft was mangled but inside its black box was still intact and if the Espana technicians got to it before any fires managed to destroy they would be able to find out all about the recon mission. The two pilots looked at each other and shook their heads sadly. "We really blew it this time" they wailed together. Quote
Ezequiel Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 OOC: Sorry, I didn't see your reply. As the plane crashes the fighters quickly call back to base. Adm; Adm. to base. Base; Come in Adm. Adm; Target has crashed with cords ******. Requesting helicopter to control and sort through the blaze. Base; 10-4. Return to base. The base general sends two rescue helicopters to the cords given. They are to control the blaze and retrieve all they can from the wreck. Quote
Zoot Zoot Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 England would send a swift response to it's allies request. " the royal navy will deploy it's first fleet to the area of operations. We honour our obligations, the royal marines will be accompanying the fleet as standard. " On the message being sent the first fleet began it's journey to espanas Antarctic territories. OOC sorry for late response Quote

Kevin Kingswell Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 The plane's wreckage would be badly burnt though a United Winter Federation embelem would be quite visable on the main body of the wreck. The cockpit would be smashed up though the plane's blackbox would survive containing the pilots orders and mission. If this box was removed and checked out it would detail how the recon planes were to scout the Espana territory for signs of life as very little had been seen from the Federation. Quote
Zoot Zoot Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 The royal navy taskforce along with 7000 royal marines and assorted equipment where now sailing alongside the coast of transvaal. Making sure to remain in international waters Quote
Ezequiel Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 As the helicopters arrive at the crash site they begin their work. Searching for survivors, then they would look for any identification. After searching, they find a badly damaged image of what looks like the banner of the United Winter Federation. Material was all photographed and sent to a lab in Madrid. After a while of searching, they find the black box of the aircraft, it too is sent along with the material photographs to Madrid. OOC: I can do that, right? Quote
Zoot Zoot Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 The royal navy taskforce was now only one day away from antarctica. A message was set to the Spanish commanders. " This is Four Lions taskforce. This is admiral Joona speaking, we are one more day away from rendering assistance. Air support is available if required. " Quote
Ezequiel Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 General Julian answered the call. 'Understood. Please port and we will wait for orders from MilCom. Investigation is under way. All men are welcome to leave port for what ever reasons necessary if needed. Over.' Quote

Zoot Zoot Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 The British Fleet began operational patrols on the western sea border with the UWF, the two carriers had aircraft on patrol above the taskforce searching for signs of any more attacks. Admiral Joona was in constant contact with MilCom awaiting orders. The marine regiment was offloaded on the mainland before making camp and awaiting orders. Quote
Ezequiel Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 After much delay, the results from the crash were in. As the paper prints, the man in a lab coat was shocked and rushed the results to the Pentagon. A man rushes into the pentagon command center in a black suit with the paper in his hand. "UWF did WHAT?!" General Barca said, angry as can be. "Roll the results to Ezequiel, make the Antarctic base and England aware of our findings. Tell them to prepare the army and await orders." He continued to say. The man rushes out of the command center to the diplomatic section. He faxes the papers to the office of Ezequiel. "Get the UWF on a secure line, now." Ezequiel said, angry yet holding it back. The request was sent to the UWF, waiting for the line to connect. Quote
Zoot Zoot Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 With confirmation of the attacks origin, Joona moved the fleet right onto the sea border with the UWF and began deploying aircraft to create a wall of steel. The two Ohio class subs which were already prepared to launch deadly salvos of WMD's continued preparations forbthw order to be given. The rest of the fleet deployed into an all round defence formation and prepared for operations. Quote
Kevin Kingswell Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 The line was quickly established to the representives of the Council office where one of the many representives took the call. "Welcome to the United Winter Federation's diplomatic hotline. How may I help you?" answered the young woman on the other side as she signalled for the council to be alerted that Espana was now in immediate contact. Quote
Ezequiel Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 OOC: Ugh, Kev >_> IC: "Good day, this is Ezequiel José. Minister of Foreign Affairs for España. We are in need of the highest authority, this matter is urgent." He says, then sighs and rubs his forehead. Quote
Kevin Kingswell Posted January 11, 2011 Author Report Posted January 11, 2011 "I see sir" replied the representative more seriously. "I shall put you in contact with the council immediatly" and with a few deft taps of her keyboard she had the call transferred across to Council Man Kenneth Jones, 8th member of the council. "Greeting Mr José. I am Council Man Kenneth Jones speaking for all of the council how can I help you sir?" he asked. Quote
